FOR THIS IS THE MESSAGE THAT YOU HEARD FROM THE BEGINNING!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Dec 7th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
FOR THIS IS THE MESSAGE THAT YOU HEARD FROM THE BEGINNING!

(1 John 3:11)

KEY VERSE

“For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.”1 John 3:11 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

From the beginning; before the Law, before the Prophets, before the Church;

God’s message has always been LOVE.

Love is not a new doctrine; it is the eternal heartbeat of God.

  • Every divine instruction flows from love;
  • Every command is anchored in love; and
  • Every spiritual fruit is powered by love.

The Apostle John reminds believers that the foundation of the Christian faith is not eloquence, titles, miracles, or religious masterybut the love that reflects the heart of the Father.

Love from the beginning means:

When the message is heard, believed, and lived, it transforms communities, heals hearts, mends families, restores brokenness, and reflects the character of Christ to a broken world.

Love from the beginning is not passive or emotional; it is sacrificial, active, truth-filled, and Spirit-empowered.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF MESSAGE FROM THE BEGINNING

  1. To reveal God’s eternal nature as love (1 John 4:8).

  2. To establish love as the foundation of true Christian living (John 13:35).

  3. To destroy hatred and envy among believers (1 John 3:12).

  4. To imitate Christ’s sacrificial love (John 15:12–13).

  5. To promote unity in the Body of Christ (Colossians 3:14).

  6. To manifest the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22).

  7. To mature believers in spiritual understanding (1 Corinthians 13:11–13).

  8. To align believers with God's will and commands (John 14:21).

  9. To strengthen Christian witness to the world (John 13:35).

  10. To prepare believers for eternity with God (1 John 4:16–17).

CHARACTERISTICS OF GODLY LOVE

  1. Patient (1 Corinthians 13:4)

  2. Kind (1 Corinthians 13:4)

  3. Selfless (Philippians 2:3–4)

  4. Forgiving (Ephesians 4:32)

  5. Truthful (1 Corinthians 13:6)

  6. Enduring (1 Corinthians 13:7)

  7. Compassionate (Colossians 3:12)

  8. Sacrificial (John 3:16)

  9. Unconditional (Romans 5:8)

  10. Holy (1 Peter 1:22)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Two Gardens

A man planted two gardens.

One he watered daily with love, care, and diligence.

The other he ignored, assuming nature would do all the work.

The first garden flourished beautifully; the second was overtaken by thorns.

When asked why, the man said,

Whatever is not nurtured in love will be claimed by weeds.

Lesson:

Relationships, faith, marriages, and ministries flourish only when nurtured with love; the message from the beginning.

2. The Bridge Builder

Two brothers lived on opposite sides of a river after a bitter conflict.

Years went by without speaking.

One day, a carpenter knocked and asked for work.

He was asked to build a wall to divide them further; instead, he built a bridge.

When the brothers saw the bridge, tears flowed, and reconciliation was born.

Lesson:

Love builds bridges where hatred builds walls.

The message from the beginning is a message of reconciliation.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you allowed hatred, bitterness, pride, unforgiveness, or envy to corrupt the message of love in your heart?

Return today.

The God who loved you from the beginning calls you back to the original command; LOVE.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Say to God:

Lord, uproot every seed of hatred, unforgiveness, and pride in my heart.

Restore the purity of Your love in me.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I confess that I have not always walked in love as You commanded from the beginning.

Forgive my bitterness, pride, and selfishness.

Cleanse my heart and renew my spirit.

Fill me with Your divine love that I may love others as You have loved me.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

HYMN

The Love of God
Frederick M. Lehman (1917)

1. The love of God is greater far
than tongue or pen can ever tell;
it goes beyond the highest star,
and reaches to the lowest hell;
the guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
and pardoned from his sin.

Chorus:

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure:
the saints’ and angels’ song!

2. When years of time shall pass away
and earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
when men who here refuse to pray,
on rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so pure shall still endure,
all measureless and strong;
redeeming grace to Adam's race
the saints’ and angels’ song.

3. Could we with ink the ocean fill
and were the skies of parchment made,
were ev’ry stalk on earth a quill
and ev’ry man a scribe by trade,
to write the love of God above
would drain the ocean dry;
nor could the scroll contain the whole,
tho' stretched from sky to sky.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Show love intentionally today.

Walk out the message that was given “from the beginning.”

DEEP REFLECTION

Love is not optional; it is foundational.

Where love is absent, Christ is absent.

Where love flows, Christ is revealed.

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

You are capable of loving because God first loved you.

He lives in you.

His Spirit empowers you.

You can walk in the message of love every single day.

In heaven there is no hatred.

Only love lives forever.

Every act of love is a deposit into eternity.

Amen!
