THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Nov 20th, 2025
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
NO ONE WHO CONTINUES TO SIN HAS EITHER SEEN HIM OR KNOWN HIM.
KEY VERSE
“No one who lives in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him.” — 1 John 3:6 (NIV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
This scripture confronts us with a sobering reality:
A life of continuous, unrepentant sin is proof that a person does not truly know Christ.
John is not describing a believer who struggles, falls, or battles temptation, but one who continues, persists, and remains in sin as a lifestyle.
To “see Him” and to “know Him” means more than church attendance or religious activity; it means an intimate encounter, a heart transformation, a renewing of desires, and a hatred for sin.
A person who truly knows Jesus:
- Cannot remain comfortable in sin.
- Cannot continue with rebellion.
- Cannot enjoy darkness while claiming to walk in the Light.
Real fellowship with Jesus produces holiness, conviction, repentance, and newness of life.
This scripture draws a clear line:
A sinful lifestyle reveals distance from Christ;
A holy lifestyle reveals intimacy with Him.

ILLUSTRATIONS
1. The Dirty Garment
A man received a new white robe as a gift.
At first he treasured it, but soon he began wearing it into muddy places and dirty markets.
The robe became stained, yet he felt no shame.
When asked why he treated it so carelessly, he simply shrugged.
Lesson:
When the heart is unchanged, even God’s gifts are neglected.
A person who continues in sin has not valued the robe of righteousness nor encountered the One who gave it.
2. The Lamp Without Oil
A woman had a beautiful lamp, but refused to refill it with oil.
The lamp looked good on the outside but produced no light.
Eventually, she stumbled in darkness and fell.
Lesson:
Without intimacy with Christ (the oil), outward religion cannot keep a person from falling into sin.
True knowledge of Christ fuels holiness, not hypocrisy.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Beloved, are there sins you have grown comfortable with?
Secret sins you no longer feel convicted about?
Patterns you keep returning to?
Today, the Holy Spirit says:
Come back to the Light.
Repent deeply.
Break the partnership with darkness.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Tell the Lord:
Father, strip me of every sin I’ve embraced.
Expose every darkness I’ve justified.
Break every pleasure in sin and replace it with hunger for Your presence.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
I acknowledge my sins before You.
Forgive me for every sinful pattern I have tolerated.
Wash me in the blood of Jesus.
Deliver me from every habit, desire, weakness, and darkness that pulls me away from You.
I renounce sin and return to You with my whole heart.
Help me walk in holiness and truth.
From today, let my life prove that I know You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN
Take My Life and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)
1. Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.
2. Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for Thee,
swift and beautiful for Thee.
3. Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.
4. Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.
5. Take my will and make it Thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is Thine own;
it shall be Thy royal throne,
it shall be Thy royal throne.
6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for Thee,
ever, only, all for Thee.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Identify one sin or habit you have tolerated.
Confess it today, renounce it, remove access to it, and replace it with a spiritual discipline (prayer, Scripture, accountability, fasting).
DEEP REFLECTION
If your lifestyle does not reflect Christ, then your intimacy with Him must be questioned.
Holiness is not optional, it is the evidence of true relationship.
Ask yourself:
Does my life show that I know Him?
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Don’t be discouraged, the same Jesus who calls you to holiness also empowers you to live it.
His mercy is available, and His Spirit strengthens your weakness.
You can live above sin, not by your strength, but by His grace.
CLOSING DECLARATION
I refuse to continue in sin.
I walk in the Light of Christ.
His Word transforms me;
His grace sustains me.
I am known by God, and my life will prove it.
I choose holiness, purity, and obedience, now and forever.
Amen.
