THE PROOF OF OUR LOVE: WALKING IN OBEDIENCE
KEY VERSE
“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.” - 1 John 5:2 (KJV)
“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.” - 1 John 5:2 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
The Christian life is not defined merely by confession but by consistent obedience. The Apostle John reveals a profound truth: love for God is authenticated by obedience to His commandments. Many claim love for God, yet their lives contradict His Word. True love is not emotional, it is demonstrable through submission.
Keeping God’s commandments is not legalism; it is relationship-driven obedience. When a heart is genuinely transformed, obedience becomes a delight rather than a burden. God’s commandments are not oppressive; they are protective, purposeful, and life-giving.
Obedience aligns us with God’s will, positions us for divine favor, and produces spiritual maturity. It also becomes a testimony to others, our obedience reflects God’s nature to the world. Therefore, obedience is not optional; it is the evidence of divine love at work within us.

HYMN
Trust and Obey
John H. Sammis (Lyrics), Daniel B. Towner (Composer)
Message: There is no other way to be happy in Jesus than to trust and obey.
1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.
2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
