𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
DEAR CHILDREN!
KEY VERSE
“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin.” — 1 John 2:1 (NIV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
When the Apostle John says, “Dear children,” he writes not as a distant teacher but as a spiritual father filled with compassion, tenderness, and deep concern.
The phrase signifies intimacy, relationship, love, and responsibility.
Believers are not random followers of Christ; we are God’s beloved children, bought with a price, adopted into His family, and chosen to reflect His nature.
Being called “dear children” means:
- We are dearly loved.
- We are carefully watched over.
- We are expected to grow in righteousness.
- We are instructed to live above sin.
- We are empowered to overcome the evil one.
This identity is not earned, it is bestowed by grace through Christ.
As dear children, we are called to:
- Imitate our Father (Ephesians 5:1);
- Live in purity (1 John 3:3);
- Walk in the light (1 John 1:7); and
- Obey His commandments (1 John 5:3).
When you know who you are, you know how to live.
And when you know whose you are, you walk differently, talk differently, and fight differently.
Being called “Dear Children” is not just a title, it is a divine identity that shapes our life, choices, and destiny.

1. The Father’s Signature
A wealthy man wrote a cheque for his son’s education.
Someone asked the son,
How are you so confident your school will accept this?
He replied,
Because I know my father’s signature.
Lesson:
As God’s dear children, we walk with confidence because we know the Father’s character, promises, and faithfulness.
2. The Eagle and the Nest
A young eagle was raised among chickens.
One day, a storm came, and while the chickens panicked, the eagle opened its wings and rose above the wind.
It finally discovered its true identity.
Lesson:
When you discover you are a child of God, you stop living like the world.
You rise higher because you know who you are.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Beloved, have you lived below your identity?
Have you acted like a spiritual orphan even though God calls you His child?
Have you allowed sin, fear, or compromise to define you?
Return today to the Father who lovingly calls you, “Dear child.”
DEEP REPENTANCE
Say to God:
I have allowed the world to shape me, sin to weaken me, and fear to silence me.
Forgive me.
Restore my identity as Your dear child.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
I confess my sins and ask for Your mercy.
Forgive me for every action, thought, and attitude that did not reflect my identity as Your child.
Wash me clean, renew my heart, and restore me to the path of righteousness.
Help me walk in the truth, purity, and power of being Your beloved child.

HYMN
Children of the Heavenly Father
Lina Sandell-Berg (1855)
1. Children of the Heav'nly Father,
Safely in His bosom gather;
Nesting bird nor star in Heaven
Such a refuge e'er was given.
2. God His own does tend and nourish;
In His Holy Courts they flourish.
From all evil things He spares them;
In His mighty arms He bears them.
3. Neither life nor death shall ever
from the Lord His children sever;
Unto them His grace is showing,
And their sorrows all is knowing.
4. Lo, their very hairs He numbers,
And no daily care encumbers
Those who share His ev'ry blessing,
And His help in woes distressing.
5. Praise the Lord in joyful numbers;
Your protector never slumbers;
At the will of Your Defender,
Every rival must surrender.
6. God has given, He has taken,
But His child is ne’er forsaken;
His the loving purpose solely
To preserve us, pure and holy.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Write down three areas of your life where you have forgotten your identity as a child of God.
Pray over them and declare your authority as God’s dear child over each situation.
DEEP REFLECTION
If the Father calls you “dear child,” why do you call yourself weak, defeated, unworthy, or alone?
Step into who God says you are, not who circumstances say you are.
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
You are precious to God.
You are not forgotten, abandoned, or insignificant.
His eyes are on you, His hand is over you, and His love surrounds you.
Walk boldly, you belong to the King of Kings.
CLOSING DECLARATION
I am a dear child of God.
I walk in His truth, light, and love.
His Spirit leads me;
His grace strengthens me; and
His Word shapes me.
I reject every lie of the enemy.
I embrace my identity as God’s beloved.
I move forward with confidence, purpose, and victory.
Amen.
