THE REVELATION OF GOD’S LOVE
(Understanding That God Is Love)

KEY VERSE

“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” — 1 John 4:16 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The statement God is love is one of the deepest revelations in Scripture. The Bible does not merely say that God shows love or acts in love; it declares that love is the very nature and essence of God.

To know God is to encounter love in its purest form. This love is not based on human merit, performance, or perfection. It is unconditional, sacrificial, and eternal.

God demonstrated His love when He created humanity in His image. Even when mankind fell into sin, God did not abandon His creation. Instead, His love designed a redemption plan through Jesus Christ.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8

This love is not sentimental emotion; it is sacrificial commitment. The ultimate expression of God's love was the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for the salvation of humanity.

God’s love accomplishes several things in the life of a believer:

When believers dwell in love, they reflect the character of God. Love becomes the evidence that God lives within them.

Therefore, the Christian life is not merely about religious activities but about living in the reality of God's love and expressing that love to the world.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF GOD'S LOVE

  1. To restore humanity to fellowship with God
    (2 Corinthians 5:18)

  2. To provide salvation through Jesus Christ

  3. To remove fear from the believer's heart
    (1 John 4:18)

  4. To transform believers into Christ’s image

    (Psalm 147:3)

  8. To teach believers how to forgive others
    (Colossians 3:13)

  9. To empower believers to overcome evil with good
    (Romans 12:21)

  10. To prepare believers for eternal life with God
    (John 14:2–3)

HYMN

Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
Charles Wesley (1747)

Theme: The transforming power of God's divine love in the believer’s life.

Message of the Hymn:
The hymn celebrates God’s perfect love that redeems, transforms, and prepares believers for eternal glory.

1. Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of Heav'n to Earth come down,
Fix in us thy humble dwelling,
All thy faithful mercies crown;
Jesus, thou art all compassion,
Pure, unbounded love thou art;
Visit us with thy salvation,
Enter ev'ry trembling heart.

2. Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit
Into ev'ry troubled breast;
Let us all in thee inherit,
Let us find thy promised rest;
Take away our love of sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith as its beginning,
Set our hearts at liberty.

3. Come, Almighty to deliver;
Let us all thy grace receive;
Suddenly return, and never,
Never more thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve thee as thy host above,
Pray, and praise thee without ceasing,
Glory in thy perfect love.

4. Finish, then, thy new creation;
Pure and spotless let us be;
Let us see thy great salvation
Perfectly restored in thee;
Changed from glory into glory
Till in Heav'n we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before thee,
Lost in wonder, love, and praise!

LIVING IN THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S LOVE

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
LIVING IN THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S LOVE

KEY VERSE

"And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." - 1 John 4:16

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Christian life is not merely a religion of rules but a relationship grounded in the love of God. The Apostle John writes with deep conviction: “We have known and believed the love that God has for us.” This statement reveals two spiritual dimensions; knowing and believing.

1. Knowing the Love of God

To know God’s love means to experience it personally. It is not theoretical knowledge but experiential revelation. God demonstrated His love through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Humanity deserved judgment, yet God offered redemption.

Romans 5:8

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Knowing God’s love means understanding that:

2. Believing the Love of God

Many people hear about God’s love but struggle to believe it fully. Faith in God's love removes fear, condemnation, and insecurity.

1 John 4:18

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear."

When believers truly believe in God's love:

3. Dwelling in Love

John teaches that those who live in love live in God. Love becomes the evidence of genuine faith.

God’s love transforms the believer into:

The believer who understands God's love will love God deeply and love people sincerely.

HYMN

The Love of God
Frederick Martin Lehman (1917)

Theme: The immeasurable and eternal love of God.

1. The love of God is greater far
than tongue or pen can ever tell;
it goes beyond the highest star,
and reaches to the lowest hell;
the guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
and pardoned from his sin.

Refrain:

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure:
the saints’ and angels’ song!

2. When years of time shall pass away
and earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
when men who here refuse to pray,
on rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so pure shall still endure,
all measureless and strong;
redeeming grace to Adam's race—
the saints’ and angels’ song.

3. Could we with ink the ocean fill
and were the skies of parchment made,
were ev’ry stalk on earth a quill
and ev’ry man a scribe by trade,
to write the love of God above
would drain the ocean dry;
nor could the scroll contain the whole,
tho' stretched from sky to sky.

HE IN GOD! (The Mystery of Living in God)

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Mar 6th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
HE IN GOD!
(The Mystery of Living in God)

KEY VERSE

Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of GodGod dwelleth in him, and he in God.” — 1 John 4:15

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The statement He in God reveals one of the deepest spiritual realities in the Christian faith: union with God through Christ.

According to 1 John 4:15, when a person sincerely confesses and believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, something supernatural happens. God does not merely bless the person from afar; God comes to dwell in that person, and the believer lives in God.

This is called divine fellowship and spiritual union.

To be “in God” means:

When a person is in God, his life is no longer controlled by the world, sin, fear, or darkness. Instead, his life becomes anchored in God’s truth, power, and love.

Jesus explained this spiritual reality in John 15:4 when He said:

"Abide in me, and I in you."

