THEY SPEAK AS OF THE WORLD!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Feb 4th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THEY SPEAK AS OF THE WORLD!

KEY VERSE

“They are of the world: therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them.” - 1 John 4:5

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

In the days of the Apostle John, the early church battled voices that sounded spiritual but were rooted in the world, self-centeredness, pride, greed, sensuality, rebellion, and deception.

John identified a clear difference between those who are of God and those who are not:

Their speech reveals their source.

To “speak as of the world” means to:

  • Adopt the language, values, and priorities of the world system.

  • Speak words that glorify the flesh, not God.

  • Embrace philosophies that contradict the truth of Scripture.

  • Communicate in a way that pulls people away from holiness.

The world’s speech promotes:

But God calls His children to sound different, think different, and speak different.

Our speech must reflect heaven’s culture, not the world’s system.

When your words carry grace, purity, truth, and power, you reveal your identity as a child of God.

In a noisy age of social media, unfiltered opinions, polluted entertainment, and self-exalting motivations, God still expects His people to speak with kingdom authority, spiritual depth, and divine wisdom.

Your mouth should be an altar where God’s truth flows, not a tool for worldly influence.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF THIS TOPIC

  1. To differentiate the speech of the world from the speech of the Spirit (1 John 4:5–6).

  2. To help believers guard their tongues from worldly contamination (James 3:10–12).

  3. To establish kingdom identity through kingdom speech (Colossians 4:6).

  4. To teach alignment between heart purity and spoken words (Matthew 12:34).

  5. To encourage bold confession of truth amidst worldly pressures (Romans 1:16).

  6. To cultivate speech that builds and edifies (Ephesians 4:29).

  7. To call believers to reject worldly philosophies (Colossians 2:8).

  8. To strengthen discernment between divine and worldly voices (1 Timothy 4:1).

  9. To promote a lifestyle where words glorify God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

  10. To inspire transformation of speech through renewed minds (Romans 12:2).

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO “SPEAK AS OF THE WORLD”

  1. Their words glorify self, not GodDaniel 4:30.

  2. They speak according to human wisdom1 Corinthians 2:14.

  3. They promote sin and lawlessnessJude 1:4.

  4. Their speech is boastful and proudPsalm 73:8–9.

  5. Their counsel leads away from GodPsalm 1:1.

  6. They mock spiritual things2 Peter 3:3.

  7. Their words stir strife and conflictProverbs 16:28.

  8. They excuse unrighteousnessIsaiah 5:20.

  9. Their speech is sensual and flesh-drivenGalatians 5:19–21.

  10. They resist truth and sound doctrine2 Timothy 4:3–4.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Mirror That Spoke Back

A king owned a magical mirror that revealed the truth behind a person’s words.

Anyone who lied or spoke worldly deception saw their face distort in the reflection.

One day the king looked into the mirror and saw his face swollen with pride and arrogance.

Shocked, he repented and asked God to purify his speech.

Lesson:

The mouth reveals what the heart hides

God calls us to examine our speech daily and align it with His truth.

2. The Two Seeds

A farmer planted two seeds, one in fertile soil and one in contaminated soil.

The first grew strong and fruitful; the second grew twisted and barren.

The Holy Spirit explained: “The first is speech rooted in the Word; the second is speech polluted by the world.”

Lesson:

Your words grow the seeds of your destiny.

The soil you plant in, God’s truth or the world’s lies, determines your fruit.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Where have worldly words shaped your conversations, attitudes, or online expressions?

God calls you today to return to a place where His Word governs your mouth.

Let the fire of the Spirit purge your speech from carnality, gossip, bitterness, pride, and compromise.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Ask the Lord to:

  • Purify your heart, which overflows through your mouth.

  • Cleanse every polluted influence you have absorbed.

  • Deliver you from the fear of man that shapes your speech to please the world.

  • Break the power of every word you have spoken that contradicts His will.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come before You acknowledging that my words have not always represented Your truth.

Cleanse my heart and sanctify my tongue.

Remove worldly influences from my speech and fill me with the Holy Spirit.

Let my words glorify You, build others, and reflect heaven.

I repent deeply and turn away from every ungodly speech pattern.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

HYMN

Take My Life and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)

1. Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.

2. Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for thee,
swift and beautiful for thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne,
it shall be thy royal throne.

6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee,
ever, only, all for thee.

