FLEE EVERY FORM OF EVIL

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

FLEE EVERY FORM OF EVIL

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.” — 1 John 5:17 (KJV)

KEY VERSE

“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” — Hebrews 12:14

BDEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Sin is not only the outward acts people condemn publicly; sin also includes every form of unrighteousness before God. Many believers avoid obvious sins like stealing, adultery, murder, or lying, yet still tolerate hidden unrighteousness such as bitterness, pride, envy, hypocrisy, unforgiveness, secret lust, corruption, hatred, dishonesty, rebellion, and prayerlessness.

The Bible clearly declares in 1 John 5:17 that all unrighteousness is sin. This means anything contrary to God’s holy nature, righteous standard, truth, and will is sin. God does not measure sin the way humans do. Men judge by appearance, but God examines the heart.

Unrighteousness separates man from God. It weakens spiritual power, destroys fellowship with the Holy Spirit, hardens the conscience, and opens doors to spiritual bondage. A person may appear religious outwardly while secretly walking in unrighteousness inwardly. Such a life cannot please God.

Many today justify sin because society normalizes it. Some excuse corruption because “everyone is doing it.” Others defend immorality, unforgiveness, greed, compromise, manipulation, or worldly living. But heaven does not adjust its standards to fit human culture. God remains holy forever.

Jesus came not only to forgive sin but also to deliver humanity from the power of unrighteousness. Through repentance, surrender, and obedience to Christ, believers can walk in righteousness and holiness daily. The grace of God is not a license to continue in sin; rather, it empowers believers to overcome sin.

A righteous life requires daily self-examination, prayer, obedience to Scripture, and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. Every believer must ask:

  • Is my heart pure before God?
  • Are my motives righteous?
  • Am I living in hidden compromise?
  • Is there any secret sin I refuse to surrender?

God still calls His people to holiness. Heaven rejoices over genuine repentance. No unrighteousness should be entertained, excused, protected, or hidden. Today is a call to turn fully to God and walk in truth, purity, humility, and obedience.

LESSONS

  • Hidden sin destroys spiritual strength.
  • God sees inward corruption even when people applaud outward appearance.
  • Secret unrighteousness eventually produces visible destruction.
  • Genuine repentance must begin from the heart.

2. THE STAINED WHITE GARMENT

A man wore a bright white garment to an important ceremony. Though the cloth appeared clean from afar, a dark stain near the chest became visible under bright light. The garment lost its beauty because of one stain.

LESSONS

  • Even tolerated “small sins” stain spiritual purity.
  • God’s light exposes hidden darkness.
  • Believers must seek continual cleansing through Christ.
  • Holiness matters in preparation for eternity.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, God is calling you today to forsake every unrighteous way. Do not excuse hidden sin. Do not defend compromise. Do not harden your heart against conviction. Jesus still saves, cleanses, restores, and transforms. Come to Him sincerely with brokenness and humility.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Examine your life honestly before God:

  • Secret habits
  • Corrupt dealings
  • Bitterness
  • Sexual impurity
  • Pride
  • Unforgiveness
  • Spiritual laziness

  • Worldliness

Lay everything before the cross. True repentance produces change, surrender, and renewed obedience.

I come before You in humility and sincerity. Forgive me for every unrighteousness in my thoughts, words, actions, and secret life. Wash me with the blood of Jesus Christ. Remove every hidden sin and create in me a clean heart. Help me to hate evil and love righteousness. Deliver me from compromise and make me holy before You. HYMN

Take My Life, and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)

1. Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.

2. Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for thee,
swift and beautiful for thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne,
it shall be thy royal throne.

6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee,
ever, only, all for thee.

WHEN GOD SAYS: “DO NOT PRAY FOR THAT SIN”

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 14th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WHEN GOD SAYS: “DO NOT PRAY FOR THAT SIN”

KEY VERSE:

“If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.” — 1 John 5:16

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The statement, “I do not say that he should pray about that,” is one of the most sobering warnings in Scripture. The Apostle John reveals that there comes a point where persistent, hardened, deliberate rebellion against God becomes dangerously destructive. This passage does not teach believers to stop caring for sinners, but it warns against treating sin lightly.

There are sins committed in weakness, ignorance, and human frailty for which mercy, repentance, restoration, and intercession remain available. However, there is also a condition where a person continuously rejects conviction, mocks righteousness, suppresses truth, and stubbornly embraces evil without repentance. Such rebellion hardens the heart and invites divine judgment.

