BELOVED, NOW WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
BELOVED, NOW WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD!

KEY VERSE

“Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be; but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”1 John 3:2 (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

This verse carries both identity and destiny.

John calls us “beloved”, loved deeply by God, and then reminds us of our current standing:

We are children of God now, not later, not in heaven, but right now through faith in Christ Jesus.

Becoming a child of God is not by birthright or effort but by grace through adoption. (John 1:12; Romans 8:15).

It means we are partakers of His divine nature, co-heirs with Christ, and beneficiaries of His promises.

However, being His child also means being in a process of transformation.

John says,

It has not yet been revealed what we shall be.

This means the world may not yet see your full glory, but when Christ appears, the divine likeness in you will be perfected.

To be a child of God is to:

  • Walk in the light,
  • Live in obedience,
  • Reflect His love, and
  • Manifest His nature in righteousness.

It is a call to spiritual maturity, purity, and purpose.

Your true identity is not defined by your past, occupation, tribe, or title, it is defined by the Father who calls you His child.

CHARACTERISTICS OF GOD’S CHILDREN

  1. Born of the Spirit – (John 3:5-6) They are regenerated, not by flesh but by the Spirit.
  2. Led by the Spirit – (Romans 8:14) They follow God’s direction, not worldly impulses.
  3. Lovers of Righteousness – (1 John 3:10) They pursue holiness and truth.
  4. Peace Makers – (Matthew 5:9) They carry the Father’s heart into the world.
  5. Obedient to the Word – (John 14:23) They prove their love through obedience.
  6. Overcomers – (1 John 5:4) They live victorious lives through faith.
  7. Hopeful and Purified – (1 John 3:3) They live with eternal perspective and moral purity.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Adopted Prince

A poor boy was adopted by a king and brought to the palace.

Though still learning royal manners, the boy often forgot who he was and played in the mud outside the gates.

The king patiently reminded him,

You are no longer a beggar, you are my son.

Lesson:
Many believers still live beneath their royal identity, returning to sin or shame.

But God calls us daily to rise and walk as His children, cleansed, loved, and crowned.

2. The Family Resemblance

A child often imitates the father’s walk, speech, and habits.

People who knew the father would smile and say,

He’s just like his dad.

Lesson:
When God’s children live in love, truth, and purity, the world recognizes the Father in them. Let your character reflect heaven’s resemblance.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you been living like a stranger to your Father’s love?

Have sin, fear, or shame made you forget your identity in Christ?

Today, return to the Father who calls you “Beloved.”

Reclaim your royal identity and walk as His true child.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Say sincerely:

Lord, I have often acted like an orphan instead of Your child.

I have doubted Your care and walked away from Your presence.

Forgive me.

Restore my identity in You.

Help me live in the light of who I truly am, Your beloved child.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I thank You for calling me Your child through Jesus Christ.

Forgive me for living beneath my divine identity and for doubting Your love.

Cleanse me from every sin that distances me from You.

Lord, renew my heart, restore my confidence, and teach me to walk daily as Your beloved child, in righteousness, faith, and love.

In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

  1. 1 John 3:1-2 – Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God.
  2. Romans 8:15-17 – You have received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba, Father.”
  3. John 1:12 – To all who received Him, He gave the right to become children of God.
  4. Galatians 4:6-7 – Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into your hearts.
  5. 2 Corinthians 6:18 – I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters.
  6. Ephesians 5:1-2 – Be imitators of God as beloved children, and walk in love.
  7. Philippians 2:15 – Shine as children of God in a crooked generation.

HYMN

Children of the Heavenly King
John Cennick (1742)

1. Children of the heavenly King,
As we journey let us sing;
Sing our Savior’s worthy praise,
Glorious in His works and ways,
Glorious in His works and ways.

2. We are traveling home to God,
In the way our fathers trod;
They are happy now, and we
Soon their happiness shall see,
Soon their happiness shall see.

3. Fear not, brethren; joyful stand
On the borders of our land;
Jesus Christ, our Father’s Son,
Bids us undismayed go on,
Bids us undismayed go on.

4. Lord, obediently we'll go,
Gladly leaving all below;
Only Thou our leader be,
And we still will follow Thee,
And we still will follow Thee.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Live today conscious of your identity.

Refuse every thought of defeat or unworthiness.

Speak boldly:

I am a child of God!

Do one act of kindness that reflects your Father’s love, forgive, give, or encourage someone.

DEEP REFLECTION

You are not defined by your past, mistakes, or status, you are defined by your Father.

The moment you realize your true identity in Christ, fear loses grip, and purpose becomes clear.

Walk like who you are:

Heaven’s representative on earth.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I am a beloved child of God.

His Spirit lives in me, His love defines me, and His power sustains me.

I am not forsaken, forgotten, or defeated.

I carry my Father’s DNA, holiness, victory, and peace.

I will live as His ambassador and reflect His glory wherever I go.

Amen.

From today, I live as a light in this world, victorious, bold, and unshaken.

I am heaven’s ambassador on earth, in Jesus’ mighty name.

Amen!
