WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE LEFT DEATH AND COME OVER INTO LIFE!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Dec 18th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE LEFT DEATH AND COME OVER INTO LIFE!

KEY VERSE

“We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.”
1 John 3:14 (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Christian life is not a moral upgrade; it is a spiritual resurrection.

Scripture declares that humanity outside Christ is not merely weak or lost, but dead in sin (Ephesians 2:1).

Death speaks of separation:

Separation from God, truth, love, and eternal purpose.

But salvation is the miracle of transition; from death to life.

This passage is not emotional language; it is a legal, spiritual, and eternal reality.

When we believe in Christ, repent, and are born again, we cross a divine boundary.

We leave the dominion of darkness and enter the Kingdom of God’s dear Son (Colossians 1:13).

This new life is not hidden; it is evidenced.

John gives a clear proof:

Love.

The life of God produces love for God and love for people.

Where divine life exists, hatred dies, bitterness loses power, and selfishness is crucified.

To “know” we have crossed over is assurance grounded in truth, not feelings.

Eternal life begins now, not after death.

We are living citizens of heaven walking on earth.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF THIS TRUTH

  1. To confirm assurance of salvation (1 John 5:13)
  2. To destroy fear of spiritual death (Romans 8:1)
  3. To establish identity in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17)
  4. To cultivate genuine love for believers (John 13:35)
  5. To separate light from darkness (John 8:12)
  6. To provoke holy living (Romans 6:4)
  7. To awaken spiritual consciousness (Ephesians 5:14)
  8. To empower victory over sin (Romans 6:11)
  9. To anchor hope in eternity (John 5:24)
  10. To prepare believers for glory (Colossians 3:1–4)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Prison Door That Opened

A prisoner sat in his cell long after the sentence had been cancelled.

The door was open, yet fear kept him seated.

Freedom had been granted, but not embraced.

Lesson:

Christ opened the door of life, but many still live like prisoners.

Passing from death to life must be believed, received, and walked out.

2. The Transplanted Tree

A dying tree was uprooted from barren soil and replanted by a river.

Over time, new leaves appeared, fruit followed, and life returned.

Lesson:

Salvation uproots us from death and plants us in Christ.

If the root has changed, the fruit must follow.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you claimed life while walking in hatred, bitterness, or secret sin?

Have you confessed Christ with your lips but denied Him with your lifestyle?

Scripture is clear:

Whoever remains in hatred abides in death.

Today is the day to cross over fully.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Lord, I refuse self-deception.

Expose every trace of death still operating in me.

I renounce bitterness, pride, unforgiveness, and hypocrisy.

I choose life.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Father of Life,

I acknowledge that without Christ I was dead in sin.

I repent of every work of darkness, every act of hatred, and every compromise.

I receive the life of Christ afresh.

Cleanse my heart, renew my spirit, and teach me to walk as one who is truly alive.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

  1. 1 John 3:14 – Love proves spiritual life.
  2. John 5:24 – Believers have already passed into life.
  3. Ephesians 2:1–5 – Grace resurrects the spiritually dead.
  4. Romans 6:4 – New life demands new living.
  5. Colossians 1:13 – A transfer of kingdoms has occurred.
  6. 2 Corinthians 5:17 – Old things truly pass away.
  7. Romans 8:10 – Christ’s life overcomes mortal death.

  9. Galatians 2:20 – Life now lived through Christ.

Summary:

Eternal life begins now and manifests through love, holiness, and hope.

HYMN

And Can It Be
Charles Wesley (1738)

1. And can it be that I should gain
An int'rest in the Savior's blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain?
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me?

Chorus:

Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me!

2. 'Tis mystery all! Th'Immortal dies!
Who can explore His strange design?
In vain the firstborn seraph tries
To sound the depths of love divine!
'Tis mercy all! let earth adore,
Let angel minds inquire no more.

3. He left His Father's throne above,
So free, so infinite His grace;
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam's helpless race;
'Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me.

4. Long my imprisoned spirit lay
Fast bound in sin and nature's night;
Thine eye diffused a quick'ning ray,
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free;
I rose, went forth and followed Thee.

5. No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him is mine!
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,
Bold I approach th'eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Examine your relationships.

Is the life of Christ evident in how you love, forgive, and serve others?

Make peace, restore fellowship, and walk in love today.

DEEP REFLECTION

You do not wait to live after death; you live now because Christ lives in you.

If life has entered, death must exit.

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Beloved, your past does not define you.

You are not who you were.

You are alive in Christ, empowered by grace, and destined for glory.

ETERNITY IN VIEW

Earth is temporary; life in Christ is eternal.

Those who have crossed over will never return to death.

Heaven is not your destination only; it is your citizenship.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I know that I have passed from death into life.

I am alive in Christ, free from condemnation, filled with love, and anchored in eternity.

Amen!