Just as spiritual laws are certain, the consequences of unrepented sin are also certain. God is merciful, but He is also holy and just. The danger is not merely committing sin, but refusing correction, despising grace, and becoming spiritually insensitive.

Examples abound in Scripture:

  • Pharaoh repeatedly hardened his heart until destruction came.
  • Judas Iscariot continually yielded to greed and betrayal until ruin overtook him.
  • Ananias and Sapphira lied against the Holy Spirit and faced immediate judgment.

God calls His people today to genuine repentance, humility, holiness, and obedience. We must never play with sin or assume unlimited opportunities to repent later. Every ignored conviction weakens spiritual sensitivity. Every act of rebellion hardens the conscience.

Yet, while there is breath, there is hope for anyone willing to genuinely repent. Christ still saves, cleanses, restores, and transforms all who come sincerely to Him.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the seriousness of persistent sin.

  2. To develop a heart of genuine repentance.

  3. To fear God with holy reverence.

  4. To avoid spiritual hardness and rebellion.

  5. To walk daily in obedience to God’s Word.

  6. To recognize the danger of grieving the Holy Spirit.

  7. To maintain a sensitive conscience before God.

  8. To encourage believers toward holiness.

  9. To seek mercy before judgment arises.

  10. To live every day prepared for eternity.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A HARDENED HEART

  1. Persistent disobedience — Hebrews 3:15

  2. Rejection of correction — Proverbs 29:1

  3. Pride and self-justification — Luke 18:11-12

  4. Love for darkness rather than light — John 3:19

  5. Resistance to the Holy Spirit — Acts 7:51

  6. Hypocrisy in spiritual matters — Matthew 23:27

  7. Lack of genuine repentance — 2 Corinthians 7:10

  8. Mocking spiritual truth — 2 Peter 3:3-4

  9. Seared conscience — 1 Timothy 4:2

  10. Deliberate continuation in sin — Hebrews 10:26

True repentance is not emotional sorrow alone. It is a complete turning away from sin and surrendering fully to Christ. Genuine repentance produces changed behavior, renewed desires, humility, and obedience to God’s Word.

Heavenly Father,

I confess my sins before You today. Forgive every act of disobedience, pride, rebellion, and secret sin in my life. Wash me with the blood of Jesus Christ. THE DEADLY CONSEQUENCE OF PERSISTENT SIN

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 13th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE DEADLY CONSEQUENCE OF PERSISTENT SIN

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:

"If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life... There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it." - 1 John 5:16

KEY VERSE

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:23

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Apostle John, through divine revelation, speaks of a terrifying spiritual reality; there is a sin leading unto death. This passage is not written to create fear without hope, but to awaken believers to the seriousness of rebellion against God.

Sin destroys gradually when left unchecked. A heart that continually rejects conviction becomes hardened. When people persistently resist the Holy Spirit, mock righteousness, reject repentance, and deliberately continue in wickedness, spiritual death begins to take hold. Spiritual sensitivity dies, conscience becomes numb, and eventually eternal separation from God becomes the final consequence.

The “sin unto death” points to persistent, willful rebellion against God despite repeated warnings, correction, conviction, and opportunities for repentance. It is dangerous to treat sin lightly because every unconfessed sin opens doors to deeper bondage. What begins as compromise can end in destruction if not surrendered to Christ.

God is merciful, loving, and compassionate, but He is also holy and just. His mercy should never become an excuse for careless living. Many people want salvation without surrender, blessings without holiness, and heaven without obedience. Christianity is not merely church attendance; it is a transformed life through Christ.

Believers must guard their hearts daily. Secret sin, pride, bitterness, unforgiveness, immorality, deception, hatred, and rebellion can gradually choke spiritual life. The devil’s goal is always to separate man from God. Satan knows that persistent sin weakens prayer, destroys discernment, hinders fellowship with God, and can ultimately lead to eternal ruin.

However, today’s message is also filled with hope. As long as there is genuine repentance, God is willing to forgive, cleanse, restore, and renew. The blood of Jesus still speaks mercy. No sinner is beyond redemption if there is sincere repentance and turning away from evil.

God is calling His people today to holiness, purity, obedience, and deep repentance. Eternity is too precious to gamble with sin.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the seriousness of sin before God.

