𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE SHOULD LOVE ONE ANOTHER!
KEY VERSE
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” — 1 John 4:11 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Love is the foundation of the Christian faith.
Every commandment of God finds its root in love; love for God and love for people.
Jesus emphasized that the world will recognize us as His disciples not by miracles, eloquent words, or spiritual gifts, but by our love for one another (John 13:34–35).
Loving one another is not a suggestion; it is a command.
It is the visible expression of the invisible Christ working in us.
We do not love because people deserve it; we love because God first loved us (1 John 4:19).
Biblical love requires sacrifice, forgiveness, patience, humility, and a willingness to put others before ourselves.
When we love one another:
- We resemble our Father.
- We strengthen the body of Christ.
- We break the power of division.
- We shine the light of Christ to the world.
Love is the mark of true spiritual maturity and authentic Christianity.
BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF LOVING ONE ANOTHER
- To reflect God’s nature (1 John 4:8).
- To fulfil Christ’s command (John 13:34).
- To maintain unity in the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:3).
- To demonstrate spiritual maturity (Colossians 3:14).
- To win unbelievers to Christ (John 13:35).
- To overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21).
- To encourage and strengthen fellow believers (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
- To experience answered prayers (1 Peter 3:7–12).
- To walk in the fullness of God’s blessing (Psalm 133:1–3).
- To abide in God and God in us (1 John 4:12).
CHARACTERISTICS OF TRUE CHRISTIAN LOVE
- Patient – Endures without irritation (1 Corinthians 13:4).
- Kind – Acts with compassion and gentleness (1 Corinthians 13:4).
- Forgiving – Does not keep a record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5).
- Selfless – Puts others first (Philippians 2:3–4).
- Sacrificial – Gives without expecting anything back (John 15:13).
- Truthful – Rejoices in truth, not lies (1 Corinthians 13:6).
- Steadfast – Never gives up (1 Corinthians 13:7).
- Merciful – Shows compassion like Christ (Luke 6:36).
- Sincere – Genuine and without hypocrisy (Romans 12:9).

ILLUSTRATIONS
1. THE BRICKLAYER AND THE BROKEN WALL
Two bricklayers worked on a church wall.
One day, out of anger, the younger bricklayer destroyed a section the older man had built.
Instead of shouting or retaliating, the older man quietly rebuilt it.
The younger man later asked,
Why didn’t you fight back?
He replied,
Because Christ did not fight back with me. He loved me when I was wrong.
Lesson:
It is stronger than offense and more powerful than retaliation.
2. THE TWO BROTHERS AND THE BRIDGE
Two brothers quarreled and stopped speaking.
One built a fence to separate their homes.
The other asked a carpenter to build an even bigger fence.
Instead, the carpenter built a bridge.
When the brother saw it, he crossed over, embraced him, and peace returned.
Lesson:
A CALL TO REPENTANCE
Have you harbored bitterness, unforgiveness, jealousy, resentment, or silent hatred toward someone?
God calls you today to repent.
Love cannot flow where unforgiveness is stored.
Release it and be healed.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Tell God sincerely:
Lord, I have not reflected Your love.
Cleanse me from hatred, bitterness, anger, pride, and unforgiveness.
Break every hardness in my heart.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
I confess my shortcomings in love.
Forgive me for withholding love, harboring bitterness, and failing to show Your heart to others.
Wash me clean with the blood of Jesus.
Fill me with the Holy Spirit and empower me to love as You have loved me.
Make my heart tender, humble, and compassionate.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN
Blest Be the Tie That Binds
John Fawcett (1782)
1. Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above.
2. Before our Father's throne
we pour our ardent prayers;
our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
our comforts and our cares.
3. We share our mutual woes,
our mutual burdens bear,
and often for each other flows
the sympathizing tear.
4. When we are called to part,
it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still be joined in heart,
and hope to meet again.
5. This glorious hope revives
our courage by the way;
while each in expectation lives
and waits to see the day.
6. From sorrow, toil, and pain,
and sin, we shall be free;
and perfect love and friendship reign
through all eternity.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Do one deliberate act of love today:
- Call someone you’ve avoided.
- Forgive someone who hurt you.
- Help someone silently.
DEEP REFLECTION
Love is not a feeling; it is a Christlike action.
If God looked at your relationships today, would He see His nature in you?
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
You can love again.
You can forgive.
You can heal.
The Holy Spirit will empower you.
God’s love in you is greater than the hurt done to you.
ETERNITY IN VIEW
Heaven is a place of perfect love.
Those who cannot love here will struggle to fit there.
Live with eternity in mind; love deeply, forgive quickly, and walk in peace.

Amen!
