THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Nov 5th, 2025
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
HIS LOVE IS SO GREAT THAT WE ARE CALLED GOD’S CHILDREN!
KEY VERSE
“Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.” — 1 John 3:1 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
God’s love is not a distant feeling, it is active, intentional, and transforming.
The Apostle John begins this verse with awe:
Behold! meaning
Look carefully, pay attention, and be amazed!
The love of the Father is so extraordinary that it takes us, once sinners and strangers, and makes us His very own children.
This divine love is not earned by good deeds or human effort; it is bestowed, freely given through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:8).
To be called God’s children is the highest honor and the deepest identity a human being can receive.
It means we:
Share in His nature (2 Peter 1:4),
Are guided by His Spirit (Romans 8:14), and
Are heirs of His kingdom (Romans 8:17).
The world cannot understand this relationship because it is spiritually discerned.
While earthly love changes with time, God’s love is eternal, unconditional, and redemptive.
His love adopts us, cleanses us, empowers us, and secures us forever.
CHARACTERISTICS OF GOD’S GREAT LOVE
- Unconditional – It loves even the unlovable. (Romans 5:8)
- Adopting – It makes us children, not servants. (Ephesians 1:5)
- Transforming – It changes our identity and destiny. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- Protective – It shields us from the enemy’s destruction. (Psalm 91:4)
- Everlasting – It never ends or fails. (Jeremiah 31:3)
- Corrective – It disciplines us as true sons. (Hebrews 12:6)
- Victorious – It gives us confidence over fear and condemnation. (1 John 4:18, Romans 8:37–39)
ILLUSTRATIONS
1. The Adopted Prince
A wealthy king visited an orphanage and adopted a frail boy.
The child, once hungry and dirty, now wore royal garments and dined with the king daily.
Yet one day, he asked,
Why did you choose me?
The king replied,
Because I saw my love reflected in your eyes.
Lesson:
God saw you not as you were, but as He intended you to be, His beloved child.
His love reached you not because you were worthy, but because He is merciful.
2. The Broken Mirror Restored
A father gave his son a beautiful mirror.
One day, the boy broke it in anger.
Regretful, he wept and hid.
But the father patiently gathered every piece and restored the mirror, polishing it until it shone brighter than before.
Lesson:
Sin may have shattered our lives, but God’s love restores us piece by piece.
He doesn’t throw us away, His love makes us whole again.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Beloved, have you been living like a stranger in your Father’s house?
Have you doubted His love or tried to earn what He freely gave?
The Father’s arms are open wide.
Return to Him and embrace your identity as His child.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Say this prayer sincerely:
Father, I confess that I have sometimes forgotten who I am in You.
I’ve let sin, fear, and doubt separate me from Your presence.
Forgive me, Lord.
I return to You, not as a servant begging for mercy, but as a child returning home.
Wash me with Your love and restore my fellowship with You.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Loving Father,
I thank You for Your great love that called me Your child.
I confess my sins and every moment I doubted Your affection.
Forgive me for living in fear instead of faith.
Let Your love heal my heart, renew my mind, and fill my spirit.
From today, I receive my place as Your beloved child.
May Your love abide in me forever.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

HYMN
Children of the Heavenly King
John Cennick (1742)
1. Children of the heavenly King,
As we journey let us sing;
Sing our Savior’s worthy praise,
Glorious in His works and ways,
Glorious in His works and ways.
2. We are traveling home to God,
In the way our fathers trod;
They are happy now, and we
Soon their happiness shall see,
Soon their happiness shall see.
3. Fear not, brethren; joyful stand
On the borders of our land;
Jesus Christ, our Father’s Son,
Bids us undismayed go on,
Bids us undismayed go on.
4. Lord, obediently we'll go,
Gladly leaving all below;
Only Thou our leader be,
And we still will follow Thee,
And we still will follow Thee.
5. Lift your eyes, ye sons of light,
Zion’s city is in sight;
There our endless home shall be,
There our Lord we soon shall see.
There our Lord we soon shall see.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Meditate on this truth throughout the day:
Whenever you feel fear, guilt, or loneliness, declare it aloud.
Write down three ways you can reflect God’s love to others this week, through forgiveness, generosity, or encouragement.
DEEP REFLECTION
The greatest revelation a believer can receive is the Fatherhood of God.
Once you understand you are not a slave but a son or daughter, your entire life changes.
His love is not distant; it is present, patient, and powerful.
You are not abandoned, you are adopted.
CLOSING DECLARATION

I am loved, chosen, and redeemed.
