CONFIDENCE IN GOD THAT GUARANTEES ANSWERED PRAYERS

KEY VERSE

"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us." - 1 John 5:14 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Apostle John reveals a powerful spiritual reality, confidence in God is the foundation of effective prayer. This confidence is not based on emotions, performance, or human effort, but on a deep relationship with God and alignment with His will.

Confidence in God means:

  • You trust His character (He is faithful).
  • You rely on His promises (He cannot lie).
  • You align with His will (not self-centered desires).

When your heart is aligned with God's will, your prayers are not guesses, they are assured petitions. Heaven responds not to noise, but to faith rooted in truth.

Many believers pray but lack confidence because:

  • They doubt God’s willingness.
  • They are unsure of His will.
  • They carry guilt or disobedience.

But Scripture declares that when we walk in obedience and truth, we develop boldness before God. This boldness produces consistency, persistence, and results.

Confidence in God transforms prayer from begging into fellowship, from uncertainty into assurance, and from fear into faith.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To build unwavering faith in God’s hearing power (Hebrews 11:6)

  2. To align every prayer with God's will (Matthew 6:10)

  9. To overcome fear and unbelief (Mark 11:24)

  10. To live a victorious prayer life (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

BIBLICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TRUE CONFIDENCE

  1. Faith without wavering (James 1:6)

  2. Boldness in approaching God (Hebrews 10:19)

  3. Obedience to God's Word (1 John 3:22)

  4. Assurance of God's promises (Romans 4:21)

  5. Persistence in prayer (Luke 18:1)

WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
Joseph M. Scriven (1855)

Message: Encourages believers to bring everything to God in prayer with confidence.

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer!

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge--
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield you;
you will find a solace there.

KEY VERSE:

"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." - 1 John 5:13 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The heart of this scripture is not just belief, but continuous belief rooted in assurance. Many believers start with faith, but few sustain it because they lack the certainty of what Christ has already accomplished.

The Apostle John writes to believers so that they may know, not guess, not hope vaguely, but know with confidence that they have eternal life. This knowledge is what fuels persistence in faith. When assurance is missing, doubt creeps in; when assurance is strong, faith becomes unshakable.

To “continue to believe” means:

  • Standing firm even when circumstances contradict your faith
  • Trusting God beyond emotions and visible evidence
  • Remaining rooted in Christ regardless of trials

Faith that endures is not built on feelings, it is built on revelation. When you truly understand that eternal life is already yours in Christ, your faith becomes stable, confident, and immovable.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION: KNOWING YOU BELONG TO GOD

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 2nd, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION: KNOWING YOU BELONG TO GOD

KEY VERSE

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” - 1 John 5:13 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Christian faith is not built on uncertainty, fear, or guesswork, it is built on assurance. God does not want His children to live in doubt about their eternal destiny. The Apostle John clearly states that believers can know they have eternal life, not hope, not assume, but know.

This assurance is rooted in faith in Jesus Christ, not in human effort. Eternal life is a gift received through belief, not a reward earned through works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Many believers struggle because they measure their salvation by feelings, performance, or circumstances. But assurance is not based on emotions, it is anchored in God’s Word and His promises.

To “know” you have eternal life means:

  • You trust completely in Christ’s finished work.
  • You experience transformation in your life.
  • You have a growing relationship with God.
  • You walk in obedience, not perfection, but direction.

Assurance brings confidence, peace, boldness in prayer, and stability in trials. Without it, a believer becomes spiritually unstable, easily shaken, and vulnerable to fear.

God’s desire is clear: you should live daily with the confidence that you belong to Him, now and forever.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To establish believers in the certainty of salvation (1 John 5:13)

  2. To eliminate fear concerning eternal destiny (Romans 8:1)

  3. To strengthen faith in Christ’s finished work (John 19:30)

  4. To encourage a life of obedience (John 14:15)

  5. To deepen relationship with God (John 17:3)

  6. To promote spiritual growth and maturity (2 Peter 3:18)

  7. To build confidence in prayer (1 John 5:14)

  8. To affirm identity as children of God (Romans 8:16)

  9. To produce joy in salvation (Psalm 51:12)

  10. To prepare believers for eternity (Colossians 1:12)

BIBLICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ONE WHO HAS ETERNAL LIFE

  1. Believes in Jesus Christ (John 3:16)

  2. Walks in the light (1 John 1:7)

  3. Loves others genuinely (1 John 3:14)

  4. Obeys God’s commandments (1 John 2:3)

  5. Has the witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16)

  6. Practices righteousness (1 John 2:29)

  7. Overcomes the world (1 John 5:4)

  8. Has hunger for God’s Word (1 Peter 2:2)

  9. Demonstrates repentance (Acts 3:19)

  10. Bears spiritual fruit (Galatians 5:22-23)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. THE SEALED DOCUMENT

A man receives a legal document stamped and sealed by the government. Even if he feels uncertain, the seal guarantees its authenticity.

Lesson:

God has “sealed” believers with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). Your assurance is based on God’s seal, not your feelings.

2. THE CHILD AND THE FATHER

A child does not doubt belonging to his father daily; even when corrected, the relationship remains.

Lesson:

Your salvation is a relationship, not a temporary contract. Discipline does not cancel sonship.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

If you are unsure of your salvation, or if you have been living in sin while claiming faith, return to God today. Assurance comes through genuine faith and a surrendered life.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Search your heart. Are you truly trusting Christ, or relying on religion, works, or assumptions? Turn away from doubt, sin, and self-dependence.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Lord Jesus,

I come before You acknowledging my sins and my doubts. I surrender my life fully to You. I believe You died for me and rose again. Cleanse me, renew me, and establish me in the assurance of eternal life. Let Your Spirit bear witness in me that I am Yours.

Amen.

"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life..." - 1 John 5:13 (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

This powerful declaration by Apostle John is not a suggestion, it is a divine assurance. God does not want believers to live in uncertainty, fear, or doubt about their salvation. The phrase “that you may know” reveals God's intention: certainty, confidence, and spiritual security.

Many believers struggle with doubt, guilt, or inconsistency, but this scripture anchors our faith, not in feelings, but in the finished work of Christ. Eternal life is not earned by works; it is received through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

This message corrects three dangerous misconceptions:

  • Salvation is not based on emotions.
  • Salvation is not sustained by human effort.

LIFE ONLY IN CHRIST: THE EXCLUSIVE SOURCE OF ETERNAL LIFE

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Apr 30th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
LIFE ONLY IN CHRIST: THE EXCLUSIVE SOURCE OF ETERNAL LIFE

Image

KEY VERSE

“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” — 1 John 5:12

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

This verse draws a clear and uncompromising line: life, true, eternal, God-given life, is found only in Jesus Christ. Not in religion, not in morality alone, not in human effort. The apostle John the Apostle emphasizes a spiritual reality: to have Christ is to possess life itself.

The “life” spoken of here is not mere physical existence. It is zoe, the divine life of God, full of purpose, peace, and eternal connection with Him. Without the Son, a person may appear alive outwardly but remains spiritually separated from God.

This truth confronts modern thinking that suggests “all paths lead to God.” Scripture teaches otherwise. Jesus is not one of many options, He is the only way (see John 14:6). To reject Him is to reject life itself.

Having the Son means:

  • Believing in Him wholeheartedly
  • Receiving Him as Lord and Savior
  • Walking daily in relationship with Him

Without Him, there is spiritual emptiness now and eternal separation later.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand that salvation is found only in Christ (John 14:6)

  2. To recognize the urgency of receiving Jesus (2 Corinthians 6:2)

  3. To affirm the exclusivity of eternal life (Acts 4:12)

  4. To deepen personal relationship with Christ (Philippians 3:10)

  5. To reject self-righteousness (Ephesians 2:8–9)

  6. To embrace spiritual rebirth (John 3:3)

  7. To live in assurance of salvation (1 John 5:13)

  8. To cultivate obedience to Christ (John 14:15)

  9. To evangelize others boldly (Mark 16:15)

  10. To remain steadfast in faith (Colossians 2:6–7)

BIBLICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO HAVE THE SON

  1. They walk in the light (1 John 1:7)

  2. They love others sincerely (1 John 4:7)

  3. They obey God’s commandments (1 John 2:3)

  4. They overcome the world (1 John 5:4)

  5. They bear spiritual fruit (Galatians 5:22–23)

  6. They hunger for righteousness (Matthew 5:6)

  7. They have peace with God (Romans 5:1)

  8. They are led by the Spirit (Romans 8:14)

  9. They live with eternal perspective (Colossians 3:2)

  10. They confess Jesus boldly (Romans 10:9)

ILLUSTRATIONS

A lamp may look beautiful and well-designed, but without oil, it cannot produce light. Likewise, a life without Christ may appear successful outwardly but lacks the inner light of God.

A branch cut off from a tree may remain green for a short time, but eventually, it withers and dies.

Lesson: Without connection to Christ, spiritual death is inevitable (John 15:5–6).

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Lord Jesus,

I acknowledge that without You, I have no life.
I repent of my sins and my self-centered ways.
Come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.
Wash me clean, restore me, and give me eternal life.
I surrender all to You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN

Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me
Augustus Montague Toplady (1776)

A hymn emphasizing total dependence on Christ alone for salvation.

1. Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.

2. Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill thy law's demands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.

3. Nothing in my hand I bring,
simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress;
helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die.

4. While I draw this fleeting breath,
when mine eyes shall close in death,
when I soar to worlds unknown,
see thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee.

