THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Oct 30th, 2025
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE MAY BE FULL OF COURAGE!
KEY VERSE
“Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” — Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Courage is not the absence of fear but the strength to move forward despite it.
True courage is not born from human confidence but from divine assurance, the awareness that God is with you.
In a world filled with uncertainty, discouragement, and opposition, God’s command still echoes:
This is not merely advice, it’s a divine instruction rooted in faith.
When the Spirit of God dwells in you, He produces holy boldness that enables you to face trials, confront sin, declare truth, and walk in obedience even when it’s unpopular or difficult.
Courage is the fruit of trust, trust in the One who cannot fail.
Many falter not because their challenges are too great but because their faith is too small.
Yet, when the Word of God fills your heart, courage rises, fear flees, and victory follows.
CHARACTERISTICS OF GODLY COURAGE
- Rooted in Faith – True courage comes from trusting God’s promises (Deuteronomy 31:6).
- Strengthened by the Word – God’s Word empowers boldness (Joshua 1:8-9).
- Fueled by the Holy Spirit – The Spirit gives power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
- Unshaken in Adversity – Courage stands firm even in danger (Psalm 27:1-3).
- Obedient in Purpose – Courage acts upon God’s command (Acts 5:29).
- Enduring Under Pressure – Courage keeps standing till victory comes (1 Corinthians 16:13).
- Encouraging to Others – True courage inspires others to believe (Philippians 1:14).
ILLUSTRATIONS
1. The Bridge of Faith
A man came to a shaky wooden bridge over a raging river.
Others feared to cross.
But he stepped forward, trusting the ropes that held it together.
When he crossed safely, others gained the courage to follow.
Lesson: Courage rooted in faith not only brings personal victory but encourages others to trust God and walk forward too.
2. The Torch in the Dark Cave
A miner trapped in darkness held onto a small torch.
The light didn’t eliminate the entire darkness but gave enough brightness for the next few steps.
As he kept walking, the path opened up.
Lesson: Courage doesn’t always mean knowing the full path, it’s trusting God for light for the next step.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Have you allowed fear, doubt, or discouragement to paralyze your faith?
Have you turned back when God said, “Go forward”?
Repent today.
Fear is not from God.
Reclaim your confidence in Him.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Lord, I confess that I have often let fear rule me instead of faith.
I have doubted Your promises, retreated from challenges, and let my heart be anxious.
Forgive me, Father.
Deliver me from every spirit of fear and unbelief.
Fill me with Your Spirit of boldness, power, and divine courage to walk in obedience every day.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for every time I let fear silence my faith and doubt hinder my obedience.
I renounce every spirit of fear and unbelief.
Holy Spirit, fill me with courage, strength, and steadfast confidence in Your Word.
Let me walk in boldness, stand in truth, and live with the assurance that You are with me always.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN
Be Strong in the Lord
Linda Lee Johnson (1979)
1. Be strong in the Lord and be of good courage;
Your mighty Defender is always the same.
Mount up with wings as the eagle ascending;
Victory is sure when you call on His name.
Chorus:
Be strong, be strong, be strong in the Lord;
And be of good courage, for He is your guide.
Be strong, be strong, be strong in the Lord;
And rejoice for the victory is yours!
2. So put on the armor the Lord has provided,
and place your defense in his unfailing care.
Trust him for he will be with you in battle,
lighting your path to avoid every snare.
3. Be strong in the Lord, and be of good courage;
your mighty Commander will vanquish the foe.
Fear not the battle for the victory is always his;
he will protect you wherever you go.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Face one fear you’ve been avoiding.
Speak God’s Word into that situation (Joshua 1:9).
Write down one courageous step of obedience you’ll take this week, and take it.
DEEP REFLECTION
Courage doesn’t come from self-confidence; it flows from God-confidence.
The same God who called Moses, strengthened Joshua, and empowered David dwells in you.
Don’t measure your courage by your weakness, measure it by His strength in you.
