HE WHO DOES NOT LOVE HIS BROTHER!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Dec 6th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
HE WHO DOES NOT LOVE HIS BROTHER!

(1 John 4:20)

KEY VERSE

“If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?”1 John 4:20

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Love is the heartbeat of true Christianity.

The measure of your love for God is reflected in how you treat your brother; your family, fellow believers, neighbors, colleagues, and every human created in God's image.

God does not allow a separation between love for Him and love for people.

The two are woven together like strands of one cord.

Anyone who claims to know God but harbors hatred, bitterness, unforgiveness, or malice toward another is living in contradiction to the nature of God.

Why?

Because God is Love (1 John 4:8).

  • To know Him is to reflect Him.
  • To walk with Him is to love like Him.
  • To abide in Him is to forgive as He forgives.

Hatred blinds, divides, destroys relationships, and brings spiritual darkness.

Love heals, restores, unites, and brings light.

If God could love us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8), we have no excuse to withhold love from those who wronged us.

This message is not about feelings; love is a decision, a commandment, and a proof of belonging to Christ.

The world identifies real Christians not by miracles, achievements, or power, but by love (John 13:35).

If you do not love your brother, you hinder your own prayers, close your own spiritual heavens, and step out of alignment with God’s nature.

Today, the Holy Spirit calls us back to the foundation:

Love one another.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF THIS TEACHING

  1. To reveal God’s standard for love within His family.
  2. To expose the dangers of hatred and bitterness.
  3. To restore broken relationships through God’s grace.
  4. To strengthen the believer’s spiritual walk through love.
  5. To cultivate Christlike compassion and forgiveness.
  6. To align believers with the nature of God—who is Love.
  7. To promote unity in the body of Christ.
  8. To break the stronghold of malice, envy, and resentment.
  9. To prepare believers for eternity where only love abides.
  10. To manifest the light of Christ in a dark world through love.

CHARACTERISTICS OF TRUE CHRISTIAN LOVE

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Two Lamps

Two lamps were placed in a room.

One filled with oil (love),
The other empty (hatred).

When darkness came, the lamp filled with oil shined brightly.

The empty lamp remained dark.

Lesson:

Love fills a believer with God’s light.

Hatred leaves the soul in darkness.

You cannot shine without love.

2. The Broken Bridge

A man destroyed the bridge between him and his brother due to offense.

Later, he needed to cross it to escape danger; but the bridge was gone.

Lesson:

Unforgiveness destroys the very bridges we will need someday.

Love builds what hatred destroys.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, have you allowed offense, bitterness, or hatred to take root?

Have you avoided someone because of past pain?

Have you allowed pride to prevent reconciliation?

God is calling you to repent; because loving your brother is not optional; it is a divine command.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Say:

Lord, uproot every seed of hatred, bitterness, envy, and malice from my heart.

Break every wall I have built.

Heal every wound and make me whole again.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come before You acknowledging my failures in love.

Forgive me for harboring resentment, anger, or hatred toward anyone.

Cleanse my heart, purify my motives, and fill me with Your love.

Teach me to forgive, to reconcile, to bless, and to love as You have commanded.

Let Your love flow through me like rivers of living water.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN

Blest Be the Tie That Binds
John Fawcett (1782)

1. Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above.

2. Before our Father's throne
we pour our ardent prayers;
our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
our comforts and our cares.

3. We share our mutual woes,
our mutual burdens bear,
and often for each other flows
the sympathizing tear.

4. When we are called to part,
it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still be joined in heart,
and hope to meet again.

5. This glorious hope revives
our courage by the way;
while each in expectation lives
and waits to see the day.

6. From sorrow, toil, and pain,
and sin, we shall be free;
and perfect love and friendship reign
through all eternity.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Reach out to someone you have avoided, ignored, or resented.

Send a message, make a call, or pray intentionally for them.

Love begins with a step.

DEEP REFLECTION

Hatred disconnects you from God’s flow of grace.

Love aligns you with heaven.

Eternity will be filled with perfect love; so we must practice it now.

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

You can love because God first loved you.

The Holy Spirit will strengthen you.

You are not alone; His grace is sufficient.

ETERNITY IN VIEW

In heaven, there is no hatred, anger, or offense.

Only love abides.

Let your life on earth reflect the atmosphere of heaven.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I am a child of God.

The love of the Father dwells richly in me.

I refuse hatred, bitterness, or resentment.

I walk in love, I speak in love, and I live in love.

The nature of Christ flows through me.

I am a light in a dark world.

I am free.

I am whole.

I am healed.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION

I decree and declare:

The love of God saturates your heart.

Every root of bitterness is destroyed.

You will love freely, forgive easily, and walk in peace.

Wherever hatred once ruled, love now reigns.

Your life will shine with the nature of Christ.

You will be known by love, walk by love, and operate in love.

From today, may the fragrance of divine love flow through you; changing atmospheres and healing hearts.

You are a vessel of love, in Jesus’ mighty name.

Amen!
