WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Nov 11th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM!

KEY VERSE

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.”1 John 3:2 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

This verse is both a revelation and a promise.

It reveals who we are now, children of God, and what we will become, like Christ.

The transformation begins now and will be perfected when Christ returns.

To “be like Him” means to reflect His glory, nature, purity, and love.

It means to be completely free from sin, sorrow, sickness, and death.

This likeness is not only physical but spiritual and moral, we shall share in His divine nature (2 Peter 1:4).

Even now, God is shaping us daily through the Word, trials, and the Holy Spirit, to conform us to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29).

This process may be slow, sometimes painful, but it leads to eternal beauty and perfection.

Therefore, this promise should motivate us to live in holiness, humility, and hope, because when Christ appears, only those who have kept themselves pure will share in His likeness and glory.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO SHALL BE LIKE HIM

  1. They Are Born of God – (John 1:12-13) Children of God by new birth.
  2. They Walk in the Spirit – (Galatians 5:16) Their lives are led by the Spirit, not the flesh.
  3. They Pursue Holiness – (Hebrews 12:14) They live separated unto God.
  4. They Love Righteousness – (1 John 2:29) Their hearts hunger for what is right.
  5. They Bear the Fruit of the Spirit – (Galatians 5:22-23) Their character reflects Christ.
  6. They Endure Trials with Faith – (James 1:12) Testing refines them into His image.
  7. They Forgive Freely – (Ephesians 4:32) They mirror God’s mercy.
  8. They Live in Hope of His Appearing – (Titus 2:13) Their eyes are fixed on eternity.
  9. They Are Transformed by the Word – (Romans 12:2) Renewal shapes their minds like Christ.
  10. They Radiate His Glory – (2 Corinthians 3:18) The more they behold Him, the more they reflect Him.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Sculptor and the Marble

A sculptor was asked how he made such a beautiful statue of a lion.

He replied,

I simply chipped away everything that didn’t look like a lion.

Lesson:

God is the Master Sculptor.

Every trial, test, and correction chips away what doesn’t look like Christ, until His image is fully revealed in you.

2. The Mirror of Transformation

A child often stood before a mirror beside his father.

The father said,

One day, you’ll look just like me.

Years passed, and the boy’s features, posture, and tone became identical to his father’s.

Lesson:

When you keep beholding Christ through His Word and presence, you are transformed daily into His image (2 Corinthians 3:18).

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you forgotten who you are becoming?

Have sin, distraction, or worldliness blurred your reflection of Christ?

Beloved, God is calling you to return to the path of purity, obedience, and hope.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Say to God from your heart:

Lord, I’ve allowed sin and the world to distort Your image in me.

Forgive me.

Restore in me the likeness of Christ.

Renew my mind, cleanse my heart, and make me more like You each day.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I thank You for calling me Your child.

Forgive me for every thought, word, and deed that has not reflected Your image.

Wash me clean by the blood of Jesus.

Create in me a pure heart, renew a right spirit within me, and help me walk daily in Christlikeness.

Let my life be a living mirror of Your glory until that day when I shall see You face to face and be like You forever.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

  1. 1 John 3:2 – We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
  2. Romans 8:29 – God predestined us to be conformed to the image of His Son.
  3. 2 Corinthians 3:18 – We are being transformed into His image from glory to glory.
  4. Philippians 3:20–21 – He will transform our lowly body to be like His glorious body.
  5. Colossians 3:10 – We have put on the new self, renewed in knowledge after His image.
  6. 1 Corinthians 15:49 – As we bore the image of the earthly, we shall bear the image of the heavenly.
  7. Psalm 17:15 – When I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing Your likeness.

HYMN

O to Be Like Thee
Thomas O. Chisholm (1897)

1. O to be like Thee! Blessed Redeemer,
this is my constant longing and prayer;
gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Chorus:

Oh! to be like Thee! O to be like Thee,
blessed Redeemer, pure as Thou art!
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

2. O to be like Thee! Full of compassion,
loving, forgiving, tender, and kind;
helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
seeking the wand’ring sinner to find.

3. O to be like Thee! Lowly in spirit,
holy and harmless, patient, and brave;
meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
willing to suffer, others to save.

4. O to be like Thee! Lord, I am coming
now to receive th’anointing divine;
all that I am and have I am bringing,
Lord, from this moment all shall be Thine.

5. O to be like Thee! While I am pleading,
pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
fit me for life and heaven above.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Spend intentional time in reflection and prayer.

Ask God to reveal areas in your life that still resist His transformation.

Memorize one verse (e.g., 2 Corinthians 3:18) and meditate on it throughout your day.

DEEP REFLECTION

Transformation is not instantaneous, it’s a lifelong process.

God’s goal isn’t to make you a better version of yourself, but to make you like Christ.

Each day is a sculptor’s stroke toward that divine image.

Ask yourself:

Does my life today look a little more like Jesus than it did yesterday?

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Do not be discouraged by your imperfections.

The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is working in you.

Every trial, every prayer, every tear, all are shaping you into His likeness.

You are a masterpiece in progress, and God finishes what He starts.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I am a child of God.

The life of Christ flows in me.

I am being transformed daily into His image and glory.

I renounce sin, fear, and worldliness.

My eyes are fixed on Jesus.

When He appears, I shall be like Him, radiant, victorious, and full of His glory!

Amen.

PRAYER POINTS

  2. Lord, transform my heart to reflect Your holiness, in the name of Jesus.
  3. Father, remove every trait in me that does not look like Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
  4. Holy Spirit, renew my mind daily through Your Word, in the name of Jesus.
  5. Lord, help me endure every refining process with faith and patience, in the name of Jesus.
  6. Father, let my life radiate Your glory in words and deeds, in the name of Jesus.
  7. Lord, fill me with love, humility, and compassion like Christ, in the name of Jesus.
  8. Father, prepare me for Your coming, spotless and faithful, in the name of Jesus.
  9. Lord, grant me grace to overcome the temptations that distort Your image in me, in the name of Jesus.
  10. Father, let the world see Jesus in me and be drawn to Your light, in the name of Jesus.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION

I am being transformed into the image of Christ!

I am destined for glory, and when He appears, I shall be like Him, perfected, purified, and glorified!

Amen!