THEY ARE OF THE WORLD!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Feb 3rd, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THEY ARE OF THE WORLD!

(A Words of Truth Devotional Package)

KEY VERSE

“They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world hears them.” — 1 John 4:5

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

In this verse, the Apostle John draws a sharp line between those who belong to God and those who belong to the world system.

The “world” here refers not to the physical earth, but to its fallen systems, values, pleasures, and beliefs that stand in opposition to God.

Those who are “of the world” think, speak, decide, and act according to human wisdom, fleshly desires, and earthly approval.

Their voice is loud because it resonates with worldly minds.

But God calls His children to a higher standard; to be in the world but not of the world.

Your identity in Christ demands a lifestyle that reflects Heaven’s values, not the world’s trends.

To live set apart is not isolation; it is consecration.

It is walking in truth, holiness, compassion, and obedience, even when the world celebrates compromise.

This devotional urges you to examine your alignment; your values, desires, speech, relationships, ambitions, and reactions.

Do they echo Heaven or mirror the world?

Every believer must daily choose who shapes their life:

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the difference between worldly influence and godly influence.

  2. To build discernment between the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of error.

  3. To cultivate a lifestyle that pleases God above culture or peers.

  4. To strengthen spiritual identity as citizens of Heaven (Phil. 3:20).

  5. To reject worldly philosophies contrary to Scripture.

  6. To renew the mind through the Word (Rom. 12:2).

  7. To imitate Christ in speech, conduct, and character.

  8. To develop spiritual courage to stand for righteousness.

  9. To grow in holiness and separation unto God.

  10. To shine as light in a world of darkness.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO ARE OF THE WORLD

  1. Love the lust of the flesh, eyes, and pride of life1 John 2:16

  2. Value human approval more than God’s approvalJohn 12:43

  3. Their speech reflects worldly wisdom1 Cor. 2:14

  4. Do not receive the things of the Spirit — 1 Cor. 2:14

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Two Lamps in the Room

A room contained two lamps; one powered by electricity, the other by a battery.

The electric lamp shined brightly, while the battery lamp flickered weakly.

People entering the room naturally gravitated toward the brighter lamp.

Lesson:

The world often shines with temporary brilliance; fame, trends, money, and pleasure; but it is only battery-powered, destined to fade.

The light of Christ shines with eternal power.

Follow the light that lasts.

2. The Imitation Gold Chain

A young man bought what he thought was real gold because it looked shiny.

Weeks later it rusted and turned green.

He realized he had been deceived by appearance.

Lesson:

The world offers imitation glory that rusts.

God offers genuine life that never fades.

Judge by truth, not by appearance.

A CALL TO REPENTANCE

Are there habits, desires, relationships, or secret attitudes aligned with the world instead of the Word?

God calls you back to the purity of Christ.

Do not let the world shape you; let the Spirit transform you.

Let repentance reach your heart, not just your lips.

Lay down every worldly attachment.

Reject every compromise.

Ask God to purify your motives and restore your hunger for holiness.

I come before You, acknowledging that I have sometimes followed worldly desires and influences.

HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Feb 2nd, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD!

(Understanding the Superiority of Christ Over Every Opposing Force)

KEY VERSE

“Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” - 1 John 4:4

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The world is full of voices, pressures, battles, temptations, and unseen spiritual currents that pull people away from God’s purpose.

Scripture acknowledges the existence of “he that is in the world”, the systems, influences, and spiritual adversary who opposes righteousness.

Yet God does not leave His children vulnerable or powerless.

John reminds believers that the One who lives inside us, Christ by His Spirit, is infinitely greater than any force in the world.

This truth is not just comforting, it is empowering.

It means:

  • You are never outnumbered.

  • You are never helpless.

  • You are never at the mercy of darkness.

  • You carry divine authority because the Greater One lives within you.

To understand this truth is to walk in victory, stability, peace, and spiritual boldness.

The world may challenge you, but it cannot conquer you.

Satan may threaten you, but he cannot overpower God’s presence in you.

Trials may arise, but they cannot consume the one who walks in divine backing.

This devotional calls you to awaken your consciousness of God’s indwelling power and reject fear, intimidation, guilt, and spiritual defeat.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To awaken believers to the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.

