WHEN HE APPEARS!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WHEN HE APPEARS!

KEY VERSE

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.”1 John 3:2 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The phrase “When He Appears” speaks of the glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ, the moment when faith shall give way to sight, and the eternal promise becomes reality.

It is the believer’s ultimate hope, the climax of redemption, and the reward for perseverance.

The world may mock this promise, but to the children of God, it is an anchor of hope (Titus 2:13).

The appearance of Christ is not just an event, it is a revelation of His glory and our transformation into His likeness.

When He appears:

This truth should awaken holiness, watchfulness, and readiness in every believer.

The question is not if He will appear, but are you ready when He appears?

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE EXPECTING HIS APPEARING

  1. Purity of Life – “Every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself” (1 John 3:3).
  2. Faithfulness in Service – “Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing” (Matthew 24:46).
  3. Endurance in Trials – “Be patient... for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh” (James 5:8).
  4. Love for His Appearing – “A crown of righteousness… to all who love His appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8).
  5. Heavenly Focus – “Set your affection on things above” (Colossians 3:2–4).
  6. Holy Conversation and Godliness – “Seeing that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be” (2 Peter 3:11).
  7. Preparedness and Watchfulness – “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour” (Matthew 25:13).

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Bride Awaiting the Groom

A bride was engaged to her beloved groom who went away to prepare a place for her.

Every day she waited, preparing her garments and trimming her lamp, never losing hope though many mocked her.

One midnight, the call came:

The bridegroom comes!

She was ready and entered the feast with him.

Lesson: The Church is the bride of Christ.

Only those who keep their lamps burning in faith and purity will enter into His joy when He appears (Matthew 25:1–13).

2. The Sleeping Guard

A city guard was assigned to watch the gate until the king’s return.

Days turned to weeks, and he grew weary.

One night he fell asleep, and the king arrived to find him slumbering.

He lost his reward.

Lesson: Many believers are spiritually asleep, distracted by the world.

Jesus will come suddenly, stay awake and alert (Mark 13:35–37).

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, are you truly ready for His appearing?

Are your garments clean, your heart pure, and your lamp burning?

Many have grown cold and careless in their walk with God.

This is the time to awaken from spiritual sleep.

The King is coming soon, repent and return to your first love.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Cry out to God:

Lord, cleanse me from every sin, distraction, and double-mindedness.

Deliver me from lukewarmness and worldliness.

Prepare me as a vessel worthy of Your appearing.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come before You with a contrite heart.

Forgive me for every sin, compromise, and coldness in my spirit.

Wash me in the blood of Jesus.

Renew my love, awaken my passion, and purify my heart.

Lord, when You appear, let me be found faithful, holy, and ready to meet You in glory.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

  1. John 14:2–3 – Jesus prepares a place for us and will return to receive us.
  2. 1 Corinthians 15:51–52 – In a moment, we shall all be changed.
  3. Titus 2:13 – Looking for that blessed hope and glorious appearing.
  4. Matthew 24:44 – Be ready, for the Son of Man comes at an hour you do not expect.
  5. 2 Peter 3:10–12 – The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.
  6. Philippians 3:20–21 – We await our Savior, who will transform our bodies.
  7. Revelation 22:12 – Behold, I come quickly; My reward is with Me.

HYMN

When He Shall Come
Eliza E. Hewitt (1898)

When He shall come, resplendent in His glory,
To take His own from out this vale of night,
O may I know the joy at His appearing,
Only at morn to walk with Him in white!

Refrain:
When He shall come, when He shall come,
O may I be prepared to meet Him!
When He shall come, when He shall come,
O may I walk with Him in white!

When I shall stand within the court of Heaven
Where white robed pilgrims pass before my sight,
Earth's martyred saints and bloodwashed overcomers
These then are they who walk with Him in white.

When He shall call from earth's remotest corners
All who have stood triumphant in His might,
O to be worthy then to stand beside them
And in that morn to walk with Him in white.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Spend time today reflecting on eternity.

Ask yourself:

If Jesus appeared today, would I be ready?

Take one practical step to strengthen your walk with God, repent, reconcile, forgive, or recommit.

DEEP REFLECTION

When He Appears” will not be the time to prepare; it will be the time to appear.

Preparation must be now.

Live every day as if it were your last opportunity to shine for Christ.

The world is fading, but His coming is near.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I am a child of God, washed in the blood of Jesus.

My heart is ready, my lamp is burning, and my faith is alive.

I will not sleep nor turn back.

I am watching, waiting, and walking in holiness.

When He appears, I shall be like Him and reign with Him in glory.

Amen!
