KEY VERSE

“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.” - 1 John 5:2 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Christian life is not defined merely by confession but by consistent obedience. The Apostle John reveals a profound truth: love for God is authenticated by obedience to His commandments. Many claim love for God, yet their lives contradict His Word. True love is not emotional, it is demonstrable through submission.

Keeping God’s commandments is not legalism; it is relationship-driven obedience. When a heart is genuinely transformed, obedience becomes a delight rather than a burden. God’s commandments are not oppressive; they are protective, purposeful, and life-giving.

Obedience aligns us with God’s will, positions us for divine favor, and produces spiritual maturity. It also becomes a testimony to others, our obedience reflects God’s nature to the world. Therefore, obedience is not optional; it is the evidence of divine love at work within us.

Trust and Obey
John H. Sammis (Lyrics), Daniel B. Towner (Composer)

Message: There is no other way to be happy in Jesus than to trust and obey.

1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,

never fear, only trust and obey.

LOVE PROVEN BY OBEDIENCE

KEY VERSE

“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.” - 1 John 5:2 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Love for God is not merely emotional expression or verbal confession, it is validated through obedience.

The Apostle John reveals a divine equation:

Loving God + Keeping His commandments = Genuine love that extends to others.

True love for God flows vertically (toward Him) and manifests horizontally (toward people).

Obedience is not bondage; it is the evidence of relationship. When we truly love God, His commands are no longer burdensome but become a delight (see Psalm 119:97). Many claim love for God, yet resist His instructions. This disconnect reveals that love without obedience is incomplete.

Keeping God's commandments reflects transformation of the heart. It shows alignment with His will, character, and purpose. Love motivates obedience, and obedience deepens love, creating a continuous cycle of spiritual growth.

LOVE PROVEN BY OBEDIENCE AND TRUTH

KEY VERSE

“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.” - 1 John 5:2 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Love in the Kingdom of God is not measured by emotions, words, or outward expressions alone, it is revealed through obedience to God and alignment with His truth. The Apostle John establishes a divine standard: our love for others is authenticated by our love for God, and our love for God is proven through obedience to His commandments.

This means true love is vertical before it becomes horizontal. Many claim to love people, yet disregard God’s instructions. Such love is incomplete and often self-centered. Godly love flows from a heart that reveres God, honors His Word, and walks in His will.

Loving the children of God goes beyond kindness, it includes:

Obedience is not legalism; it is the language of love. When we obey God, we align with His nature, and that alignment produces genuine love for others. You cannot truly love God’s people while rejecting God’s authority.

Therefore, love is not defined by feelings but by faithfulness to God’s truth.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand that love is proven by obedience (1 John 5:2)

  2. To align our love with God’s commandments (John 14:15)

  4. Patient and kind (1 Corinthians 13:4)

  6. Seeks spiritual growth of others (Colossians 1:28)

  7. Forgiving (Ephesians 4:32)

  8. Pure and sincere (1 Timothy 1:5)

  9. Consistent and enduring (Hebrews 13:1)

  10. Reflects Christ’s nature (Romans 5:5)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Loving Parent and Discipline

A loving parent does not allow a child to wander into danger unchecked. Discipline may feel harsh, but it is rooted in protection and long-term good.

Lesson: True love corrects, guides, and aligns with truth, not mere comfort.

2. The Builder and the Foundation

A builder who ignores foundational principles may create something attractive but structurally weak.

Lesson: Love without obedience to God is unstable and eventually collapses.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Examine your love: Is it guided by God’s truth or by personal preference? Repent from superficial love that avoids obedience and embrace the love that honors God fully.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Lord, I confess that I have often defined love by my feelings instead of Your Word. I have compromised truth for acceptance and neglected obedience. Cleanse my heart and realign me with Your standard of love.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Father, in heaven,

I repent for every form of disobedience and false expression of love. Teach me to love You through obedience and to love others through truth. Purify my heart and make me a vessel of genuine love,

LOVE THAT PROVES YOUR NEW BIRTH

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Mar 26th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
LOVE THAT PROVES YOUR NEW BIRTH

KEY VERSE

"Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth Him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of Him." - 1 John 5:1 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

This truth reveals a divine connection between faith, new birth, and love. To believe that Jesus is the Christ is not mere intellectual agreement, it is a spiritual transformation that births you into God’s family. When God becomes your Father, His nature becomes your nature, and love becomes your evidence.

You cannot genuinely claim to love God while rejecting, ignoring, or mistreating those who are born of Him. The love for God is authenticated through your love for His children. This is not selective love based on comfort, tribe, status, or agreement, it is covenant love rooted in divine identity.

Loving fellow believers is not optional; it is proof of spiritual legitimacy. Just as a child naturally reflects the traits of a parent, a born-again believer reflects God’s love. Where love is absent, spiritual birth is questionable. Where love is present, God’s life is evident.

