THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Jan 12th, 2026
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE DO THOSE THINGS THAT ARE PLEASING IN HIS SIGHT!
KEY VERSE
“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” — 1 John 3:22 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
To live a life that pleases God is not an occasional spiritual activity; it is a continuous posture of the heart.
Scripture reveals that God is not merely interested in our words, titles, offerings, or public spirituality, but in obedient hearts aligned with His will.
Doing what is pleasing in His sight means living consciously before God, aware that He sees not only our actions but our motives (1 Samuel 16:7).
Many believers desire answered prayers, divine favour, and spiritual authority, yet neglect the condition attached to them, a life that pleases God.
Jesus Christ is the perfect model.
He declared,
“I do always those things that please Him” (John 8:29).
His obedience was not selective; it was total, joyful, and sacrificial.
Pleasing God involves:
A pleasing life is not sinless perfection but repentant obedience, a heart quick to return to God, sensitive to His Word, and yielded to His Spirit.
Such lives attract divine backing, spiritual authority, and heavenly approval.
BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF A LIFE THAT PLEASES GOD
To glorify God in all things (1 Corinthians 10:31)
To walk in obedience to His Word (Deuteronomy 28:1)
To maintain fellowship with the Father (John 14:23)
To produce lasting spiritual fruit (John 15:16)
To attract divine approval and testimony (Hebrews 11:5)
To walk in answered prayers (1 John 3:22)
To live a life separated unto holiness (1 Peter 1:15–16)
To be guided continually by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14)
To prepare for eternal reward (2 Corinthians 5:10)
To become a vessel fit for the Master’s use (2 Timothy 2:21)
CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO PLEASE GOD
ILLUSTRATIONS
1. Enoch; Walking into Eternity
Text: Genesis 5:22–24
Enoch pleased God not by miracles recorded, but by walking with God.
His life was so aligned with heaven that he was translated without seeing death.
Lesson:
A consistent daily walk with God is more pleasing than occasional spiritual displays.
2. Jesus in Gethsemane; Obedience over Comfort
Text: Luke 22:42
Jesus prayed,
“Not my will, but Thine, be done.”
Though the cross was painful, obedience was chosen over self-preservation.
Lesson:
God is pleased when our surrender is complete, even when it costs us greatly.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Beloved, it is possible to be active in church yet absent from God’s pleasure.
Many have substituted religious performance for obedient living.
Today, God calls us back, not to appearances, but to alignment.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Repent of pleasing men over God
Repent of hidden sins tolerated in secret
Repent of hardened conscience and delayed obedience
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Father,
I acknowledge that I have not always done what is pleasing in Your sight.
I have walked in my will, excused my disobedience, and ignored Your promptings.
Have mercy on me, O Lord.
Cleanse me by the blood of Jesus.
Restore unto me a heart that delights in Your will.
I turn away from every sin and return fully to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN
Trust and ObeyJohn H. Sammis (1887)
1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.
2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Examine every decision today, words, actions, attitudes, and ask:
“Is this pleasing in His sight?”
Choose obedience where compromise seems easier.
DEEP REFLECTION
If God reviewed your yesterday, would He testify as He did of Jesus,
“This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased”?
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
God is not looking for perfection, but for a yielded heart.
Every step of obedience delights Him.
Your repentance today repositions you for divine pleasure and approval.
ETERNITY IN VIEW
One day, we will stand before Christ, not to explain our intentions, but our obedience.
May you hear:
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21)
CLOSING DECLARATION
