A LIFE UNITED BY THE TRUTH OF CHRIST

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“The elder, unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth.” — 2 John 1:1 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Apostle John wrote this powerful letter to encourage believers to remain steadfast in the truth of God. His words reveal that true Christian fellowship is not built merely on emotions, traditions, tribe, status, or earthly relationships, but upon the unchanging truth of Jesus Christ.

When John said, “not I only, but also all they that have known the truth,” he revealed a deep spiritual reality: everyone who genuinely knows Christ is connected by divine truth. The truth creates unity, love, holiness, obedience, and spiritual fellowship among believers.

Today, many claim to know God, yet reject His truth. Some prefer convenience over conviction, popularity over righteousness, and compromise over holiness. However, genuine believers are identified by their love for truth, obedience to God’s Word, and steadfastness in righteousness.

Truth is not merely information; truth is a person; Jesus Christ. The Lord said:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life...” — John 14:6

To know the truth means:

  • to know Christ personally,
  • to walk in obedience,
  • to reject falsehood,
  • to stand for righteousness,
  • and to remain faithful until the end.

The world may celebrate deception, but heaven honors those who walk in truth. A believer who truly knows the truth will love God sincerely, forgive others, pursue holiness, speak honestly, and remain faithful even during persecution.

John’s statement also teaches that truth creates godly love among believers. Real Christian love is not based on selfish gain but on shared commitment to Christ. The family of God is united by truth, purified by truth, and preserved by truth.

In these last days, many voices compete for attention. False doctrines, worldly ideologies, sinful pleasures, and spiritual distractions seek to pull believers away from Christ. Yet those who know the truth must remain grounded in Scripture and led by the Holy Spirit.

Do you truly know the truth, or do you merely know about religion? Have you surrendered fully to Christ? Are you walking daily in obedience to God’s Word?

The greatest testimony is not merely attending church, but living daily in the truth of God.

WALKING IN TRUTH, LOVE, AND GODLY OBEDIENCE

WALKING IN TRUTH, LOVE, AND GODLY OBEDIENCE

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“The elder, unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth.” - 2 John 1:1

KEY VERSE

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” - John 8:32

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The Apostle John addressed his second epistle to “the elect lady and her children,” speaking with deep affection rooted in divine truth. This greeting reveals three powerful realities of the Christian life: truth, love, and obedience. True Christian love is not built merely on emotions or outward association; it is established upon the truth of God’s Word.

The “elect lady” may represent a godly Christian woman and her household, or symbolically, a faithful local church. Regardless of interpretation, the message remains clear: believers are called to live in truth, raise godly generations, and preserve pure doctrine in a corrupt world.

Truth is under severe attack in every generation. Many compromise biblical standards for popularity, convenience, or worldly acceptance. Yet God still seeks believers who will stand firmly for righteousness without fear or shame. The believer who walks in truth becomes a light in darkness and an example to others.

John also emphasized love. Biblical love is not permissiveness toward sin; it is commitment to God’s commandments. Genuine love corrects, protects, forgives, and guides people toward righteousness. A home without truth collapses into confusion, while truth without love becomes harsh and lifeless. God desires both together.

Parents, guardians, teachers, pastors, and spiritual leaders have a responsibility to teach truth to the next generation. Children who grow without the fear of God often become vulnerable to deception. The elect lady was commended because her children were identified with truth. What a glorious testimony for any family or church.

Today, believers must examine themselves:

  • Are we walking in truth?
  • Do we truly love God?
  • Are our lives reflecting Christ publicly and privately?
  • Are we teaching others the truth of God’s Word?

The Lord calls His people to remain faithful, uncompromising, prayerful, and spiritually discerning until the end.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To know and walk in the truth of God daily.

  2. To build a life established upon God’s Word.

  3. To cultivate genuine Christian love rooted in holiness.

  4. To protect our homes from spiritual deception.

  5. To train children in righteousness and godly character.

  6. To remain faithful to sound doctrine.

  7. To become examples of Christlike living.

  8. To grow in obedience to God’s commandments.

  9. To preserve spiritual integrity in a corrupt world.

  10. To prepare for eternity through faithful living.

  4. They speak truthfully — Ephesians 4:25

Do not harden your heart. Return fully to God today while mercy is still available.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Search your heart honestly before God:

  • Have you neglected prayer and Bible study?
  • Have you tolerated secret sin?
  • Have you compromised biblical truth to please people?

