HE WHO IS NOT OF GOD DOES NOT HEAR US!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Feb 8th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
HE WHO IS NOT OF GOD DOES NOT HEAR US!

KEY VERSE

We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. - 1 John 4:6

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

In 1 John 4:6, Apostle John draws a sharp line between those who belong to God and those who do not. He declares:
“We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.”

This scripture shows that spiritual hearing is not physical, it is a function of identity, alignment, and obedience.

Those who belong to God recognize His voice, respond to His instructions, and honour His truth. But those not aligned with God’s Spirit resist, reject, or ignore His message. This is why two people can hear the same sermon:

• One is transformed,

• The other remains unchanged.

This verse reminds believers that the world will not always accept our message, but acceptance is not our assignment, faithfulness is.
It also warns us personally: if we ever find ourselves struggling to obey, arguing endlessly with scripture, or resisting God’s will, it may be a sign that our hearts need realignment.

The test of being “of God” is not loud religion, but a heart that hears Him, loves His truth, and responds to His Word.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the difference between the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

  2. To cultivate a heart that responds willingly to God’s voice.

  3. To increase discernment in a world filled with conflicting voices.

  4. To learn how spiritual identity shapes spiritual hearing.

  5. To grow in obedience and submission to God's instructions.

  6. To discern true teachers and true doctrine through scripture.

  7. To develop sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

  8. To separate ourselves from influences that oppose God’s truth.

  9. To strengthen our walk in righteousness and holiness.

  10. To boldly uphold God’s Word even when the world rejects it.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO ARE “OF GOD”

  1. They hear God’s voiceJohn 10:27

  2. They obey His commandmentsJohn 14:21

  3. They love righteousness and truthPsalm 119:97

  4. They walk in the SpiritGalatians 5:16

  5. They bear godly fruitJohn 15:5

  6. They reject false doctrineMatthew 7:15–16

  7. They love the brethren1 John 4:7

  8. They persevere in trialsJames 1:12

  9. They submit to divine correctionHebrews 12:6

  10. They uphold the authority of Scripture2 Timothy 3:16

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Shepherd’s Call

A shepherd entered a crowded marketplace where several flocks were gathered.

People wondered how each shepherd would separate their sheep.

When he called out, only his sheep responded and followed, ignoring all other voices.

Lesson:

Identity determines response.

If you truly belong to God, His voice compels you.

If God’s truth does not move a person, it is a sign that the heart is not aligned with Him.

2. Two Students, One Teacher

A teacher explained a mathematics principle.

One student understood immediately and applied it.

The other refused to listen, arguing that he had a better method.

Even after proving his method wrong, he still insisted on his own way.

Lesson:

Truth is not received by stubborn hearts.

The spirit of error blinds, but a humble heart receives, understands, and obeys.

A CALL TO REPENTANCE

Wherever your heart has resisted God’s instructions…

Wherever you have argued against His Word…

Wherever pride, stubbornness, or distraction has made you deaf to His voice…

Return today.

Let the Holy Spirit soften your heart.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Cry out for the Lord to remove every spiritual deafness:

• pride

• self-will

• rebellion

• worldliness

• wrong associations

unteachable spirit

Ask God to strip away anything that stops you from hearing and obeying Him.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Father,

I come before You in humility.

Cleanse my heart from every resistance to Your Word.

Remove the spirit of error and fill me with the spirit of truth.

Break every hardness of heart and give me a new, obedient spirit.

Help me hear, love, and follow Your voice always.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

HYMN

Trust and Obey
John H. Sammis (1887)

1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Ask yourself throughout today:

“What is God saying to me, and am I obeying immediately?”

Write down any instructions you sense in your heart, and act on them.

Do I choose truth even when it requires sacrifice?

Can God interrupt my plans and I still say “Yes, Lord”?

HE WHO KNOWS GOD HEARS US!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Feb 7th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
HE WHO KNOWS GOD HEARS US!

KEY VERSE

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us... — 1 John 4:6

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Hearing God, and being heard by God, is one of the greatest privileges of those who truly know Him.

In a world full of noise, confusion, and mixed voices, Scripture assures us that only those who belong to God can hear, discern, and respond to His voice.

Likewise, only those who walk with God can be confident that God hears their prayers.

To “know God” is deeper than religious duty; it is an intimate relationship characterized by obedience, spiritual sensitivity, and alignment with His will.

When a person’s heart is tuned to God, they naturally recognize when He speaks through Scripture, the Holy Spirit, divine instructions, godly counsel, or spiritual authority.

The ability to hear God is not magical, it is relational.

Jesus said,

My sheep hear My voice (John 10:27),

meaning that divine communication is the birthright of every true believer.

It is a sign of belonging and a proof of spiritual identity.

Similarly, when 1 John 4:6 says

He who knows God hears us,”

it reminds us that the voice of God’s true servants is recognized by those who genuinely walk with God.

Those who reject God’s voice naturally reject the vessels God uses.

