𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
BY THIS WE KNOW THAT HE ABIDES IN US!

KEY VERSE

“And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.”1 John 3:24b (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The assurance of God’s abiding presence is not a feeling that fluctuates with circumstances; it is a spiritual certainty grounded in truth.

Scripture teaches that we know God abides in us by the evidence of His Spirit at work within us.

This abiding is covenantal, God dwelling in us as His temple, and transformational, His life shaping our desires, obedience, and love.

To abide means to remain, dwell, continue, and be at home.

When God abides in us, His Spirit bears witness with our spirit, producing Christlike character, sustaining obedience, empowering love, and granting inward assurance.

This truth liberates believers from doubt-driven faith and invites them into confident, fruitful fellowship with God.

1. The Living Branch

A branch does not strive to bear fruit; it simply remains connected to the vine.

Once disconnected, it withers.

Lesson:

Fruitfulness flows naturally from abiding.

Our proof of God’s presence is not noise but life.

2. The Sealed Letter

Text: Ephesians 1:13

A CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, where have distractions replaced devotion?

Where has disobedience dulled sensitivity to the Spirit?

The abiding presence of God is hindered when sin is tolerated and fellowship is neglected.

Return to Him with a sincere heart.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Lord, we acknowledge every way we have quenched Your Spirit, through pride, prayerlessness, unforgiveness, and compromise.

We renounce self-rule and return to wholehearted surrender.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Merciful Father,

I confess that I have not always walked in obedience and sensitivity to Your Spirit.

Cleanse me by the blood of Jesus.

Restore my fellowship with You.

Let Your Spirit reign fully in me again.

I turn from every known sin and yield my life afresh to You,

In Jesus’ name.

Amen.

HYMN

Abide with Me
Henry Francis Lyte (1847)

  • Theme: God’s continual presence and sustaining grace

1. Abide with me: fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

2. Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away.
Change and decay in all around I see.
O thou who changest not, abide with me.

3. I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like thyself my guide and strength can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.

4. I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless,
ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.

5. Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes.
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
