ABIDING IN THE TRUE GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

ABIDING IN THE TRUE GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” — 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The greatest revelation a man can ever receive is not merely the knowledge of religion, but the knowledge of the True God through Jesus Christ. The world is filled with deception, false identities, counterfeit spirituality, and empty philosophies, but the believer has been given divine understanding through Christ Jesus to know Him who is true.

The Scripture declares that “the Son of God is come.” This means Jesus Christ is not a myth, not a mere prophet, and not a religious symbol. He is the manifestation of God’s love and truth to humanity. Through His coming, death, resurrection, and eternal reign, believers are brought into a living relationship with God.

The phrase “and hath given us an understanding” reveals that spiritual understanding is a gift from God. Human intelligence alone cannot fully comprehend God. Many are educated but spiritually blind. It takes divine illumination by the Holy Spirit to recognize Jesus as the Son of God and to walk in truth.

To be “in Him who is true” means:

  • To live in Christ,
  • To walk in obedience,
  • To remain faithful to His Word,
  • To separate from sin and falsehood,
  • To depend completely on Him for life and salvation.

The world celebrates independence from God, but true life is found only in dependence upon Christ. Outside Him there is confusion, emptiness, fear, and eternal separation from God. In Him there is truth, peace, righteousness, power, and eternal life.

Believers must therefore guard themselves against compromise. Many know about God, but not many truly abide in Him. Christianity is not merely attending church or speaking religious words; it is living daily in union with Christ.

Jesus Christ is called “the true God, and eternal life.” Eternal life is not only about life after death; it is the present experience of fellowship with God. When Christ dwells in a man, darkness loses its hold, truth overcomes deception, and eternity becomes a living reality.

Today, God is calling His children to remain steadfast in Him who is true. The storms of this generation cannot destroy the believer who abides in Christ. False doctrines may increase, but the truth of God remains forever.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To know Jesus Christ as the True God.

  2. To abide continually in Christ.

  3. To receive spiritual understanding from God.

  7. To reflect Christ in character and conduct.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Branch Connected to the Vine

A branch may appear fresh for a short time after being cut from the vine, but eventually it dries up because it has lost its source of life. Likewise, any believer disconnected from Christ may still appear religious outwardly, but spiritual dryness will eventually appear.

Lessons

  • Christ is the source of spiritual life.
  • Disconnection from God leads to spiritual decay.
  • Continuous fellowship with God sustains believers.

2. The Lighthouse in the Storm

A ship caught in a violent storm depends on the lighthouse to avoid destruction. Without that guiding light, disaster is inevitable. Jesus Christ is the believer’s eternal lighthouse in a dark and deceptive world.

Lessons

  • Christ is the unfailing guide for life.
  • God’s truth prevents spiritual destruction.
  • Those who follow Christ will not walk in darkness.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

God is calling every wandering soul back to Himself. Perhaps you have drifted from truth, embraced compromise, or allowed worldly desires to replace intimacy with Christ. Today is the day to return. The True God still extends mercy to all who sincerely repent.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Search your heart honestly before God:

  • Have you truly remained in Christ?
  • Are you living in obedience or hidden rebellion?
  • Have worldly distractions weakened your relationship with God?
  • Is your Christianity genuine or merely outward appearance?

The Lord desires truth in the inward parts. Genuine repentance opens the door to restoration and renewed fellowship with God.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come before You in humility and sincerity. Forgive me for every sin, compromise, and act of disobedience. Wash me in the blood of Jesus Christ. Remove every deception and spiritual blindness from my life. Draw me closer to You and help me to abide continually in Christ. Fill me with the Holy Spirit and establish me firmly in Your truth. Let my life reflect Your holiness and eternal purpose. Thank You for Your mercy and salvation.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

HYMN

Trust and Obey
John Henry Sammis (lyrics) and Daniel Brink Towner (music)

Message:

This hymn emphasizes complete surrender, obedience, and abiding faith in Christ; the very essence of remaining in Him who is true.

1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.

KNOWING THE ONLY TRUE GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

KNOWING THE ONLY TRUE GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” — 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The greatest discovery in life is not wealth, fame, power, education, or earthly achievement; it is the true knowledge of God through Jesus Christ. Many people know about religion, church activities, traditions, and spiritual practices, yet they do not truly know God personally. The Apostle John declared with confidence that Jesus Christ came to give humanity understanding so that we may know “Him who is true.”

To know God is deeper than intellectual awareness. It is a living relationship with the Creator through His Son, Jesus Christ. Eternal life begins when a person genuinely encounters Christ and walks in fellowship with Him. Jesus Himself declared in John 17:3: “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”

The world is filled with falsehood, deception, counterfeit spirituality, and empty philosophies. Many worship gods made by human imagination, wealth, pleasure, self, fame, or demonic influence. But Jesus Christ reveals the true nature of God; holy, loving, righteous, merciful, faithful, and eternal. Outside Christ, humanity walks in darkness. Through Christ, the eyes of understanding are opened.

