THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Nov 29th, 2025
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
NO ONE BORN OF GOD MAKES A PRACTICE OF SINNING!
KEY VERSE
“No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, because God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God.” — 1 John 3:9 (ESV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
A true encounter with God transforms a person from the inside out.
John boldly declares that anyone who is truly “born of God”; anyone who has genuinely received the life of Christ; cannot continue living in habitual sin.
This does not mean the believer never stumbles.
It means the believer can no longer enjoy sin, dwell in sin, justify sin, or remain in it without deep conviction.
Why?
- Because God’s seed; His life, His Spirit, His nature; now lives inside the believer.
- Just like a seed produces fruit after its kind, God’s nature in us produces righteousness, holiness, obedience, and a hatred for sin.
The new birth changes your desires.
It shifts your appetite, rewires your affections, and strengthens your will to choose God over flesh.
- A child of God may fall, but he cannot make sin a lifestyle.
- He may be tempted, but he cannot settle in darkness.
- He may struggle, but he cannot remain comfortable in rebellion.
This truth sets a dividing line between religion and new birth, between church attendance and conversion, between lip service and life transformation.
- Holiness is not punishment; it is proof that you belong to Him.
- Righteous living is not bondage; it is freedom from the chains of sin.
Where Jesus lives, sin cannot dominate.
CHARACTERISTICS OF A PERSON BORN OF GOD

- They practice righteousness — 1 John 3:7
- They love others with sincerity — 1 John 4:7–8
- They overcome the world by faith — 1 John 5:4

ILLUSTRATIONS
1. The Clean Cup
A woman washed two cups:
one was spotless inside and out;
the other was sparkling outside but filthy inside.
She placed both on the table.
A visitor arrived and asked for water.
She gave him the clean one, hiding the dirty one behind her.
Lesson:
God is not looking at outward religion; He sees the heart.
The person truly born of God is clean from within, and therefore cannot return to the filth of habitual sin.
2. The Sheep and the Pig
A sheep may fall into mud but cries to be rescued because mud is not its nature.
A pig, however, will run into mud and roll comfortably because mud is its habitat.
Lesson:
A child of God (sheep) may stumble, but cannot stay in sin.
The unconverted heart (pig) feels at home in sin.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Beloved, have you made peace with sin?
Have you grown comfortable with habits God hates?
Have you excused rebellion instead of surrendering it?
Today, the Spirit calls you back to holiness, back to purity, back to the cross where transformation begins.
Repent; not out of fear, but out of love for the God who gave everything to save you.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Say with sincerity:
Lord, I am tired of cycles of sin.
I am weary of living below the standard of Your grace.
Break the chains that bind me, expose every darkness in me, and restore me to the life You intended.
I surrender completely.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Forgive me for every disobedience, compromise, and secret fault.
Wash me in the blood of Jesus.
Break every habit that displeases You.
Let Your seed, Your Word, Your Spirit, Your life, grow in me until sin loses its grip.
From today, I choose righteousness and reject sin.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

HYMN
Take My Life and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)
1. Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.
2. Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for Thee,
swift and beautiful for Thee.
3. Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from Thee,
filled with messages from Thee.
4. Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as Thou shalt choose,
every power as Thou shalt choose.
5. Take my will and make it Thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is Thine own;
it shall be Thy royal throne,
it shall be Thy royal throne.
6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for Thee,
ever, only, all for Thee.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Identify one sinful habit or compromise you have tolerated.
Replace it with a spiritual discipline; prayer, fasting, Scripture, or accountability.
DEEP REFLECTION
Holiness is not optional; it is the identity of a child of God.
Does my daily life reflect the nature of the One who lives in me?
Let the Holy Spirit search you deeply.

You are not abandoned.
The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you.
You can overcome sin because God’s seed is in you.
