THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Dec 22nd, 2025
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
YOU KNOW THAT NO MURDERER HAS ETERNAL LIFE RESIDING IN HIM!
(A call to heart-examination, repentance, and restored love)
KEY VERSE
“Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.”
— 1 John 3:15 (NIV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
This statement from Scripture is sobering and confrontational.
John is not merely speaking about physical murder, but heart murder, hatred, bitterness, malice, unforgiveness, and sustained anger that destroys love.
Jesus Himself raised the standard when He said:
“Anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment.” (Matthew 5:22)
Eternal life is not only about a future destination; it is a present reality that dwells within a believer.
Where eternal life resides, the nature of Christ, love, must reign.
When hatred dominates the heart, it drives out the life of God, replacing it with darkness.
This message calls us to confront:
- Hidden hatred
- Silent resentment
- Unforgiveness masked as “distance”
- Justified bitterness
A heart that harbors hatred cannot host eternal life simultaneously.
BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF THIS MESSAGE
- To reveal God’s definition of murder beyond physical violence
- To expose hidden hatred as spiritual death
- To call believers to examine their hearts honestly
- To restore love as evidence of eternal life
- To uproot bitterness, anger, and malice
- To align believers with Christ’s nature
- To preserve fellowship with God and others
- To prevent self-deception in the Christian walk
- To awaken repentance that leads to healing
- To prepare hearts for eternity

ILLUSTRATIONS
1. The Poisoned Cup
A man drank poison daily but insisted he was healthy because he never collapsed.
Over time, the poison weakened his organs until sudden death occurred.
Lesson:
Hatred is a slow poison.
You may function outwardly, but inwardly it destroys spiritual life.
2. The Darkened Room
A house with one closed window slowly became dark and moldy, even though the sun was shining outside.
Lesson:
When love is shut out, eternal life cannot illuminate the heart.
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Beloved, this is not a message for “others.”
This is a mirror.
- Whom have you refused to forgive?
- Who angers you when their name is mentioned?
- Where have you justified hatred as wisdom or self-protection?
God is calling you out of darkness into life.
DEEP REPENTANCE
This is not surface sorrow.
This is heart-breaking honesty before God:
Expose what I’ve hidden.
I don’t want religion without life.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Father God,
I come before You without excuses.
I confess that I have harbored anger, resentment, and unforgiveness in my heart.
Your Word says that hatred is murder, and I tremble before this truth.
Cleanse my heart.
Remove every root of bitterness.
Restore Your life and love within me.
I choose light.
I choose eternal life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Summary:
HYMN
Just As I Am
Charlotte Elliott (1835)
1. Just as I am, without one plea,
but that Thy blood was shed for me,
and that Thou bidd'st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
2. Just as I am, and waiting not
to rid my soul of one dark blot,
to Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
3. Just as I am, though tossed about
with many a conflict, many a doubt,
fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
4. Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE
Before the day ends:
- Identify one person you resent.
- Pray for them by name.

Eternal life is not only promised, it must be manifested.
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
God does not expose to condemn, He exposes to heal.
Love can be restored.

ETERNITY IN VIEW
