THE NEW BIRTH PRODUCES A HOLY LIFE

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE NEW BIRTH PRODUCES A HOLY LIFE

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.”1 John 5:18 (KJV)

KEY VERSE

“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”2 Corinthians 5:17

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The new birth is not merely a religious experience; it is a divine transformation. When a person is genuinely born of God through faith in Jesus Christ, the nature of God begins to operate in that person. The apostle John boldly declared that whoever is born of God does not continue living in habitual sin. This means that the true child of God no longer finds comfort, pleasure, or identity in sin.

Salvation changes the heart. Before salvation, sin controls a person’s desires, thoughts, and actions. But after salvation, the Holy Spirit begins the work of sanctification, producing righteousness, purity, obedience, and hatred for evil. A born-again believer may fall into weakness, but such a believer will not remain comfortably in sin because the Spirit of God convicts, corrects, and restores.

The statement “the wicked one toucheth him not” reveals the protection and preservation available to those who abide in Christ. Satan seeks to destroy lives through temptation, compromise, addiction, immorality, pride, bitterness, and rebellion. However, the believer who walks in holiness, prayer, and obedience enjoys victory through Christ Jesus.

Holiness is not self-righteousness. It is the evidence that Christ truly lives within us. A holy life glorifies God, influences others positively, and prepares believers for eternity. The grace of God is not a license to sin; rather, it empowers believers to overcome sin.

Many people profess Christianity outwardly but secretly practice ungodliness. God is calling His children back to purity, truth, repentance, and sincere devotion. The world must see Christ reflected in our words, character, relationships, decisions, and conduct.

Today, examine your heart sincerely. Are there hidden sins, secret compromises, unforgiveness, immoral habits, pride, dishonesty, or spiritual laziness? God desires genuine repentance and total surrender. The power to live holy comes through daily fellowship with Christ, consistent prayer, meditation on God’s Word, and yielding to the Holy Spirit.

The new birth must produce a transformed life.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. THE WHITE GARMENT

A king gave his servants pure white garments and instructed them to keep the garments clean until his return. Some servants became careless and stained their garments with mud and dirt, while others guarded theirs carefully. When the king returned, only those with clean garments were welcomed into the palace celebration.

Lessons:

  • Salvation must be preserved with holy living.
  • Sin stains spiritual garments.
  • Christ is coming for a pure and prepared people.

2. THE BRIGHT LANTERN

A lantern shines brightly only when its glass remains clean. Once covered with soot and dirt, its light becomes dim. Likewise, sin dims the spiritual light of believers.

Lessons:

  • Sin weakens spiritual effectiveness.
  • Holiness keeps the believer spiritually bright.
  • The world needs believers who reflect Christ clearly.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, God is calling you today to sincere repentance. Do not hide behind religion while living contrary to God’s will. The Lord sees every secret thought, action, and motive. Return to Him wholeheartedly. Forsake every sinful habit, compromise, bitterness, immorality, deception, pride, and rebellion. Jesus still saves, cleanses, restores, and transforms lives completely.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Ask the Holy Spirit to search every hidden corner of your life. Genuine repentance is not mere emotion; it is a deliberate turning away from sin and total surrender to God. Let your heart break over anything that displeases God. Choose holiness daily and seek grace to remain faithful until the end.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come before You in humility and sincerity. I confess every sin knowingly and unknowingly committed. Wash me thoroughly with the blood of Jesus Christ. Remove every sinful habit, worldly desire, pride, disobedience, bitterness, and impurity from my life. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Help me to walk in holiness, obedience, and truth daily. Let the power of the Holy Spirit strengthen me against temptation and preserve me blameless until the coming of Christ. Thank You for Your mercy, forgiveness, and salvation.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

HYMN

Take My Life, and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)

1. Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.

2. Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for thee,
swift and beautiful for thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne,
it shall be thy royal throne.

6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee,
ever, only, all for thee.