  • Is your life producing godly influence?

God sees beyond outward appearances. He desires purity within the heart.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

I come before You in humility and repentance. Forgive me for every sin, compromise, disobedience, pride, and spiritual negligence. Wash me by the blood of Jesus Christ and cleanse my heart from all unrighteousness. Fill me with Your truth, wisdom, holiness, and love. FINAL EXHORTATION: REMAIN FAITHFUL TO GOD AND FLEE FROM IDOLS

THE WORDS OF TRUTH
DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
FINAL EXHORTATION: REMAIN FAITHFUL TO GOD AND FLEE FROM IDOLS

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.” — 1 John 5:21

KEY VERSES

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true…” — 1 John 5:20

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” — Exodus 20:3

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The book of 1 John concludes with a solemn and loving warning from Apostle John: Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” This final exhortation is not disconnected from the rest of the epistle; rather, it summarizes the entire message of 1 John. Throughout the letter, John repeatedly emphasized true fellowship with God, obedience, love, holiness, truth, eternal life, and steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. He now closes by warning believers against anything that could replace God in their hearts.

The phrase Little children reveals John’s fatherly affection and pastoral concern. He was addressing believers tenderly, urging them to remain spiritually alert. Idolatry is not limited to bowing before carved images. Anything that competes with God for first place in the human heart becomes an idol. Wealth, pride, pleasure, ungodly ambition, sinful relationships, worldly systems, false doctrines, and self-centered living can all become idols when they control a person’s devotion more than God.

The entire message of 1 John calls believers into authentic Christianity. John teaches that genuine believers walk in the light, obey God’s commandments, love one another sincerely, reject false teachings, overcome the world through faith, and remain rooted in Christ. Idolatry threatens every one of these spiritual realities because idols gradually draw the heart away from complete surrender to God.

John understood that the world is full of deception and spiritual distractions. Satan continually seeks to replace devotion to Christ with worldly attachments. This is why believers must “keep” themselves from idols through vigilance, prayer, obedience, and continual fellowship with God. Spiritual negligence opens the door for compromise.

In 1 John 5:20, John reminds believers that Jesus Christ has come to give understanding and eternal life. Since believers know the true God through Christ, they must not return to false substitutes. The Christian life is a call to exclusive loyalty to God. True eternal life is found only in Jesus Christ, not in worldly systems or earthly treasures.

As the final conclusion of 1 John, this warning serves as a lifelong instruction to every believer: remain faithful to God, reject spiritual compromise, and guard your heart carefully until Christ returns. A victorious Christian life is one that continually chooses God above all else.

GUARANTEED ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

THE WORDS OF TRUTH
DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 27th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
GUARANTEED ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” — 1 John 5:20

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The world is filled with countless voices, philosophies, religions, and human ideas promising fulfillment, peace, and immortality. Yet the Word of God settles the matter clearly: eternal life is found only in Jesus Christ. The Apostle John the Apostle boldly declared that Jesus Christ is “the true God, and eternal life.”

Eternal life is not merely living forever; it is knowing God personally through Jesus Christ. Sin separated mankind from God, but through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the bridge between humanity and God was restored. Whoever believes in Christ and abides in Him possesses the assurance of eternal life.

The true God is not discovered through human intelligence, traditions, idols, or worldly wisdom. He is revealed through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. To reject Jesus is to reject eternal life, but to receive Him is to receive divine sonship, peace, salvation, and everlasting fellowship with God.

Many pursue earthly treasures while neglecting their souls. Wealth, fame, education, beauty, and achievements cannot save anyone from eternal judgment. Only Jesus saves. He alone conquered death and grants eternal life freely to all who genuinely repent and believe.

As believers, we must remain steadfast in truth. False doctrines, compromise, lukewarmness, and sinful lifestyles are dangerous distractions from the narrow path that leads to life eternal. Genuine Christianity is not mere church attendance but abiding daily in Christ through obedience, holiness, prayer, faith, and love.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. THE LIFE JACKET IN A STORM

A ship once encountered a terrible storm in the middle of the sea. Passengers panicked as waves crashed violently against the vessel. The captain announced that only those wearing life jackets would survive if the ship sank. Some ignored the warning because they trusted their swimming skills, while others immediately wore the life jackets provided.

Eventually, the ship broke apart. Those who trusted themselves perished, but those who wore the life jackets survived.

