LIVING IN THE ASSURANCE OF GOD’S LOVE

KEY VERSE

"And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." - 1 John 4:16

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Christian life is not merely a religion of rules but a relationship grounded in the love of God. The Apostle John writes with deep conviction: “We have known and believed the love that God has for us.” This statement reveals two spiritual dimensions; knowing and believing.

1. Knowing the Love of God

To know God’s love means to experience it personally. It is not theoretical knowledge but experiential revelation. God demonstrated His love through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Humanity deserved judgment, yet God offered redemption.

Romans 5:8

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Knowing God’s love means understanding that:

• You are accepted by God.
• You are redeemed by grace.
• You are valued beyond measure.

2. Believing the Love of God

Many people hear about God’s love but struggle to believe it fully. Faith in God's love removes fear, condemnation, and insecurity.

1 John 4:18

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear."

When believers truly believe in God's love:

• Fear loses power
• Guilt loses control
• Faith becomes strong

3. Dwelling in Love

John teaches that those who live in love live in God. Love becomes the evidence of genuine faith.

God’s love transforms the believer into:

• A vessel of compassion
• A messenger of grace
• A reflection of Christ

The believer who understands God's love will love God deeply and love people sincerely.

Jesus told the story of a son who wasted his inheritance and returned home expecting rejection. Instead, the father embraced him with love.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

4. Returning fully to God

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I acknowledge my sins and shortcomings before You. I thank You for loving me even when I was far from You. Lord, forgive me for every way I have rejected or doubted Your love. Wash me with the precious blood of Jesus. Renew my heart and help me live in Your love. From today, I choose to believe in Your love and walk in obedience.

God’s love is not based on your performance but on His character. Even in your weakness, His love remains constant.
