WHAT WE WILL BE HAS NOT YET BEEN MADE KNOWN!

KEY VERSE

“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” — 1 John 3:2 (NIV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

John’s words remind believers that though we are already God’s children, the full expression of what that means is still unfolding.

Our present life in Christ is a preview, not the final form.

We are being shaped, refined, and prepared for eternal glory.

The Father’s plan is greater than what eyes can see or minds can imagine (1 Corinthians 2:9).

We may now face trials, imperfections, or rejection, but these are temporary; what awaits us is transformation into the likeness of Christ.

This verse calls us to live with hope, purity, and expectation.

The journey of faith is not static; it’s progressive.

Every prayer, act of obedience, and moment of perseverance moves us closer to what God designed us to be, radiant reflections of His Son.

Though the world may not recognize who you are, God sees the masterpiece in progress.

You may look ordinary now, but within you is divine glory waiting to be revealed.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE BECOMING WHAT GOD HAS ORDAINED

1. Identity in Christ – You are already God’s child. (1 John 3:1–2)
2. Transforming by the Spirit – The Holy Spirit shapes you into Christ’s image. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
3. Purity of Hope – This hope inspires holiness. (1 John 3:3)
4. Perseverance in Trials – Tests refine the believer’s character. (James 1:2–4)
5. Faith in the Unseen – We walk by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
6. Heavenly Focus – Set your mind on things above. (Colossians 3:2–4)
7. Conformity to Christ – Predestined to be like the Son. (Romans 8:29)
8. Eternal Perspective – Our present sufferings are temporary. (2 Corinthians 4:17)
9. Joyful Expectation – We await His appearing with joy. (Titus 2:13)
10. Unfailing Hope – Christ in us is the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Sculptor and the Stone

A sculptor once worked tirelessly on a rough block of marble.

People mocked him, saying,

It’s just a stone!

But months later, a magnificent statue emerged.

When asked how he did it, the sculptor replied,

I saw the figure inside and chipped away everything that wasn’t it.

Lesson:
God sees what we shall be and uses time, trials, and truth to chip away everything that doesn’t look like Christ.

Don’t despise the process; it’s shaping your eternal beauty.

2. The Caterpillar and the Butterfly

A caterpillar spends days crawling, hidden inside a cocoon, still, silent, unseen.

Yet, within, a miracle happens.

One day, it emerges as a butterfly, radiant and free.

Lesson:
Your current state is not your final state.

God’s transformation often happens in hidden seasons.

What you will be, glorious, powerful, and free, will soon be revealed.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you lost sight of your eternal destiny?

Have worldly struggles or sins dulled your hope?

God calls you back to purity and expectation.

The journey is not over, He is still working on you.

Return to Him and renew your hope.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Say sincerely:

Father, forgive me for limiting You by my doubts and distractions. 

Forgive me for focusing on what I see instead of what You promised. 

I surrender afresh to Your transforming hand. 

Shape me into what You designed me to be.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I humble myself before You. 

Forgive me for every sin, fear, and unbelief that hindered Your work in me. 

Wash me with the blood of Jesus and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 

I yield myself completely, mold me into Your likeness. 

Help me to live with hope, faith, and holiness as I await the fullness of Your glory.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

1. Romans 8:18 – Present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory to be revealed.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Spend time reflecting on your spiritual growth.

Identify one area where God is shaping you.

Instead of resisting, thank Him for the process.

Declare each morning this week:

Lord, keep transforming me until I look like Jesus.

DEEP REFLECTION

The mystery of your destiny is not hidden from God, only from sight.

Every challenge you face is part of your becoming.

Don’t measure your worth by what is visible; measure it by what He promised.

ENCOURAGEMENT

Beloved, don’t give up.

You may not see the full picture, but Heaven is cheering you on.

What you will be is glorious, radiant with Christ’s likeness, crowned with victory.

Keep trusting the Potter’s hands.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I am a child of God.

Though what I will be has not yet been revealed, I know I shall be like Christ.

Every trial refines me, every prayer transforms me, and every season draws me closer to glory.

I am being changed from glory to glory, and my future in Christ is certain.

Amen.

I declare that I am a work of divine art in progress.

What I will be is greater than what I see now.

Every hidden glory within me will manifest.

I am being transformed by the Spirit, strengthened by grace, and prepared for eternal glory.

My destiny will not be aborted, and my future will not be delayed.

I shall be like Christ, shining with His glory, in the mighty name of Jesus.
