WE KNOW IT BECAUSE WE LOVE OTHERS!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Dec 19th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE KNOW IT BECAUSE WE LOVE OTHERS!

KEY VERSE

“We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.”
1 John 3:14 (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Love is not merely an emotion or a personality trait, it is the evidence of spiritual life.

According to Scripture, love for others is the unmistakable proof that God’s life is active within us.

John does not say we feel it, we claim it, or we confess it, he says we know it because it is demonstrated through love.

Christian love is not selective, convenient, or conditional.

It flows from a transformed heart.

When Christ moves us from death to life:

Selfishness gives way to sacrifice;
Hatred to forgiveness; and
Indifference to compassion.

A faith that does not love is incomplete.

A confession without love is empty.

Love is the fruit, evidence, and testimony of true salvation.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF LOVING OTHERS

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Tree and Its Fruit

A tree is identified not by its label but by its fruit.

No matter how healthy it claims to be, if it bears no fruit, it is questioned.

Lesson:

Love is the fruit of spiritual life.

If love is absent, the root must be examined.

2. The Bridge Over the River

Two villages were divided by a dangerous river.

Many spoke about unity, but only one man built a bridge, at great personal cost.

Lesson:

Love is not spoken; it is built through action, sacrifice, and intentional effort.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you allowed bitterness, offense, pride, or unforgiveness to replace love in your heart?

Have you confessed Christ with your lips but denied Him by your lack of love?

God calls us back to active, sincere lovenot selective affection.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Lord, I confess that I have sometimes loved in words but not in truth.

I have withheld kindness, harbored resentment, and chosen comfort over compassion.

I repent deeply and return to Your way of love.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Father of love,

Forgive me for every moment I failed to love as You have loved me.

Cleanse my heart from hatred, bitterness, and selfishness

Restore in me the love that reflects Your nature.

Let my faith be proven through love, and my life become a channel of Your compassion.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN

They’ll Know We Are Christians by Our Love
Peter Scholtes (1966)

1. We are one in the Spirit,
we are one in the Lord,
we are one in the Spirit,
we are one in the Lord,
and we pray that all unity
will one day be restored

Chorus:

And they'll know we are Christians
by our love, by our love,
And they'll know we are Christians
by our love.

2. We will walk with each other,
we will walk hand in hand,
we will walk with each other,
we will walk hand in hand,
and together we'll spread the news
that God is in our land.

3. We will work with each other,
we will work side by side,
we will work with each other,
we will work side by side,
and we'll guard each one's dignity
and save each one's pride.

4. All praise to the Father,
from whom all things come,
and all praise to Christ Jesus,
who is God's only Son,
and all praise to the Spirit,
who makes us one,

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Intentionally show love today, through forgiveness, generosity, encouragement, or service, especially to someone who least expects it.

DEEP REFLECTION

If someone examined your life without hearing your words, would they conclude that you belong to Christ, by how you love?

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Even when love is difficult, remember:

God’s love flows through you, not from you.

You are not the source, He is.

ETERNITY IN VIEW

Love is eternal.

Gifts will fade;

Knowledge will pass; but

Love will follow us into eternity.

Every act of love echoes forever.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I know I belong to Christ because His love lives in me.

I choose love over hatred;

Forgiveness over offense; and

Compassion over indifference.

My life will testify that I have passed from death to life.

PRAYER POINTS

  1. Father, thank You for loving me first, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Lord, cleanse my heart from every trace of hatred, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Holy Spirit, pour divine love into my heart afresh, in the name of Jesus.
  4. Father, help me love beyond words and emotions, in the name of Jesus.
  5. Lord, heal every wound that hinders my love, in the name of Jesus.
  6. Father, make me a reflection of Christ’s love, in the name of Jesus.
  7. Lord, break every barrier to unity in my relationships, in the name of Jesus.
  8. Father, let my love draw others to Christ, in the name of Jesus.
  9. Lord, empower me to forgive as You forgave me, in the name of Jesus.
  10. Father, let love define my walk daily, in the name of Jesus.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION

I declare that the love of God abides richly in me.

I have passed from death to life.

My heart is free from hatred, my hands are active in compassion, and my life reveals Christ.

Through love, I overcome darkness, fulfill God’s purpose, and prepare for eternity.

I walk in love, I live in love, and I finish in love;

In the mighty name of Jesus.

Amen.
