WE KNOW THAT WHEN CHRIST APPEARS!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE KNOW THAT WHEN CHRIST APPEARS!

KEY VERSE

“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”1 John 3:2 (NIV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

This verse is one of the most glorious promises in Scripture.

It is a reminder of our identity and destiny as children of God.

Though the world does not recognize who we truly are now, a time is coming when the hidden glory of the believer will be revealed.

The phrase “when Christ appears” points to the Second Coming of Jesus, a moment of transformation, fulfillment, and eternal joy.

On that day, those who have walked in faith and holiness will behold Him face-to-face, clothed in immortality, and transformed into His likeness (Philippians 3:20–21).

This is not a vague hope but a living assurance rooted in the faithfulness of God.

It calls every believer to live in readiness, purity, and expectation.

The true measure of our Christianity is not in earthly success but in our preparation for His return.

The appearing of Christ is not a myth; it is a divine certainty:

  • His first coming brought redemption,
  • His present intercession sustains us, and
  • His coming glory will complete our transformation.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO WAIT FOR CHRIST’S APPEARING

  1. They Live in Purity – They keep themselves from sin in anticipation of His coming (1 John 3:3).

  2. They Walk in Faith – They hold firm to the promises of God (Hebrews 10:38).

  3. They Endure Trials with Hope – Their eyes are fixed on eternal glory (Romans 8:18).

  4. They Are Heaven-Minded – Their hearts are set on things above (Colossians 3:1–4).

  5. They Love His Appearing – They eagerly long for His return (2 Timothy 4:8).

  6. They Serve Faithfully – They use their gifts until He comes (Luke 19:13).

  7. They Shine as Lights – Reflecting Christ’s nature in a dark world (Matthew 5:16).

  8. They Keep Watch and Pray – They live spiritually alert (Matthew 26:41).

  9. They Encourage One Another – Comforting and strengthening fellow believers (1 Thessalonians 4:18).

  10. They Remain Faithful Till the End – Their hope endures (Revelation 2:10).

HYMN

When We All Get to Heaven
Eliza E. Hewitt (1898)

1. Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace;
In the mansions bright and blessed
He'll prepare for us a place.

Chorus:

When we all get to heaven,
what a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
we'll sing and shout the victory!

2. While we walk the pilgrim pathway
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when trav'ling days are over
Not a shadow, not a sigh.

3. Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving ev'ry day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.

4. Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we'll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open–
We shall tread the streets of gold.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Spend time reflecting on eternity.

Ask yourself:

Am I living as if Christ could return today?

Let your choices, words, and actions reflect readiness and love for His appearing.

DEEP REFLECTION

The glory that awaits believers cannot be compared to any earthly gain.

The pain, waiting, and struggles of today are temporary.

A day is coming when you will see Jesus face-to-face.

Live not for applause, but for that moment when He says,

Well done, good and faithful servant.
