WE TOO!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Dec 25th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE TOO!

If He Laid Down His Life for Us…

KEY VERSE

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
1 John 3:16

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Christianity is not merely a confession; it is a participation in Christ’s life.

The cross was not only an event to admire but a pattern to follow.

Jesus did not love us from a distance, He loved us to death.

The phrase we too is heaven’s invitation into the lifestyle of sacrificial love.

To say “we too” means:

The cross does not only save us; it reshapes us.

  4. To destroy selfish Christianity (Philippians 2:4)
  5. To produce living witnesses, not spectators (Acts 1:8)

  7. To build unity in the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:2–3)
  8. To prepare believers for persecution (2 Timothy 3:12)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Soldier Who Covered the Grenade

A soldier, seeing a grenade land among his comrades, throws himself on it.

He dies, but many live.

Lesson:

Love is proven not by words but by willing sacrifice

Christ did this once for all, we are called to do it daily.

2. The Candle That Lit Others

A candle loses nothing by lighting other candles, yet it eventually melts away.

Lesson:

A life poured out for others is not wasted, it is multiplied.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Many profess Christ but resist the cross.

We love selectively, serve conveniently, and sacrifice minimally.

The Spirit calls us back from comfortable Christianity to crucified living.

“If anyone says he loves God and hates his brother, he is a liar.” – 1 John 4:20

DEEP REPENTANCE

Repent not only of sins, but of:

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Father,

I repent of living for myself while claiming Your name.

I confess my love has often been shallow and conditional.

Cleanse my heart from selfish ambition and fear.

Teach me the way of the cross.

As You laid down Your life for me,

I choose, by Your grace, to say “we too.”

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN

When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
Isaac Watts (1707)

1. When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.
2. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
save in the death of Christ, my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them through his blood.
3. See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?
4. Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Today, intentionally:

Let love cost you something.

DEEP REFLECTION

If Christ loved you the way you love others, would you still be saved?

WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

You are not called to do this in your strength.

The same grace that held Jesus on the cross
now empowers you to live crucified and victorious.

ETERNITY IN VIEW

Earth remembers achievers.

Heaven crowns sacrificers.

Well done” is spoken to those who poured themselves out.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I declare:

Because Christ laid down His life for me,

I too will live for Him and for others.

I am crucified with Christ.

Love reigns in me.

Self no longer rules me.

In Jesus’ name!

Amen.
