WHOEVER DOES NOT PRACTICE RIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT OF GOD!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Dec 5th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WHOEVER DOES NOT PRACTICE RIGHTEOUSNESS IS NOT OF GOD!

KEY VERSE

“Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.”1 John 3:10 (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Righteousness is not merely a belief; it is a lifestyle, a fruit, and a proof of the life of God within a person.

In Scripture, righteousness means aligning one’s life with God’s standard of purity, justice, holiness, and truth.

John the Apostle draws a bold dividing line:

A person’s practice reveals their spiritual identity.

This devotion is not meant to condemn but to call us into alignment with the life of God.

Righteousness is not perfection; it is consistent obedience and progressive holiness through the power of Christ.

The evidence of salvation is not merely confession, attendance, or knowledge; but practice.

If righteousness is absent, then intimacy with God is absent.

If righteousness is present, then the life of God is active within you.

This message calls us not just to admire righteousness but to practice it, pursue it, and walk in it daily.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

  1. To understand righteousness as God’s standard of living. (Psalm 119:172)
  2. To expose the danger of lawlessness and sin. (1 John 3:4)
  3. To cultivate a lifestyle that reflects Christ. (1 Peter 2:21)
  4. To walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. (Galatians 5:16)
  5. To strengthen personal holiness. (Hebrews 12:14)
  6. To pursue obedience to God’s Word. (John 14:15)
  7. To bear fruits that reveal spiritual identity. (Matthew 7:17–20)
  8. To develop genuine love for others. (1 Corinthians 13:1–8)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Two Gardens

Two men were given the same garden.

One cultivated it daily; cleared weeds, watered, fertilized, and protected it.

The other ignored his garden, letting weeds grow unchecked.

After months, one garden flourished with fruit; the other was overtaken by thorns.

Lesson:

Righteousness must be practiced, like gardening.

Neglect produces spiritual weeds; diligence produces holiness.

2. The Mirror and the Mask

A man put on a beautiful mask for years, impressing people with an image of perfection.

But one day, a mirror of genuine truth was placed before him; and he saw that behind the mask lay a life consumed by deceit.

Lesson:

Religion can be a mask, but righteousness is a mirror.

God looks beyond appearances.

What you practice reveals who you truly are.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, examine your life today.

Are you practicing righteousness… or practicing sin?

Are you walking with God… or walking with the world?

The Holy Spirit calls you today:

Say from your heart:

Lord, strip away every falsehood in me.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

HYMN

Take My Life, and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)

1. Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.

2. Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for Thee,
swift and beautiful for Thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from Thee,
filled with messages from Thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as Thou shalt choose,
every power as Thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it Thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is Thine own;
it shall be Thy royal throne,
it shall be Thy royal throne.

6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for Thee,
ever, only, all for Thee.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Identify one unrighteous habit that must end today; and take a bold, practical step to stop it.

Then choose one righteous practice to start today;

prayerforgiveness… purity… generosity… obedience.

DEEP REFLECTION

Righteousness is the heartbeat of God.

When you practice righteousness, heaven recognizes you.

  • Your identity is revealed,
  • Your destiny aligns, and
  • Your eternity shines brighter.

Ask yourself today:
