IF WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
IF WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER!

KEY VERSE

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” — 1 John 4:11 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Love is the heartbeat of the Christian life.
God did not ask us to love others without first showing us what love truly looks like.
His love was demonstrated through Jesus Christ, pure, sacrificial, unconditional, steady, and everlasting.
When the Bible says, If we love one another,” it is not presenting a suggestion.
It is revealing the evidence of true fellowship with God.

Loving one another means:

God’s love flows from Him to us, and from us to others.
When we love one another, we reflect God’s character and become living witnesses of His grace.

Love is not a feeling; it is a responsibility.
It is shown in how we speak, act, think, and respond.
If there is no love, there is no light. Where love rules, God reigns.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF LOVING ONE ANOTHER

  1. To obey the command of Christ (John 13:34).

  2. To reflect God’s nature (1 John 4:7–8).

  3. To promote unity in the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:3).

  4. To heal relationships and restore peace (Colossians 3:14–15).

  5. To strengthen fellowship (Acts 2:42–47).

  6. To overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).

  7. To draw others to Christ through our conduct (Matthew 5:16).

  8. To fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2).

  9. To build each other up spiritually (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

  10. To demonstrate true discipleship (John 13:35).

CHARACTERISTICS OF TRUE CHRISTIAN LOVE

  1. Patient — (1 Corinthians 13:4)

  2. Kind — (1 Corinthians 13:4)

  3. Forgiving — (Ephesians 4:32)

  4. Selfless — (Philippians 2:3–4)

  5. Truthful — (Ephesians 4:25)

  6. Humble — (1 Peter 5:5)

  7. Compassionate — (Colossians 3:12)

  8. Steadfast — (Hebrews 10:24)

  9. Peace-loving — (Romans 14:19)

  10. Merciful — (Luke 6:36)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Light That Returned

A boy once placed a lantern on a hill near his village every night so travelers could find their way safely.
One night, a strong wind almost blew it out, but he shielded it with his hands until the storm passed.
The next day, a traveler said the light saved his life.

Lesson:

When we love one another, like that lantern, we guide others back to safety, peace, and God, no matter the storm.

2. The Forgiving Sister

Two sisters had a disagreement that lasted months.
One finally decided to forgive and called the other.
The moment forgiveness was offered, both cried and peace returned to their home.

Lesson:

Loving one another restores broken walls and brings healing where pain once lived.
Forgiveness is love in action.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Where there is hatred, bitterness, selfishness, or division, God calls us to return to Him.
Love cannot grow in a heart filled with resentment.
Today, God invites you to lay down every burden of offense so His love may flow freely in you.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Ask the Holy Spirit to shine His light on areas where you have failed to love, through your words, attitudes, or silence.
Deep repentance brings deep healing.
Let Christ wash your heart.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come to You with a humble heart.
Forgive me for every way I have failed to show Your love.
Wash me clean from bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, and pride
Fill me with Your love and help me to love others as You have loved me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN

Blest Be the Tie That Binds
John Fawcett (1782)

1. Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above.

2. Before our Father's throne
we pour our ardent prayers;
our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
our comforts and our cares.

3. We share our mutual woes,
our mutual burdens bear,
and often for each other flows
the sympathizing tear.

4. When we are called to part,
it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still be joined in heart,
and hope to meet again.

5. This glorious hope revives
our courage by the way;
while each in expectation lives
and waits to see the day.

6. From sorrow, toil, and pain,
and sin, we shall be free;
and perfect love and friendship reign
through all eternity.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Show love to at least one person today in a tangible way, an encouraging message, an apology, a kind act, or forgiveness.

DEEP REFLECTION

Is there someone you find difficult to love?
Ask God to give you His heart toward them.
Love is strongest when it overcomes resistance.

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

When you love others, God fights for you.
Love is never weakness, it is divine strength.
Keep loving, even in silence, even in difficulty.

ETERNITY IN VIEW

Heaven is a kingdom of perfect love.
Walking in love is preparation for eternity.
Only those who love will enjoy the fullness of God’s presence forever.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I choose to walk in love.
I surrender bitterness.
I embrace peace.
The love of God flows through me.
I am a vessel of His light.
I will love others as Christ has loved me.

Amen.

Where there was bitterness, joy will spring forth.
Where there was pain, healing will flow.
You will love boldly, freely, and joyfully.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
