THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Oct 11th, 2025
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
YOU KNOW IT, AND THAT NO LIE IS OF THE TRUTH
KEY VERSE:
“I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.” – 1 John 2:21 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Truth and lies are opposites that can never coexist.
The Apostle John reminds believers that the Spirit of God dwelling in them enables them to discern truth from deception.
To “know the truth” is not mere intellectual awareness; it is a spiritual revelation rooted in Jesus Christ, who declared,
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).
When John says,
No lie is of the truth,
He establishes that truth and falsehood have distinct sources,
Truth comes from God;
Lies come from the devil
(John 8:44).
Therefore, any teaching, lifestyle, or influence contrary to the Word of God is a lie.
In our world today, false doctrines, moral compromises, and deceptive philosophies abound.
But the believer who abides in the Word and is led by the Holy Spirit will not be deceived.
When the truth of God fills your heart, lies lose their power over you.
To know the truth is to walk in light.
To believe the lie is to dwell in darkness.
The truth sanctifies, liberates, and transforms.
The lie corrupts, binds, and destroys.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO WALK IN THE TRUTH
-
They are guided by the Spirit of Truth – John 16:13
-
They speak truth in love – Ephesians 4:15
-
They reject deceit and hypocrisy – Psalm 101:7
-
They walk in integrity – Proverbs 12:22
-
They are sanctified by the truth – John 17:17
-
They endure persecution for truth’s sake – 2 Timothy 3:12
-
They are free because truth liberates – John 8:32
ILLUSTRATIONS
1. The Counterfeit and the Original
A banker once trained new staff on identifying counterfeit currency.
Interestingly, he did not show them fake notes; he made them handle only genuine ones.
After days of touching, feeling, and studying real notes, they could instantly detect counterfeits.
Lesson: When your life is saturated with God’s truth, lies become instantly recognizable.
The more you know the Word, the less likely you are to be deceived by error.
2. The Broken Compass
A sailor trusted his compass during a storm, but the compass was magnetically corrupted, it pointed him away from safety.
Only when he replaced it with a true compass did he find the right course.
Lesson: Many follow distorted “truths” shaped by culture and emotion.
Christ is the true compass; only His Word points us to eternal safety.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Have you believed lies that contradicted God’s Word?
Lies about your worth, your future, or your faith?
Have you allowed false teachings or worldly ideas to cloud your discernment?
Today, repent.
Return to the truth of God’s Word.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Cry out to God from your heart:
Lord, remove every falsehood I have believed, every deception that has shaped my thoughts and choices.
Let Your truth expose and uproot every lie that has taken root in me.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Heavenly Father,
I come humbly before You, confessing that I have sometimes believed lies instead of Your truth.
Forgive me, Lord, for every compromise and deception I have entertained.
Wash me in Your Word, cleanse my mind, and fill me with Your truth.
Let Your Spirit of Truth guide me daily, that I may walk in light and integrity.
I renounce every lie of the enemy and declare that Jesus is my Truth forever.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN
Holy Bible, Book Divine
John Burton Sr. (1803)
Holy Bible, book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine;
Mine to tell me whence I came;
Mine to teach me what I am.
Mine to chide me when I rove,
Mine to show a Savior’s love;
Mine thou art to guide my feet,
Mine to judge, condemn, acquit.
Mine to comfort in distress,
Suffering in this wilderness;
Mine to show by living faith,
Man can triumph over death.
Mine to tell of joys to come,
And the rebel sinner’s doom;
O thou holy book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine!
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Spend time today identifying one “lie” you’ve accepted, about yourself, your purpose, or your situation, and confront it with the truth of Scripture.
Write that truth down and declare it aloud three times today.
DEEP REFLECTION
Truth is not just a concept; it is a Person, Jesus Christ.
When the truth abides in you, deception loses its grip.
To walk in truth is to walk in freedom.
Ask yourself:
Does my life reflect the truth I profess to believe?