LIFE FOUND ONLY IN THE SON

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

LIFE FOUND ONLY IN THE SON

KEY VERSE

"He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." - 1 John 5:12

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

This verse draws a clear line, life is not found in religion, good works, popularity, or knowledge, but in a Person: Jesus Christ. To “have the Son” means to believe in Him, accept Him, walk with Him, and allow His life to flow through you daily.

The word life here is not just physical existence but eternal, abundant life, peace with God, purpose on earth, and assurance of eternity. Without Christ, a person may be alive physically but spiritually disconnected.

Many try to substitute Jesus with achievements, relationships, or morality, but Scripture makes it plain: life is exclusive to Him. Just as a branch cannot live without the vine, we cannot truly live without Christ.

To have Jesus is to have everything that matters, hope in trials, forgiveness of sins, identity, and eternal security. This truth calls for a serious personal question: Do you truly have the Son?

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

HYMN

I Am Thine, O Lord
Fanny J. Crosby (1875)

A hymn expressing deep desire to draw nearer to Christ and live in His presence.

1. I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
and it told Thy love to me;
but I long to rise in the arms of faith,
and be closer drawn to Thee.

Refrain:

Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
to the cross where Thou hast died;
draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
to Thy precious, bleeding side.

2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
by the pow'r of grace divine;
let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
and my will be lost in Thine.

3. O, the pure delight of a single hour
that before Thy throne I spend,
when I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,
I commune as friend with friend!

4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
till I cross the narrow sea;
there are heights of joy that I may not reach
till I rest in peace with Thee.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

DEEP REFLECTION

If everything else were taken away, success, friends, possessions, would you still have life because you have Christ?

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

No matter how far you’ve gone, life is still available in Jesus. The door is open. His grace is sufficient, and His love is unchanging.

ETERNITY IN VIEW

Eternal life is not something that starts after death, it begins the moment you receive Christ. Where you spend eternity depends on whether you have the Son.

KEY VERSE

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son." - 1 John 5:11 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

This powerful verse declares a foundational truth of the Christian faith: eternal life is not found in religion, good works, or human effort, it is found in a Person, Jesus Christ.

The phrase “this life is in His Son” means that life, true life, eternal life, abundant life, exists exclusively in Jesus. Outside of Him, there is spiritual emptiness, regardless of worldly success or moral effort.

Life in Christ is:

  • Given, not earned (grace, not works)
  • Spiritual before it is physical
  • Eternal, not temporary

To reject the Son is to reject life itself. To receive Him is to receive everything God offers, peace, purpose, forgiveness, and eternity.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand that eternal life is a gift from God (Romans 6:23)

  2. To recognize Jesus as the only source of life (John 14:6)

1. The Source of the River

Lesson: Just as water flows from a source, life flows only from Christ. Without Him, the soul dries spiritually.

2. The Unplugged Device

A phone may be advanced, but without power, it is useless.

Lesson: Without connection to Christ, human life lacks true purpose and eternal value.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Turn away from self-dependence, sin, and misplaced trust. Life outside Christ is spiritual death. Come back to the only true source of life.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Search your heart: Have you truly surrendered to Christ, or are you relying on religion, effort, or appearances? True repentance involves a complete turning, heart, mind, and direction.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

THE ASSURANCE AND REALITY OF ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE ASSURANCE AND REALITY OF ETERNAL LIFE IN CHRIST
Image

KEY VERSE

“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.” - 1 John 5:11

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Eternal life is not merely a future promise, it is a present possession for those who believe in Jesus Christ. The Apostle John makes it clear: eternal life is a gift from God, not something we earn. It is rooted entirely in a relationship with His Son.

This life is not just endless existence; it is a new quality of life, one filled with God’s presence, peace, purpose, and righteousness. Without Christ, life is spiritually empty, no matter how successful it appears. But with Christ, even in hardship, there is hope that stretches beyond time into eternity.

To reject Christ is to reject life itself. To accept Him is to step into an everlasting relationship with God. This truth should reshape how we live daily, our priorities, decisions, and values must reflect eternity.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand eternal life as a gift, not a reward (Ephesians 2:8–9)

  2. To recognize Jesus as the only source of eternal life (John 14:6)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Gift That Must Be Received

A man may be handed a wrapped gift, but if he refuses to receive or open it, it never benefits him.

Lesson: Eternal life is available, but it must be accepted through faith in Christ.

2. The Lamp and the Power Source

A lamp may look perfect, but without being connected to power, it cannot shine.

Lesson: Without Christ, we cannot experience true life; He is our source.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

God has already given eternal life, but many are still living as though this world is all there is. Turn away from sin, unbelief, and spiritual indifference. Return to God wholeheartedly.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Reflect honestly: Have you truly received this life, or are you just familiar with religious words? Eternal life is found in Christ alone, not in church attendance or good deeds.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Lord Jesus,

I acknowledge my sins and my need for You. I believe You died and rose again to give me eternal life. I turn away from my old ways and surrender my life to You. Come into my heart, be my Lord and Savior, and help me live for You.
