𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THE NEW BIRTH DEMANDS A HOLY WALK
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE
“We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” - 1 John 5:18
INTRODUCTION
1 John 5:18
“...he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.”
This scripture reveals that genuine salvation produces a transformed life. A believer who is truly born again does not continue comfortably in sin. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, he watches over his life, guards his heart, resists temptation, and separates himself from evil. The grace of God does not encourage careless living; it empowers righteous living.
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
The new birth is not merely a religious experience; it is a spiritual transformation. When a person becomes born again through faith in Jesus Christ, the nature of God is planted within him. This divine nature changes desires, thoughts, speech, and conduct.
The statement, “he who has been born of God keeps himself,” teaches personal spiritual responsibility. Although salvation comes by grace, believers are commanded to guard their hearts, resist sin, avoid worldly corruption, and remain spiritually alert. A careless believer opens doors to temptation, spiritual weakness, and attacks from the enemy.
Keeping oneself involves:
- Daily prayer
- Obedience to God’s Word
- Avoiding sinful associations
- Walking in holiness
- Living under the control of the Holy Spirit
- Maintaining purity in thoughts and actions
The devil constantly seeks opportunities to destroy destinies, but a believer who abides in Christ enjoys divine protection and victory. Holiness is not bondage; holiness is safety. Purity preserves spiritual authority.
Many people claim to know God, yet their lifestyle denies Him. True Christianity is not in outward appearance alone but in inward transformation. The evidence of salvation is a changed life.
God is calling believers back to genuine holiness, discipline, righteousness, and spiritual watchfulness. The world may celebrate compromise, but Heaven honors purity.

ILLUSTRATIONS
1. THE GUARDED CITY
A city without walls in ancient times was vulnerable to enemies, thieves, and destruction. Likewise, a believer without spiritual discipline becomes exposed to temptation and attacks.
Lessons
- Spiritual carelessness invites danger.
- Prayer and holiness are spiritual walls.
- A guarded life enjoys peace and protection.
2. THE CLEAN GARMENT
A person wearing a white garment avoids dirty places to preserve its cleanliness. In the same way, believers must avoid sinful environments that contaminate the soul.
Lessons
- Purity requires intentional separation from evil.
- Holy living demands caution and wisdom.
- Spiritual stains weaken fellowship with God.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
God is calling His people away from compromise, secret sins, bitterness, immorality, pride, and hypocrisy. The Lord desires truth in the inward parts. Today is the day to return wholeheartedly to Him.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Search your heart sincerely:
- Are there hidden sins you still defend?
- Have worldly pleasures weakened your spiritual hunger?
- Are your thoughts, words, and habits pleasing to God?
- Is your Christian life genuine both publicly and privately?
The Holy Spirit convicts not to condemn but to restore.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Heavenly Father,
I come before You in humility and sincerity. Forgive every sin in my life. Wash me thoroughly by the blood of Jesus Christ. Purify my heart, renew my mind, and restore my passion for holiness. Deliver me from every secret sin and spiritual weakness. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit and help me to walk in righteousness daily. Let my life reflect Your nature and glory. Thank You for Your mercy and salvation. Amen.

HYMN
Take My Life, and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)
Message: This hymn expresses complete surrender, holiness, dedication, and a desire to live fully for God.
1. Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.
2. Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for thee,
swift and beautiful for thee.
3. Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.
4. Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.
5. Take my will and make it thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne,
it shall be thy royal throne.
6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee,
ever, only, all for thee.