  • Jesus Christ is the believer’s spiritual life jacket.
  • Human effort cannot save the soul.
  • Salvation must be personally received.
  • Obedience to God’s warning brings eternal safety.

2. THE LAMP IN THE DARK FOREST

A traveler entered a thick forest at night carrying a bright lamp. Another traveler refused the lamp, insisting he could find his way alone. Soon darkness overwhelmed him, and he became lost among dangerous paths. The traveler with the lamp safely reached his destination.

HYMN

Rock of Ages
Augustus Toplady

MESSAGE

The hymn emphasizes total dependence on Jesus Christ alone for salvation, cleansing, refuge, and eternal security.

1. Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.

2. Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill thy law's demands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.

3. Nothing in my hand I bring,
simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress;
helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die.

4. While I draw this fleeting breath,
when mine eyes shall close in death,
when I soar to worlds unknown,
see thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee.

ABIDING IN THE TRUE GOD THROUGH HIS SON JESUS CHRIST

THE WORDS OF TRUTH
DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
ABIDING IN THE TRUE GOD THROUGH HIS SON JESUS CHRIST

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” — 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The world is filled with false identities, false teachings, false hopes, and false gods. Many people claim to know God, yet reject His Son, Jesus Christ. However, the Scriptures make it clear that true knowledge of God is found only through Jesus Christ. The Son of God came to give humanity spiritual understanding so we can know the True God personally and live in eternal fellowship with Him.

To abide in Jesus Christ means to remain connected to Him daily through faith, obedience, holiness, prayer, and truth. Christianity is not merely religion or church attendance; it is a living relationship with God through His Son. Outside Jesus Christ, there is spiritual darkness, confusion, and eternal separation from God. But in Christ, there is light, truth, peace, salvation, and eternal life.

Jesus Christ is not one of many ways to God; He is the only way. Through His death and resurrection, He reconciled humanity back to the Father. Whoever believes in Him receives forgiveness, spiritual understanding, divine sonship, and eternal hope.

Many believers know about Jesus but do not truly abide in Him. To abide in Christ is to surrender completely to His authority. It means allowing His Word to shape your thoughts, decisions, desires, and lifestyle. When believers remain in Christ, they bear spiritual fruit, overcome temptation, walk in discernment, and grow in intimacy with God.

The apostle John boldly declared that Jesus Christ Himself is “the true God and eternal life.” This reveals the divinity of Christ and the certainty of salvation in Him. The believer must therefore reject compromise, worldly deception, and lukewarmness. Our confidence, identity, future, and eternity must remain rooted in Christ alone.

Today, God is calling His children into deeper fellowship with His Son. This is a season to renew your commitment, reject spiritual distractions, and remain steadfast in the truth of the Gospel. Eternal life is not found in possessions, achievements, titles, or earthly pleasures, it is found only in Jesus Christ.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To know the True God through Jesus Christ.

  2. To develop deeper fellowship with Christ daily.

  3. To walk in spiritual understanding and discernment.

  9. To live with eternity in focus.

  10. To proclaim Jesus Christ as the only source of eternal life.

  • Spiritual dryness begins when fellowship with Christ is neglected.
  • Continuous abiding produces lasting fruitfulness.

Eternal life is found only in Christ. Do not harden your heart against His voice.

DEEP REPENTANCE

HYMN

Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross
Fanny J. Crosby (1869)

Message:

This hymn emphasizes continual dependence upon Jesus Christ, His sacrifice, grace, and the believer’s hope of eternal life through Him.

1. Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain;
Free to all, a healing stream,
Flows from Calv'ry's mountain.

Refrain:

In the cross, in the cross
Be my glory ever,
Till my ransomed soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

2. Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the Bright and Morning Star
Shed His beams around me.

3. Near the cross! O lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day
With its shadow o'er me.

4. Near the cross! I'll watch and wait,
Hoping, trusting ever;
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.

ABIDING IN THE TRUE GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

THE WORDS OF TRUTH
DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 25th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
ABIDING IN THE TRUE GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” — 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The greatest revelation a man can ever receive is not merely the knowledge of religion, but the knowledge of the True God through Jesus Christ. The world is filled with deception, false identities, counterfeit spirituality, and empty philosophies, but the believer has been given divine understanding through Christ Jesus to know Him who is true.

