THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Feb 7th, 2026
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
HE WHO KNOWS GOD HEARS US!
KEY VERSE
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us... — 1 John 4:6
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Hearing God, and being heard by God, is one of the greatest privileges of those who truly know Him.
In a world full of noise, confusion, and mixed voices, Scripture assures us that only those who belong to God can hear, discern, and respond to His voice.
Likewise, only those who walk with God can be confident that God hears their prayers.
To “know God” is deeper than religious duty; it is an intimate relationship characterized by obedience, spiritual sensitivity, and alignment with His will.
When a person’s heart is tuned to God, they naturally recognize when He speaks through Scripture, the Holy Spirit, divine instructions, godly counsel, or spiritual authority.
The ability to hear God is not magical, it is relational.
Jesus said,
meaning that divine communication is the birthright of every true believer.
It is a sign of belonging and a proof of spiritual identity.
Similarly, when 1 John 4:6 says
it reminds us that the voice of God’s true servants is recognized by those who genuinely walk with God.
Those who reject God’s voice naturally reject the vessels God uses.
To know God is to hear Him.
And to hear Him is to be transformed by His truth.
BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF THIS DEVOTIONAL
To understand the relationship between knowing God and hearing His voice.
To strengthen the believer’s confidence in God’s responsiveness.
To encourage spiritual sensitivity in decision-making.
To empower believers to discern truth from error.
To emphasize obedience as a proof of knowing God.
To deepen intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
To highlight the value of Scriptural authority.
To expose the danger of spiritual deafness.
To promote spiritual growth rooted in genuine relationship with God.
To assure believers that God hears and answers His own.

ILLUSTRATIONS
1. The Shepherd’s Whisper
A shepherd once visited a marketplace with his sheep.
Many other flocks were mixed together with noise and confusion.
A visitor wondered how the shepherd would separate his sheep from the others.
The shepherd simply whistled, and instantly, only his sheep lifted their heads and followed him.
Lesson:
Those who belong to God are not confused by the voices of the world.
They recognize God’s whisper, even in a noisy generation.
2. The Father’s Call at Midnight
A father heard a cry at midnight.
Many children lived in the compound, but he could immediately identify the voice of his own child.
Without hesitation, he ran toward the sound.
Lesson:
God knows the voice of His children, and His children know His.
When you cry out, heaven responds, not because of volume, but relationship.

HYMN
Trust and Obey
John H. Sammis (1887)
This hymn emphasizes obedience as the pathway to intimacy with God, perfect for this devotional.
1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.
2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