This love goes beyond emotions, it is sacrificial, patient, forgiving, and enduring. It is the love that covers offenses, restores relationships, and seeks unity. True Christianity is not measured by activity, but by the authenticity of love flowing from a transformed heart.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To establish the connection between faith and new birth (1 John 5:1)

  2. To understand love as proof of divine nature (1 John 4:7)

  3. To cultivate genuine love among believers (John 13:35)

  4. To eliminate hatred, bitterness, and division (1 John 3:15)

  5. To reflect God’s character through love (Ephesians 5:1-2)

  6. To promote unity in the body of Christ (Psalm 133:1)

  7. To develop sacrificial love (John 15:13)

  8. To strengthen spiritual relationships (Colossians 3:14)

  9. To walk in obedience through love (2 John 1:6)

  10. To prepare for eternity through love-driven living (Matthew 25:40)

BIBLICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TRUE LOVE

  1. Love is sacrificial (John 3:16)

  2. Love is patient (1 Corinthians 13:4)

  3. Love is kind (Ephesians 4:32)

  4. Love forgives (Colossians 3:13)

  5. Love is not envious (James 3:14)

  6. Love seeks unity (Ephesians 4:3)

  7. Love is sincere (Romans 12:9)

  8. Love endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:7)

  9. Love is obedient to God (1 John 5:3)

  10. Love reflects Christ (John 15:12)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. THE FAMILY BOND

A man claims to love a father but constantly fights, insults, and avoids the father’s children. His claim is false because love for a father naturally extends to his children.

Lesson: You cannot truly love God and hate His people. Love must flow vertically (to God) and horizontally (to others).

2. THE LIVING TREE

A healthy tree produces fruit naturally. It doesn’t struggle to bear fruit, it does so because it is alive.

Lesson: Love is the fruit of spiritual life. If love is missing, the root (new birth) must be examined.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Examine your heart. Are there people you avoid, resent, or secretly despise, especially fellow believers? This contradicts your confession of loving God. God is calling you back to genuine love.

DEEP REPENTANCE

True repentance goes beyond words, it involves:

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Lord,

I confess that I have not loved others as You have commanded. I repent of every bitterness, hatred, and indifference. Cleanse my heart and fill me with Your love. Teach me to love genuinely as Your child.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

  1. 1 John 4:20 – Loving God requires loving others

  2. John 13:34-35 – Love identifies true disciples

  3. Romans 5:5 – God’s love is poured into our hearts

  4. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 – Without love, all is meaningless

  5. Galatians 5:22 – Love is the fruit of the Spirit

  6. Colossians 3:14 – Love binds everything together

  7. Ephesians 4:32 – Love expresses itself through kindness

  8. Matthew 22:39 – Love your neighbor as yourself

  9. 1 Peter 4:8 – Love covers sins

  10. Hebrews 13:1 – Continue in brotherly love

HYMN

Blest Be the Tie That Binds
John Fawcett (1782)

A hymn emphasizing unity and love among believers as one family in Christ.

1. Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above.

2. Before our Father's throne
we pour our ardent prayers;
our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
our comforts and our cares.

3. We share our mutual woes,
our mutual burdens bear,
and often for each other flows
the sympathizing tear.

4. When we are called to part,
it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still be joined in heart,
and hope to meet again.

5. This glorious hope revives
our courage by the way;
while each in expectation lives
and waits to see the day.

6. From sorrow, toil, and pain,
and sin, we shall be free;
and perfect love and friendship reign
through all eternity.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

ETERNITY IN VIEW

CLOSING DECLARATION

I am born of God. His love flows through me. I love God, and I love His children. My life is a reflection of divine love. I walk in unity, forgiveness, and truth.

THE EVIDENCE OF TRUE BIRTH: FAITH IN CHRIST

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Mar 25th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE EVIDENCE OF TRUE BIRTH: FAITH IN CHRIST

KEY VERSE

"Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth Him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of Him." - 1 John 5:1 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The foundation of true Christianity is not merely church attendance, moral behavior, or religious identity, it is spiritual birth. According to 1 John 5:1, the unmistakable evidence of being born of God is believing that Jesus is the Christthe Anointed One, the Savior sent by God.

This belief is not intellectual agreement alone; it is a deep, transformative conviction that affects the heart, mind, and lifestyle. To believe that Jesus is the Christ means:

Spiritual birth (being "born of God") produces a new nature. Just as physical birth introduces a person into a family, spiritual birth introduces a believer into God’s family, carrying His nature, His love, and His righteousness.

This verse also reveals a powerful connection:
Faith in Christ produces love for others.
Anyone truly born of God will not only love God but also love fellow believers.

Therefore, faith is the root, and love is the fruit.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the meaning of being born of God (John 1:12–13)

  2. To establish faith in Jesus as the Christ (John 20:31)

  3. To develop assurance of salvation (1 John 5:13)

  4. To cultivate love for fellow believers (1 John 4:7)

  5. To walk in righteousness (1 John 2:29)

HYMN

Blessed Assurance
Fanny J. Crosby (1873)

A hymn celebrating the confidence and joy of being born again and belonging to Jesus.

1. Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain:

This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.

2. Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
angels descending, bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

3. Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
