WHO IS A LIAR?

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WHO IS A LIAR?

KEY VERSE

“Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.”1 John 2:22 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Bible defines a liar not merely as one who tells falsehoods, but as anyone who denies the truth of Christ, His Lordship, Divinity, and saving Power.

To lie against the truth is to reject the light of God and walk in deception.

Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44), and his goal is to make men reject or distort the truth of Jesus Christ.

From Eden to today, the enemy’s greatest weapon has been deceit, convincing humanity to question God’s Word.

When we live outside truth, by denying God in words or deeds, by hypocrisy, by living contrary to Scripture, we align ourselves with the spirit of falsehood.

But when the truth abides in us, we become light bearers in a world of darkness.

Lying is not just about speech, it’s about living a false life, pretending to know God while denying Him in actions.

The believer must walk in truth, for truth is the mark of divine sonship.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A LIAR

  1. Denies Jesus as the Christ – 1 John 2:22
  2. Walks in darkness but claims fellowship with God1 John 1:6
  3. Claims to know God but disobeys His commandments1 John 2:4
  4. Deceives others for gain or self-praiseProverbs 12:22
  5. Speaks contrary to truth under Satan’s influence – John 8:44
  6. Lives in hypocrisyTitus 1:16
  7. Rejects correction and accountabilityProverbs 19:9

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Broken Mirror

A woman used a broken mirror every morning.

Though she thought she saw herself clearly, her reflection was distorted, her view was false.

One day, she looked into a clear mirror and gasped at the truth.

Lesson: When we live by half-truths or false beliefs, we see life through a distorted mirror.

Only Christ, the true Light, reveals our real condition.

2. The Counterfeit Coin

A merchant once made counterfeit coins to enrich himself.

They looked real, but when tested by fire, they melted and were rejected.

Lesson: Falsehood may look convincing for a while, but truth will always prevail under divine examination.

Those who walk in lies will not stand in God’s judgment.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you denied Christ by your lifestyle, compromised truth for comfort, or spoken deceit to cover sin?

Repent today!

Every unconfessed lie gives Satan a foothold.

Return to the truth of God’s Word and let His light cleanse you.

DEEP REPENTANCE

This is not about minor regret, it’s about breaking every covenant with deceit.

Say:

Lord, I have walked in shadows of falsehood, pretending, excusing, hiding.

I renounce every lie I’ve lived or spoken.

Expose my heart and purge me until only truth remains in me.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I confess that I have not always walked in truth.

Forgive me for every lie, every hypocrisy, and every moment I denied You through my words or actions.

Wash me in the blood of Jesus.

Let Your Spirit of Truth abide in me, and let deceit die in my heart.

From today, make me a vessel of truth, integrity, and light.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

HYMN

Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Robert Robinson, 1758

1. Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
Sung by flaming tongues above;
Praise His name I’m fixed upon it
Name of God’s redeeming love.

2. Hither to Thy love has blest me;
Thou hast bro’t me to this place;
And I know Thy hand will bring me
Safely home by Thy good grace.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Bought me with His precious blood.

3. O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee:
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it;
Seal it for Thy courts above.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Speak only what is true today, no exaggeration, no deception, no pretense.

Let your heart and mouth agree with God’s truth in every conversation and decision.

DEEP REFLECTION

Truth is not what you say, it is who you are in Christ.

If Jesus, the Truth, lives in you, then lies cannot remain in you.

Ask yourself:

Does my life reflect truth or convenience?

CLOSING DECLARATION

The truth of God reigns in me.

I renounce every lie, deceit, and hypocrisy.

I live by the Word of Truth, and my life is a testimony of Christ’s light.

I am a child of truth, walking in holiness and integrity.

The spirit of falsehood has no power over me.

I belong to Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Amen!

I am a vessel of divine truth!

Every lie of the enemy is broken.

The spirit of deception has no power over me.

The truth of God abides in my heart, renews my mind, and directs my steps.

I walk in purity, light, and integrity.

My tongue shall speak truth, my life shall reveal Christ, and my path shall shine brighter and brighter, in the mighty name of Jesus.

Amen!