To know God is to hear Him.

And to hear Him is to be transformed by His truth.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF THIS DEVOTIONAL

  1. To understand the relationship between knowing God and hearing His voice.

  2. To strengthen the believer’s confidence in God’s responsiveness.

  3. To encourage spiritual sensitivity in decision-making.

  4. To empower believers to discern truth from error.

  5. To emphasize obedience as a proof of knowing God.

  6. To deepen intimacy with the Holy Spirit.

  7. To highlight the value of Scriptural authority.

  8. To expose the danger of spiritual deafness.

  9. To promote spiritual growth rooted in genuine relationship with God.

  10. To assure believers that God hears and answers His own.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE Who KNOW GOD

  1. They obey His commandmentsJohn 14:21

  2. They walk in righteousness1 John 2:29

  3. They love God and His people1 John 4:7

  4. They discern spiritual truth1 Corinthians 2:14–15

  5. They are led by the SpiritRomans 8:14

  6. They have peace, not confusionIsaiah 30:21

  7. They follow the voice of Jesus — John 10:27

  8. They produce spiritual fruitsMatthew 7:17–20

1. The Shepherd’s Whisper

A shepherd once visited a marketplace with his sheep.

Many other flocks were mixed together with noise and confusion.

A visitor wondered how the shepherd would separate his sheep from the others.

The shepherd simply whistled, and instantly, only his sheep lifted their heads and followed him.

Lesson:

Those who belong to God are not confused by the voices of the world.

They recognize God’s whisper, even in a noisy generation.

2. The Father’s Call at Midnight

A father heard a cry at midnight.

Many children lived in the compound, but he could immediately identify the voice of his own child.

Without hesitation, he ran toward the sound.

Lesson:

God knows the voice of His children, and His children know His.

When you cry out, heaven responds, not because of volume, but relationship.

WE ARE OF GOD!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Feb 6th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE ARE OF GOD!

KEY VERSE

We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. - 1 John 4:6 NKJV

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

To say “We are of God” is to declare identity, ownership, purpose, and spiritual authority.

It is a heavenly verdict over everyone born of God through Christ Jesus.

This simple yet profound truth determines how we live, think, speak, and overcome the world.

1 John 4:4 says,

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Being “of God” means we originate from Him, belong to Him, and operate by His power, nature, and Spirit.

It means we are not ordinary, not victims, not abandoned, not helpless, not confused, and never without hope.

When trials rise, we remember:

  • Our source is God.

  • Our strength is God.

  • Our victory is God.

  • Our identity is God.

  • Our destiny is God.

Therefore, nothing in this world is permitted to overpower the one whose root and life are hidden in God.

Standing on this truth transforms fear into faith, weakness into strength, and confusion into divine direction.

Living with the consciousness that “We are of God” repositions us from earthly limitation to supernatural dominion.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand our identity as children of God (1 John 3:1).

  2. To know our spiritual origin in Christ (John 1:12–13).

  3. To embrace the authority we have in God (Luke 10:19).

  4. To build confidence in God’s indwelling presence (1 Cor. 3:16).

  5. To walk in victory through God’s power (Romans 8:37).

  6. To live a life separated from sin (1 Peter 1:15–16).

  7. To reflect God’s character to the world (Matt. 5:16).

  8. To reject fear and embrace divine boldness (2 Tim. 1:7).

  9. To deepen fellowship with the Father (James 4:8).

  10. To stand firm in spiritual identity and purpose (Eph. 2:10).

  3. They love one another1 John 4:7

  4. They overcome the world1 John 5:4

  5. They bear spiritual fruitJohn 15:5

  7. They shine as light in darknessMatt. 5:14

  8. They walk by faith2 Cor. 5:7

  9. They live by the SpiritGal. 5:25

  10. They manifest divine wisdomJames 3:17

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Lamp Connected to the Source

A lamp may look beautiful, polished, and well-designed, but without connection to electricity it remains dark.

Once connected, its purpose becomes visible.

Lesson:

We shine only when connected to God

Our identity, strength, and purpose flow from our spiritual Source

Without God, activity has no power; with God, power produces purpose.

The Eagle in the Storm

While other birds flee from storms, the eagle turns toward the wind, using its force to rise higher.

Lesson:

People who are of God don’t run from challenges.

They rise through them because God’s nature empowers them.

Storms become platforms for elevation.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, to be “of God” is not automatic, it begins with surrendering your life fully to Christ.

God calls you today to return to Him, leave the path of sin, and embrace the identity He designed for you.

Nothing in this world can replace the joy, peace, and strength found in God.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Let your heart speak truthfully:

“Lord, I have wandered in my own strength.

I have drifted from Your purpose.

I surrender my heart, my habits, my desires, and my future.

Cleanse me deeply and restore me fully.”

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Father,

I come in humility.

I confess my sins and turn away from everything that separates me from You.

Wash me with the blood of Jesus

Make me Your own.

