HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF GOD ABIDES FOREVER!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF GOD ABIDES FOREVER!

KEY VERSE

“And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”1 John 2:17 (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Life on earth is fleeting.

Riches, power, fame, and worldly pleasures are temporary, they fade like morning dew.

But those who live according to the will of God step into the eternal.

Doing God’s will is aligning your desires with His, submitting your life to His Word, and obeying His Spirit’s leading.

The will of God is not hidden:

It is revealed in His Word (Romans 12:2).
It is that we should walk in holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:3),
Live in thanksgiving (1 Thessalonians 5:18), and
Bear fruit that lasts (John 15:16).

Those who live in rebellion may shine for a moment, but only those who do the will of God endure forever in His Kingdom.

CHARACTERISTICS OF ONE WHO DOES GOD’S WILL

  1. Obedient to God’s Word – (James 1:22) Not just hearers but doers.
  2. Loves God Above All – (Mark 12:30) Heart, soul, mind, and strength belong to Him.
  3. Lives a Holy Life – (1 Thessalonians 4:3) Sanctification is God’s will.
  4. Lives in Thanksgiving – (1 Thessalonians 5:18) Gratitude in all circumstances.
  5. Seeks God’s Kingdom First – (Matthew 6:33) Prioritizing eternal over temporal.
  6. Perseveres in Faith – (Hebrews 10:36) Endures until receiving the promise.
  7. Produces Fruit – (John 15:8) A life that glorifies God through lasting results.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Builder’s Choice

A wealthy man instructed two builders to construct homes.

One cut corners, used cheap materials, and finished quickly;

The other labored with diligence, using strong foundations and quality resources.

When storms came, the first house collapsed, but the second stood firm.

Lesson: Doing the will of God is like building with strong foundations, it endures forever (Matthew 7:24-27).

2. The Athlete’s Prize

Two athletes ran a marathon.

One followed the rules, running with endurance;

The other cheated, leaving the track to shorten the distance.

The cheater crossed the line first but was disqualified, while the faithful runner received the crown.

Lesson: Only those who run according to God’s will receive the eternal prize (2 Timothy 2:5; 2 Timothy 4:7-8).

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Are you living for the passing pleasures of this world instead of God’s eternal purpose?

Repent today!

The world and its lusts will fade away, but only those who do God’s will abide forever.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Cry out:

Lord, I have chased after vanity, selfish desires, and worldly ambitions.

I repent of living for myself.

I lay down my will, my pride, and my stubbornness.

Let Your will become my will.

Break me, mold me, and use me for Your eternal glory.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

Forgive me for living to please myself rather than doing Your will.

Cleanse me from every selfish desire, and align my life with Your divine purpose.

Lord Jesus, I surrender my heart and will to You.

Holy Spirit, empower me to walk daily in obedience, holiness, and truth, that I may abide with You forever.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

  1. Romans 12:2 – Be transformed by renewing your mind to know God’s will.
  2. John 6:38 – Jesus came to do His Father’s will, not His own.
  3. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 – God’s will is your sanctification.
  4. Hebrews 10:36 – Endurance is needed to receive the promise.
  5. 1 Peter 4:2 – Live for the will of God, not for human desires.
  6. Colossians 1:9 – Be filled with the knowledge of His will in wisdom.
  7. Matthew 7:21 – Only those who do the will of the Father enter the Kingdom.

HYMN

Take My Life and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal, 1874

1. Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

2. Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold
Not a mite would I with-hold;
Take my intellect and use
Ev’ry pow’r as Thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it Thine
It shall be no longer mine;
Take my heart it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

6. Take my love my Lord, l pour
At Thy feet its treasure store;
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Write down one area where your will is clashing with God’s.

Pray over it, and intentionally choose to surrender that area to Him today.

DEEP REFLECTION

Living for yourself is temporary; living for God is eternal.

When you are gone, will your works burn away like chaff, or will they remain as fruit that glorifies God forever?

CLOSING DECLARATION

I will no longer live for my will but for the will of God.

I choose obedience over rebellion, eternal purpose over fleeting pleasures.

I am consecrated to God, strengthened by His Spirit, and assured of eternal life.

I abide forever in Christ, the Living Word.

Amen!