  2. To develop genuine hatred for evil.

  3. To encourage believers toward holiness.

  4. To awaken spiritual vigilance and repentance.

  5. To prevent spiritual backsliding.

  6. To strengthen obedience to God’s Word.

  7. To help believers maintain fellowship with God.

  8. To reveal the danger of hardened hearts.

  9. To encourage intercession for struggling believers.

  10. To prepare believers for eternity with Christ.

  4. It weakens prayer life — Psalms 66:18

  5. It invites bondage — John 8:34

  10. It leads to death if unrepented — James 1:15

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. Judas Iscariot: The Danger of Secret Sin

Judas Iscariot walked physically with Jesus but secretly entertained greed and betrayal. Though repeatedly exposed to truth, miracles, and correction, he refused true repentance. His hidden sin eventually led to destruction.

Lessons:

  • Secret sin eventually becomes open destruction.
  • Proximity to spiritual things does not guarantee salvation.
  • A hardened heart can reject repeated warnings.

2. King Saul: Disobedience That Led to Ruin

Saul continually disobeyed God while pretending outward spirituality. Instead of repentance, he justified his rebellion. His persistent disobedience eventually led to divine rejection.

Lessons:

  • Partial obedience is still disobedience.
  • Pride prevents genuine repentance.
  • Persistent rebellion destroys destiny.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Today, God is calling you to return wholeheartedly to Him. Do not ignore conviction. Do not cover sin with excuses. Lay every hidden matter before the Lord. Jesus is ready to forgive and restore anyone who genuinely repents.

DEEP REPENTANCE

  • Am I secretly living in compromise?
  • Have I ignored the Holy Spirit’s warnings?
  • Is there bitterness, immorality, pride, or unforgiveness in my heart?
  • Have I become spiritually cold?

God desires truth in the inward parts. Repentance is not merely feeling sorry; it is turning away completely from sin toward God.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come before You with a broken and contrite heart. Forgive me for every sin, rebellion, compromise, and act of disobedience. Wash me thoroughly by the blood of Jesus Christ. Remove every hardened area of my heart and restore my fellowship with You. Help me to walk in holiness, purity, obedience, and truth. Deliver me from every path that leads to destruction and keep me faithful until the end. Thank You for Your mercy and grace.

THE RESTORING POWER OF INTERCESSION

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 12th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE RESTORING POWER OF INTERCESSION
Image

KEY VERSE

"If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life..." 1 John 5:16

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

One of the greatest demonstrations of divine love is standing in prayer for a fallen brother. God never intended believers to watch one another perish spiritually while remaining silent. The kingdom of God advances through compassion, restoration, mercy, and intercession.

The apostle John the Apostle reveals a powerful spiritual mystery: when a believer sincerely intercedes for another who has fallen into sin, God releases mercy and restoration. This does not encourage compromise with sin, but rather reveals the heart of God toward repentance and recovery.

Sin weakens spiritual strength, destroys fellowship with God, opens doors to affliction, and can gradually harden the heart. However, God’s mercy still reaches out to restore anyone willing to repent. Many believers have been rescued from destruction because someone prayed earnestly for them.

Intercession is spiritual warfare. It is carrying another person before God with tears, faith, and love. True intercessors do not condemn people publicly while neglecting prayer privately. They stand in the gap.

Moses interceded for Israel when judgment was near. Abraham pleaded for Sodom. Jesus Christ prayed for Peter before his failure. These examples show that heaven responds to selfless intercession.

There are many wounded believers today:

  • Some are trapped in secret sin.
  • Some are discouraged and backslidden.
  • Some are spiritually cold.
  • Some are under satanic oppression.
  • Some are overwhelmed by guilt and shame.

God is searching for believers who will pray instead of criticize, restore instead of condemn, and love instead of reject.

When believers pray for one another sincerely:

  • Spiritual life is revived.
  • Bondages are broken.
  • Conviction returns.
  • Mercy triumphs over judgment.
  • Restoration becomes possible.

Intercessory prayer is evidence of spiritual maturity. Anyone can talk about another person’s failure, but only spiritually burdened believers will travail until restoration comes.

Do not ignore a brother or sister sinking in sin. Pray passionately. Counsel wisely. Encourage lovingly. Point them back to Christ. God still gives life to the repentant.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the power of intercessory prayer.

  2. To restore fallen believers through love.

  3. To develop compassion for struggling Christians.

  4. To resist condemnation and promote restoration.

  5. To deepen spiritual responsibility toward others.

  6. To become watchful in prayer for the church.

  7. To understand God’s mercy toward sinners.

  8. To promote repentance and holiness.

  9. To strengthen unity among believers.

  10. To reflect the ministry of Christ through intercession.

BIBLICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF A TRUE INTERCESSOR

  1. Compassion — Galatians 6:1

HYMN

Rescue the Perishing
Author: Fanny Crosby
Composer: William Howard Doane

Message of the Hymn:

This hymn emphasizes compassion, evangelism, restoration, and praying for those who are spiritually weak or wandering from God.

1. Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
tell them of Jesus the mighty to save.

Refrain:

Rescue the perishing,
care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.

2. Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting,
waiting the penitent child to receive;
plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently;
He will forgive if they only believe.

3. Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
cords that are broken will vibrate once more.

4. Rescue the perishing, duty demands it—
strength for your labor the Lord will provide;
back to the narrow way patiently win them,
tell the poor wand'rer a Savior has died.

THE POWER OF INTERCESSORY PRAYER FOR A FALLEN BROTHER

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THE POWER OF INTERCESSORY PRAYER FOR A FALLEN BROTHER

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

"If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death..." - 1 John 5:16 (KJV)

KEY VERSE

"Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness..." - Galatians 6:1

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

One of the greatest demonstrations of divine love is intercession. God is searching for believers who will not ignore the spiritual downfall of others but will stand in prayer for their restoration. The statement, He will ask! is a divine instruction and a heavenly responsibility. God expects His children to ask, pray, intercede, cry, and stand in the gap for others.

Many believers today watch fellow Christians fall into sin, discouragement, addiction, compromise, bitterness, prayerlessness, immorality, and spiritual weakness without lifting a sincere prayer for them. Instead of praying, many criticize, mock, condemn, expose, and abandon wounded souls. But heaven says, He shall ask.

Intercessory prayer is powerful because it invites divine mercy into another person’s life. When Abraham interceded, Lot was remembered. When Moses prayed, Israel was preserved. When Jesus prayed for Peter, his faith did not completely fail. Prayer can rescue a soul from destruction.

The enemy delights in isolated believers. Satan knows that when nobody prays, spiritual collapse becomes easier. But when believers intercede, chains break, conviction returns, strength is renewed, and restoration begins.

The church must return to the ministry of burden-bearing prayer. Every believer should become a spiritual watchman. Instead of celebrating another person’s weakness, we should cry unto God for mercy over their lives.

Sometimes the fallen brother may not even realize how far he has drifted. But the eyes of spiritual men and women must see beyond outward appearances and respond with compassion. God is calling believers into deeper love, deeper mercy, and deeper intercession.

True Christianity is not only about praying for ourselves. It is also about standing before God for others. The question is: Who are you praying for? Heaven is still asking for intercessors.

RESTORING A FALLEN BROTHER THROUGH INTERCESSORY LOVE

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
RESTORING A FALLEN BROTHER THROUGH INTERCESSORY LOVE

ANCHOR SCRIPTURES:

“If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death…” — 1 John 5:16 (KJV)

KEY VERSE

“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness…” — Galatians 6:1

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The heart of God is not only concerned about the salvation of souls but also about the restoration of believers who have fallen into sin. In 1 John 5:16, Apostle John reveals a deep mystery of intercession, that believers have the privilege and responsibility to pray for fellow believers who have stumbled spiritually.

Many people are quick to criticize, expose, condemn, and abandon brethren who fall into temptation. But Christ teaches us another path, the ministry of restoration through love, prayer, mercy, and truth. The Church is not a courtroom of condemnation alone; it is also a spiritual hospital where wounded souls can encounter healing through repentance and grace.

The phrase “sin which does not lead to death” points to sins where the heart is still reachable, repentant, and not completely hardened against God. This does not mean sin is acceptable, but it shows God’s mercy toward those willing to turn back to Him. God desires repentance rather than destruction.

Intercessory prayer becomes a spiritual lifeline. When believers sincerely pray for fallen brethren, heaven releases conviction, mercy, strength, and restoration. Through prayer, chains are broken, spiritual blindness is removed, and hearts are softened again toward God.

However, believers must also be careful not to become comfortable with sin. Persistent rebellion, deliberate hardness of heart, and rejection of truth can gradually destroy spiritual sensitivity. Therefore, this scripture is both a call to intercede for others and a warning to guard our own spiritual lives diligently.

Jesus Himself demonstrated this ministry when He prayed for Peter before his fall:

“But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not…” — Luke 22:32

True Christianity restores, heals, warns, corrects, and uplifts. A mature believer does not rejoice at another person’s downfall but labors in prayer until restoration comes.

May God give us compassionate hearts that seek restoration instead of destruction.

  • Jesus still restores repentant hearts.
  • Prayer preserves believers from total destruction.