Knowing the true God transforms character, priorities, desires, and eternal destiny. A person who truly knows God will hate sin, pursue holiness, love righteousness, forgive others, walk in humility, and live for eternity rather than temporary worldly pleasures. The knowledge of God produces spiritual discernment and stability in difficult times.

Believers must therefore move beyond shallow Christianity into deep intimacy with God through prayer, obedience, study of Scripture, worship, and daily surrender to Christ. God does not merely want people who know church language; He desires sons and daughters who know His heart.

The question today is not merely: “Do you attend church?” but rather: “Do you truly know Him who is true?” The tragedy of many lives is that they know many things but do not know God. One genuine encounter with Jesus changes eternity forever.

May the Lord open our understanding continually to know Him more deeply, walk in His truth faithfully, and remain in Him until the end.

UNDERSTANDING THE TRUE GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

THE WORDS OF TRUTH
DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 23rd, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
UNDERSTANDING THE TRUE GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.” — 1 John 5:20 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The greatest gift God gives after salvation is spiritual understanding. Many people possess earthly wisdom, academic knowledge, financial intelligence, and human philosophies, yet remain spiritually blind concerning the true knowledge of God. The coming of Jesus Christ was not only to save humanity from sin, but also to open the eyes of mankind to divine truth and eternal realities.

The Apostle John boldly declared that the Son of God has come and has given believers understanding. This understanding is not ordinary reasoning; it is spiritual illumination produced by the Holy Spirit. It enables believers to know God personally, discern truth from error, recognize deception, understand the Scriptures, walk in righteousness, and live with eternity in view.

Without divine understanding, people can attend church and still not know God. They may practice religion yet remain far from the truth. Spiritual understanding brings intimacy with God and establishes believers firmly in Christ. Jesus Christ reveals the Father perfectly because He is the true God and eternal life.

In a world filled with confusion, false doctrines, material distractions, and spiritual darkness, believers must seek deeper revelation through prayer, obedience, meditation on Scripture, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Divine understanding protects believers from deception and strengthens their faith during trials.

The understanding Christ gives transforms character, renews the mind, produces holiness, and empowers believers to fulfill God’s purpose. It also prepares believers for eternity because true understanding always leads to godly living.

Therefore, every believer must continually pray for spiritual insight. It is dangerous to live by emotions, assumptions, traditions, or worldly opinions. Only the light of Christ can guide humanity into truth and everlasting life.

open my ears, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

3. Open my mouth, and let me bear
gladly the warm truth ev’rywhere;

THE REVELATION OF CHRIST: KNOWING THE TRUE GOD THROUGH THE SON

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 22nd, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE REVELATION OF CHRIST: KNOWING THE TRUE GOD THROUGH THE SON

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:

“And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.” - 1 John 5:20

KEY VERSE

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” - John 17:3

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The coming of the Son of God is the greatest revelation ever given to humanity. Humanity wandered in darkness, deception, sin, and separation from God until the appearance of Jesus Christ. Through Him, mankind received divine understanding, access to truth, and the gift of eternal life.

The Apostle John boldly declared, “And we know…” This statement is not based on assumption, religion, philosophy, or emotion. It is founded upon divine certainty. The believer’s faith rests upon the finished work, resurrection, and eternal reality of Jesus Christ.

Jesus did not merely come to establish a religion; He came to reveal the Father. Before Christ came, many people worshipped blindly, pursued empty traditions, and trusted human wisdom. But Christ opened the eyes of humanity to know the true God.

The world today is filled with confusion, false doctrines, counterfeit spirituality, and moral darkness. Many know about God intellectually but do not truly know Him personally. The Son of God came so that we may receive understanding through the Holy Spirit and walk in truth.

To know Christ is to possess eternal life. Eternal life is not only about heaven after death; it begins the moment a person genuinely encounters Jesus Christ. The believer becomes united with God through Christ and is transformed into a new creation.

This scripture also reminds believers that certainty is possible in Christ. We can know the truth. We can know God personally. We can walk in assurance of salvation. We can overcome deception because the Son of God has come.

The question every soul must answer is this: Have you truly encountered the Son of God, or are you merely familiar with religious activities? Christianity is not merely church attendance; it is living fellowship with Jesus Christ, the true God and eternal life.

The coming of Jesus demands repentance, surrender, holiness, obedience, and steadfast faith. Those who reject Him reject eternal life, but those who receive Him become children of God and heirs of His everlasting kingdom.