  2. To strengthen confidence in God when facing spiritual or life battles.

  3. To contrast the influence of the world with the superiority of Christ.

  4. To establish spiritual authority in the life of the believer.

  5. To cultivate unwavering faith in God’s protection and guidance.

  6. To expose the deceptive operations of “he that is in the world.”

  7. To encourage spiritual alertness and victorious living.

  8. To deepen intimacy with God as the ultimate source of strength.

  9. To inspire boldness in resisting evil influences and temptations.

  10. To anchor believers in the certainty of Christ’s victory on the cross.

  8. Manipulator of human desires1 John 2:16

  9. Opposer of God’s plans2 Thessalonians 2:4

  10. Ruler of darknessEphesians 6:12

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Light in the Dark Tunnel

A young boy walking through a dark tunnel with a small lantern noticed shadows around him.

Fear gripped his heart until he looked at the lantern and realized the darkness could not swallow its light.

With each step, the shadows backed away.

Lesson:

The believer’s light, Christ in you, always prevails over the darkness in the world.

Darkness cannot overpower a child of God who carries the Greater One.

2. The Lion and the Lamb Within

A farmer raised a lion cub that wandered into a flock of sheep.

As it grew, the lambs feared it.

One day, a wild predator attacked, and the grown lion roared, scattering the enemy instantly.

Lesson:

The world fears the believer who realizes the “Lion of Judah” lives within.

When you activate this inner power, spiritual enemies flee.

A CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, the enemy gains ground where sin opens the door.

To walk in the fullness of God’s indwelling power, your life must be aligned with Christ.

Wherever the world has influenced your thoughts, habits, or desires, return to God today.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Let your heart cry out:

Lord, search me.

Break every agreement I have knowingly or unknowingly made with the world’s system

Cleanse my thoughts, motives, and desires.

Restore the fire of Your presence within me.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

I come before You acknowledging my shortcomings.

I repent of every sin, compromise, distraction, and worldliness.

HYMN

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

Martin Luther (1529)

Lesson: A timeless hymn that emphasizes God’s unmatched power over the enemy and the world’s forces.

1. A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he, amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
does seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

2. Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right Man on our side,
the Man of God's own choosing.
You ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth his name,
from age to age the same;
and he must win the battle.

3. And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God has willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

4. That Word above all earthly powers
no thanks to them abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours
through him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill:
God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Identify one area where the world’s influence has been strong, fear, temptation, pride, distraction, and declare God’s Word over it throughout today.

You are not weak.

The light of God in you will shine brighter.

Every battle confronting you will bow to the authority of Christ within you.

You will walk in unshakeable victory from today forward.

GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU!

KEY VERSE

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”1 John 4:4

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

To every believer, God has placed within you His Spirit, the very life and power that raised Jesus from the dead.

Many times, the world tries to intimidate, suppress, weaken, or overwhelm you, but the truth of God stands immovable:

The One who resides in you is far greater than anything that stands before you.

This greatness is not based on your size, strength, background, or connections; it is anchored on the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

The forces of darkness may roar, challenges may rise, systems may oppose, but nothing is superior to the One who lives within you.

You are not ordinary, God Himself is your advantage, your strength, your ability, your defender, and your victory:

  • When you walk into any situation, God walks in with you.
  • When you face trials, He stands as your shield.
  • When the enemy whispers defeat, He declares victory.

Therefore, rise today with a new consciousness:

  • You cannot be defeated.
  • You cannot be swallowed.
  • You cannot be destroyed.
You are marked for triumph because the God who lives in you is unstoppable and unlimited.

1. The Lamp That Changed the Room

A man walked into a dark room, fearful and unable to move.

He stumbled until he found a small lamp.

As he switched it on, the darkness fled instantly.

Lesson:

Darkness is not the opposite of light; it is the absence of light.

Likewise, the enemy is not equal to God.

The moment the Greater One in you is activated through faith, prayer, and the Word, darkness cannot resist.

2. The Seed That Defied the Rock

A tiny seed fell into a crack on a massive rock.

Over time, it sprouted, broke the stone, and grew into a strong plant.

HYMN

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

Martin Luther (1529)

Lesson: A timeless reminder that God is our defense and undefeatable strength.

1. A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he, amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
does seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

2. Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right Man on our side,
the Man of God's own choosing.
You ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabaoth his name,
from age to age the same;
and he must win the battle.

3. And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God has willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The prince of darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo! his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

4. That Word above all earthly powers
no thanks to them abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours
through him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill:
God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever!