The Scripture declares that “the Son of God is come.” This means Jesus Christ is not a myth, not a mere prophet, and not a religious symbol. He is the manifestation of God’s love and truth to humanity. Through His coming, death, resurrection, and eternal reign, believers are brought into a living relationship with God.

The phrase “and hath given us an understanding” reveals that spiritual understanding is a gift from God. Human intelligence alone cannot fully comprehend God. Many are educated but spiritually blind. It takes divine illumination by the Holy Spirit to recognize Jesus as the Son of God and to walk in truth.

To be “in Him who is true” means:

  • To live in Christ,
  • To walk in obedience,
  • To remain faithful to His Word,
  • To separate from sin and falsehood,
  • To depend completely on Him for life and salvation.

The world celebrates independence from God, but true life is found only in dependence upon Christ. Outside Him there is confusion, emptiness, fear, and eternal separation from God. In Him there is truth, peace, righteousness, power, and eternal life.

Believers must therefore guard themselves against compromise. Many know about God, but not many truly abide in Him. Christianity is not merely attending church or speaking religious words; it is living daily in union with Christ.

Jesus Christ is called “the true God, and eternal life.” Eternal life is not only about life after death; it is the present experience of fellowship with God. When Christ dwells in a man, darkness loses its hold, truth overcomes deception, and eternity becomes a living reality.

Today, God is calling His children to remain steadfast in Him who is true. The storms of this generation cannot destroy the believer who abides in Christ. False doctrines may increase, but the truth of God remains forever.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To know Jesus Christ as the True God.

  2. To abide continually in Christ.

  3. To receive spiritual understanding from God.

  4. To walk daily in truth and holiness.

  5. To separate from deception and sin.

  6. To grow in intimacy with God.

  7. To reflect Christ in character and conduct.

  8. To remain steadfast in faith until the end.

  9. To pursue eternal life above worldly pleasures.

  10. To become a witness of God’s truth to others.

BIBLICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO ARE IN HIM

  1. They walk in obedience to God’s Word — John 14:15

  2. They love righteousness and hate sin — Psalms 97:10

  3. They bear spiritual fruit — Galatians 5:22-23

  4. They remain faithful during trials — James 1:12

  5. They possess discernment — Hebrews 5:14

  6. They love fellow believers — 1 John 4:7

  7. They live by faith — Romans 1:17

  8. They hunger for God’s presence — Psalms 42:1

  9. They overcome the world — 1 John 5:4

  10. They keep their hope fixed on eternity — Colossians 3:1-2

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Branch Connected to the Vine

A branch may appear fresh for a short time after being cut from the vine, but eventually it dries up because it has lost its source of life. Likewise, any believer disconnected from Christ may still appear religious outwardly, but spiritual dryness will eventually appear.

Lessons

  • Christ is the source of spiritual life.
  • Disconnection from God leads to spiritual decay.
  • Continuous fellowship with God sustains believers.

2. The Lighthouse in the Storm

A ship caught in a violent storm depends on the lighthouse to avoid destruction. Without that guiding light, disaster is inevitable. Jesus Christ is the believer’s eternal lighthouse in a dark and deceptive world.

Lessons

  • Christ is the unfailing guide for life.
  • God’s truth prevents spiritual destruction.
  • Those who follow Christ will not walk in darkness.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

God is calling every wandering soul back to Himself. Perhaps you have drifted from truth, embraced compromise, or allowed worldly desires to replace intimacy with Christ. Today is the day to return. The True God still extends mercy to all who sincerely repent.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Search your heart honestly before God:

  • Have you truly remained in Christ?
  • Are you living in obedience or hidden rebellion?
  • Have worldly distractions weakened your relationship with God?
  • Is your Christianity genuine or merely outward appearance?

The Lord desires truth in the inward parts. Genuine repentance opens the door to restoration and renewed fellowship with God.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come before You in humility and sincerity. Forgive me for every sin, compromise, and act of disobedience. Wash me in the blood of Jesus Christ. Remove every deception and spiritual blindness from my life. Draw me closer to You and help me to abide continually in Christ. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and establish me firmly in Your truth. Let my life reflect Your holiness and eternal purpose. Thank You for Your mercy and salvation.

HYMN

Trust and Obey
John Henry Sammis (lyrics) and Daniel Brink Towner (music)

Message:

This hymn emphasizes complete surrender, obedience, and abiding faith in Christ; the very essence of remaining in Him who is true.

1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
