I HAVE NOT WRITTEN TO YOU BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW THE TRUTH!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Oct 10th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
I HAVE NOT WRITTEN TO YOU BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW THE TRUTH!

KEY VERSE

“I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.”1 John 2:21 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Apostle John wrote these words to remind believers that they already possess the truth through their relationship with Christ.

The issue was not ignorance, but remembrance and reinforcement.

In an age of deception, John wanted them to be anchored in what they already knew, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that the truth of His Word is unchangeable.

God’s Word is not hidden from us; it is written to remind us, not because we are ignorant, but because we often forget.

The Spirit of truth lives within every believer (John 16:13), guiding us into all truth.

However, when believers stop abiding in that truth, they become vulnerable to deception and confusion.

This verse is a gentle warning:

hold fast to the truth you already know.

The enemy’s oldest weapon is the distortion of truth (Genesis 3:1).

Therefore, we must keep the Word alive in our hearts, not as information, but as revelation that governs our lives.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO KNOW THE TRUTH

  1. They Walk in the Light – (1 John 1:7) They live transparently before God.

  2. They Abide in Christ – (John 15:4-5) The truth is sustained through abiding fellowship.

  3. They Are Led by the Spirit of Truth – (John 16:13) The Holy Spirit reveals truth, not confusion.

  4. They Obey God’s Word – (John 14:23) Truth produces obedience, not argument.

  5. They Speak No Lies – (Ephesians 4:25) Truth flows from their lips because of integrity within.

  6. They Test Every Spirit – (1 John 4:1) They discern false teachings through the Word.

  7. They Remain in Love – (2 John 1:6) Truth and love walk hand in hand.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Forgotten Lamp

A man once owned a beautiful oil lamp that illuminated his home during power outages.

Over time, he forgot about it and let it gather dust in a corner.

When darkness suddenly came, he stumbled and fell, forgetting the lamp he already had.

Lesson: Many believers stumble not because they lack the truth but because they forget to use it.

You already have the truth, keep it burning!

2. The Musician’s Note

A skilled violinist once played beautifully, but over time, his instrument went out of tune.

When asked why, he replied,

I thought I didn’t need to check my strings daily.

Lesson: Even when you know the truth, you must tune your spirit daily with the Word.

Knowing truth without staying aligned produces discord in life.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you neglected the truth you once knew?

Have you allowed worldly opinions, fear, or distractions to drown out God’s voice?

It’s time to repent and return to the simplicity of God’s truth.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Father, I confess that I have known the truth but sometimes lived as though I didn’t.

I have doubted Your promises and compromised Your standards.

Forgive me for every time I chose convenience over conviction.

Cleanse me and realign my heart with Your truth once again.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the truth that sets me free.

Forgive me for ignoring or neglecting what I already know in Your Word.

Cleanse me from deception, doubt, and spiritual forgetfulness.

Let Your truth abide richly in my heart and rule my thoughts, speech, and actions.

Holy Spirit, help me to walk in the truth daily, even when it is unpopular.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

  1. John 8:32 – “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

  2. John 16:13 – “When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth.”

  3. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God… that the man of God may be perfect.”

  4. Psalm 119:160 – “Thy word is true from the beginning.”

  5. Ephesians 6:14 – “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth.”

  6. John 14:6 – “Jesus saith… I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

  7. Proverbs 23:23 – “Buy the truth, and sell it not.”

HYMN

Standing on the Promises of Christ My King
Russell Kelso Carter (1886)

1. Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God!

Chorus:

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God!

2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail!
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God.

3. Standing on the promises, I now can see
perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
standing on the promises of God.

4. Standing on the promises of Christ, the Lord,
bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit’s Sword,
standing on the promises of God.

5. Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
list'ning ev'ry moment to the Spirit’s call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Spend time today reflecting on one biblical truth you already know but have not been practicing.

Write it down and ask the Holy Spirit to help you live it out this week.

DEEP REFLECTION

Truth that is not practiced becomes dormant.

Knowledge must turn into obedience, and belief must become behavior.

Remember:

God has not written to you because you are ignorant, but because you already know the truth.

Now, walk in it!

CLOSING DECLARATION

I know the truth, and the truth of God abides in me!

I will not be swayed by lies, deception, or fear.

I will walk in the light of the Word, guided by the Spirit of Truth.

My heart is steadfast, my mind is renewed, and my life reflects the truth of Christ Jesus.

Amen.

  3. Holy Spirit, strengthen my mind to remember and live by the truth, in the name of Jesus.

  4. Lord, deliver me from every deception and false doctrine, in the name of Jesus.

  5. Father, establish my heart in the knowledge of Your Word, in the name of Jesus.

  6. Lord, open my eyes to see and understand divine truth daily, in the name of Jesus.

  7. Father, give me boldness to speak the truth in love, in the name of Jesus.

  8. Lord, let Your truth become my shield and my foundation, in the name of Jesus.

  9. Holy Spirit, quicken every Word I’ve heard that lies dormant within me, in the name of Jesus.

  10. Father, through Your truth, let my life become a living testimony of Your Word, in the name of Jesus.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION

Today, I declare that the truth of God’s Word reigns in me!

No lie of the enemy shall prevail over my life.

I am rooted, grounded, and established in divine truth.

The Spirit of truth empowers me to walk in victory, wisdom, and discernment.

Every deception is broken, and I rise as a bearer of truth in my generation!

So shall it be, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Amen!