My Faith Looks Up to Thee
Ray Palmer (1830)

Message:

This hymn expresses complete dependence upon Christ, devotion to God, and trust in Jesus as Savior and eternal hope.

1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
take all my guilt away;
O let me from this day
be wholly Thine.

2. May Thy rich grace impart
strength to my fainting heart,
my zeal inspire;
as Thou hast died for me,
O may my love to Thee
pure, warm, and changeless be,
a living fire.

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
and griefs around me spread,
be Thou my Guide;
bid darkness turn to day,
wipe sorrow’s tears away,
nor let me ever stray
from Thee aside.

4. When ends life's transient dream,
when death’s cold, sullen stream
shall o'er me roll,
blest Savior, then in love,
fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
a ransomed soul.

STANDING FIRM IN A WORLD UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE WICKED ONE

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 21st, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
STANDING FIRM IN A WORLD UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE WICKED ONE

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:

“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” — 1 John 5:19 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The world today is filled with corruption, deception, immorality, pride, violence, rebellion against God, and spiritual blindness. The systems of the world often celebrate sin while rejecting righteousness. According to the Apostle John in 1 John 5:19, the whole world lies under the sway, influence, and control of the wicked one; Satan.

This does not mean that Satan has greater power than God. Rather, it means that many people who reject God unknowingly follow the patterns, values, and temptations promoted by the enemy. Satan manipulates minds, corrupts truth, destroys destinies, and blinds hearts from the light of the Gospel.

Yet, believers are called to live differently. We are “of God.” We are redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ and called out of darkness into His marvelous light. A child of God must not follow worldly systems that oppose God’s truth. We must refuse compromise, ungodly influence, sinful entertainment, corruption, bitterness, sexual immorality, dishonesty, hatred, occultism, greed, and rebellion.

The devil seeks to normalize evil and make righteousness appear outdated. But the Word of God remains eternal and unchanging. God still calls His people to holiness, obedience, prayer, purity, and unwavering faith.

Believers must stay spiritually alert because the enemy works subtly. He uses distractions, false doctrines, peer pressure, fear, pride, and worldly pleasures to pull people away from God. The only way to overcome is through a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, continual prayer, studying the Scriptures, and living by the Holy Spirit.

No matter how dark the world becomes, the light of Christ still shines. God preserves those who trust in Him. You are not called to blend with darkness but to shine as light in the midst of a crooked generation.

Choose daily to stand for truth even when the world opposes it. God honors those who remain faithful to Him.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand that the world system is heavily influenced by Satan.

  2. To recognize the importance of living separately from sinful practices.

2. THE CONTAMINATED WATER

LIVING AS GOD’S OWN IN A CORRUPT WORLD

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 20th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
LIVING AS GOD’S OWN IN A CORRUPT WORLD

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” - 1 John 5:19

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The greatest identity a person can possess is to belong to God. In a world controlled by sin, deception, rebellion, immorality, hatred, pride, and spiritual darkness, the believer stands as God’s redeemed possession. The Apostle John boldly declared, We know that we are of God.” This is not a statement of doubt, assumption, or religion; it is a statement of divine assurance.

To be “of God” means to be born again through faith in Jesus Christ, separated from the power of darkness, and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. Salvation is not merely church attendance or religious activity. It is a spiritual transformation produced by the Holy Spirit. When a person genuinely encounters Christ, old things pass away and all things become new.

The second part of the verse reveals a painful reality: the whole world lieth in wickedness. The systems of this world are largely governed by sinful desires, satanic influence, ungodly philosophies, and rebellion against God. Many people celebrate evil, resist truth, and reject holiness. Darkness is increasing in many places because people have abandoned the fear of God.

Yet believers are called to shine as lights in darkness. God did not save His children to blend with corruption but to reveal His nature on earth. Christians must not allow worldly culture to redefine holiness, truth, righteousness, purity, humility, or obedience.

To know that we are of God should produce confidence, separation from sin, spiritual boldness, and eternal focus. A child of God must daily examine his life:

  • Do my actions reflect Christ?
  • Is my life different from the world?
  • Am I walking in obedience to God’s Word?
  • Is eternity my priority?

Being of God means living under God’s authority, walking in holiness, loving righteousness, and resisting compromise. Though the world grows darker, God’s people must grow brighter.

The believer must never forget that heaven is real, eternity is certain, and Jesus Christ is coming again. Those who truly belong to God must remain faithful until the end.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the believer’s identity in Christ.

  2. To recognize the spiritual condition of the world.

  3. To encourage holy living among believers.

  5. To inspire separation from worldly corruption.

  6. To awaken spiritual vigilance and discernment.

  7. To encourage steadfastness in faith.

  8. To promote obedience to God’s Word.

  9. To prepare believers for eternity.

  10. To motivate believers to shine as lights in darkness.