Renew my heart, fill me with Your Spirit, and help me live as one who truly belongs to You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

THE WORLD HEARS THEM!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Feb 5th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE WORLD HEARS THEM!

KEY VERSE

“They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.” - 1 John 4:5

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Apostle John draws a striking contrast between the voices that shape the world and the voice of God.

They are of the world,” refers to individuals, systems, ideologies, and influences rooted in worldly values, pride, pleasure, rebellion, deceit, and self-worship.

Such voices speak what the world desires to hear, so the world listens eagerly.

But for the believer, this verse is a spiritual call to discernment.

It reminds us that not every message, prophecy, idea, or influence comes from God.

Many voices today gain global acceptance because they echo worldly desires.

They appeal to emotions, culture, popularity, and convenience, yet they are not aligned with the Kingdom of God.

The world hears them because:

  • They speak what pleases worldly hearts.

  • They avoid truth that convicts.

  • They offer comfort without transformation.

  • They promise gain without godliness.

  • They promote self over surrender.

As children of God:

  • Our lives must be different.
  • Our speech must reflect heaven.
  • Our character must represent Christ.

Even if the world does not applaud us, heaven will.

The call is clear:

Do not follow the voices the world celebrates, follow the voice of God.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To help believers discern between the voice of the world and the voice of God.

  2. To strengthen spiritual alertness and sensitivity to truth.

  3. To expose the deceptive nature of worldly ideologies.

  4. To draw believers back to the authority of Scripture.

  5. To cultivate boldness to stand for truth even when unpopular.

  6. To deepen spiritual intimacy with God through obedience.

  7. To encourage separation from worldliness.

  8. To awaken believers to spiritual warfare over influence and voice.

  9. To restore confidence in God’s voice and guidance.

  10. To inspire believers to be God’s ambassadors in a noisy world.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO SPEAK LIKE THE WORLD

  1. They reject God’s truthRomans 1:25

  2. They love worldly praiseJohn 12:43

  3. They promote self-desire over God’s will2 Timothy 3:2

  4. Their message lacks spiritual substanceJeremiah 23:16

  5. They are motivated by gain, not godliness1 Timothy 6:5

  6. They are influenced by the spirit of error1 John 4:6

  7. They distort Scripture2 Peter 3:16

  8. They speak to please listeners, not God2 Timothy 4:3

  9. They refuse correction and repentanceProverbs 15:10

  10. They lead others away from righteousnessMatthew 15:14

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. THE POPULAR VOICE, THE DANGEROUS ROAD

A certain young man always followed trends.

If the world celebrated a new lifestyle, he joined it.

If the world endorsed a new moral standard, he embraced it.

Everyone applauded him, he was “updated,” “modern,” “in tune.”

But one day, he realized the applause of the world could not save his soul.

He had built his life around voices that made him comfortable but not holy.

Lesson:

The world may celebrate you today, but only God’s truth can secure your eternity.

2. THE QUIET VOICE THAT SAVED A LIFE

A woman prayed for direction.

She wanted a loud confirmation.

Instead, she heard a gentle whisper: Wait.”

Even though friends pushed her to rush, she obeyed God’s voice.

Months later, the opportunity proved to be a trap, and she realized the whisper had saved her destiny.

Lesson:

God’s voice is not always loud, but it is always life-giving.

A CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you been following voices that please the world but grieve the Holy Spirit?

Have you allowed worldly trends to dilute your convictions?

God calls you today:

Return to Me.

Tune your heart back to My voice.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Lord, I confess that I have allowed worldly influences, desires, and voices to cloud my judgment.

I return to You wholly.

Burn away every appetite for the world.

Purify my motives.

Restore my spiritual sensitivity.

Re-align my steps with Your Word.

Let Your voice become my priority again.

Amen.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come before You with humility.

Forgive me for following voices that are not Yours.

Wash me with the blood of Jesus

Renew my mind.

Restore my passion for truth.

Fill me with Your Spirit and give me grace to obey You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

HYMN

Open My Eyes, That I May See
Clara H. Scott (1895)

1. Open my eyes, that I may see
glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
place in my hands the wonderful key,
that shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
ready, my God, Thy will to see;
open my eyes, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

2. Open my ears, that I may hear
voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
and while the wave-notes fall on my ear,
ev’rything false will disappear.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
ready, my God, Thy will to see;
open my ears, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

3. Open my mouth, and let me bear
gladly the warm truth ev’rywhere;
Open my heart, and let me prepare
love with Thy children thus to share.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
ready, my God, Thy will to see;
open my mouth, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Identify one worldly voice or influence you must disconnect from today, social, relational, digital, or emotional, and replace it with a scripture-based practice.

DEEP REFLECTION

Whose voice truly guides my decisions?

Does heaven recognize my allegiance by the choices I make?

If the world hears them, does heaven hear me?

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

You are not called to echo the world; you are called to represent God.

Even if the world ignores your convictions, heaven celebrates your obedience.