To abide in God means to remain connected to Him like a branch connected to the vine.

Without this connection:

But when a believer truly lives in God, the following becomes evident:

This union is not merely religion, it is relationship.

Many people know about God, but few truly live in God.

To be in God means:

The believer who lives in God cannot remain the same person. God’s nature begins to shape their life.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF LIVING IN GOD

  1. To experience true fellowship with God
    (1 John 1:3)

  2. To overcome the power of sin
    (Romans 6:14)

  3. To grow into Christ-like character
    (Galatians 4:19)

  4. To walk in divine love
    (1 John 4:16)

  5. To bear spiritual fruit
    (John 15:5)

  6. To live under divine guidance
    (Romans 8:14)

  7. To experience inner peace
    (Isaiah 26:3)

  8. To overcome fear and condemnation
    (Romans 8:1)

  9. To become a witness of God's power
    (Acts 1:8)

  10. To secure eternal life
    (John 17:3)

CHARACTERISTICS OF A PERSON WHO IS IN GOD

  1. They love others sincerely

  8. They live by faith
    (2 Corinthians 5:7)

  10. They hunger for God's word
    (Psalm 119:105)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Fish and the Ocean

A fish survives because it lives inside the ocean. The ocean supplies:

  • oxygen
  • food
  • movement
  • protection

If the fish leaves the ocean, it dies.

In the same way, believers survive spiritually only when they live in God.

Lesson

Life outside God's presence leads to spiritual dryness and destruction, but life in God brings strength and survival.

2. The Branch and the Vine

Jesus said in John 15:5:

"I am the vine, ye are the branches."

A branch cannot produce fruit if it disconnects from the vine.

The life of the vine flows through the branch.

Lesson

A believer produces spiritual fruit only when abiding in God.

Disconnect from God leads to spiritual barrenness.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Many people claim Christianity but do not truly live in God.

Signs include:

  • secret sin
  • spiritual laziness
  • prayerlessness
  • lack of love
  • compromise with the world

God calls us back into deep fellowship with Him.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Repentance means more than saying sorry.

It means:

God is ready to receive anyone who returns sincerely.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Lord Jesus,

I confess that You are the Son of God.
I repent of every sin that has separated me from You.
Forgive my disobedience, pride, and unbelief.
Cleanse my heart with Your precious blood.

Help me to live in You daily.
From today, I surrender my life completely to You.
Let my life reflect Your presence.
Thank You for saving me.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

HYMN

Abide with Me
Henry Francis Lyte (1847)

Meaning:
This hymn expresses the believer’s deep desire for God's presence to remain constantly in their life.

Key Line:

"Abide with me; fast falls the eventide..."

The hymn reminds believers that God’s presence is the believer’s greatest security.

1. Abide with me: fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

2. Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away.
Change and decay in all around I see.
O thou who changest not, abide with me.

3. I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like thyself my guide and strength can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.

4. I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless,
ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.

5. Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes.
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

GOD ABIDES IN HIM!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Mar 5th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
GOD ABIDES IN HIM!

KEY VERSE

Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.” 1 John 4:15

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The greatest assurance any believer can ever have is the certainty that God lives in him. Not beside him, not around him, not occasionally visiting, but dwelling in him permanently. This is the heart of the gospel: that through Jesus Christ, the living God takes residence in the hearts of men.

To confess Jesus as the Son of God is more than syllables, it is a declaration of allegiance, surrender, and faith. Such confession is evidence of a transformed heart. And God responds to that confession by planting His presence within our spirits through the Holy Ghost.

When God abides in a person:

  • His peace rules their heart,
  • His wisdom guides their steps,
  • His power strengthens their inner man,
  • His love flows out through their actions.

This abiding relationship is not mechanical, it is deep, intimate, and continuous. It means carrying God’s presence into decisions, thoughts, relationships, battles, and destiny.

To abide in God is to remain connected, yielded, and responsive.
To have God abide in you is to become a living sanctuary, a carrier of His glory.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the meaning of God abiding in man.

  2. To affirm Jesus as the Son of God boldly and continually.

  3. To cultivate a heart that welcomes God’s presence.

  8. To walk in divine love as proof of God’s indwelling nature.

  9. To manifest God’s light in a dark world.

  10. To remain steadfast in Christ until eternity.

  1. Love-filled — John 13:35

  2. ObedientJohn 14:23

Beloved, God desires to dwell in you richly. But sin creates distance, guilt, and darkness. The Father calls you today: “Return to Me, that I may return to you.” Open your heart, God longs to abide in you.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Ask the Holy Spirit to shine His light upon your heart. Acknowledge wrong motives, hidden faults, pride, anger, unbelief, or distance from God. True repentance purifies the heart and renews fellowship.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Father,

I come before You with humility. Forgive my sins. Wash me with the blood of Jesus. Remove everything that separates me from You. I confess Jesus as the Son of God, my Lord and Saviour. Dwell in me richly and make me Your habitation forever.

Amen.

HYMN

Abide with Me

Henry Francis Lyte (1847)

1. Abide with me: fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

2. Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away.

Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
