BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
KEY VERSE
“Therefore, brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do.”
— Romans 8:12 (NLT)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
When Scripture addresses us as “Brothers and Sisters,” it is not a casual greeting, it is a spiritual declaration of identity.
In Christ, we are no longer strangers, competitors, or isolated individuals; we are members of one family, born of the same Spirit, redeemed by the same blood, and headed toward the same eternal home.
The New Testament writers repeatedly use this phrase to remind believers of unity, responsibility, mutual love, correction, perseverance, and shared destiny.
It is a call to live above selfishness and division, recognizing that our faith journey is communal, not solitary.
To be called “brothers and sisters” means:
- We belong to one Father
- We are accountable to one another
- We must love beyond convenience
- We suffer together
- We rejoice together
- We will stand together before Christ
This truth reshapes how we treat fellow believers, how we endure trials, and how we view eternity.
BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES OF “BROTHERS AND SISTERS”
- To establish spiritual family – God replaces isolation with belonging (Ephesians 2:19).

- To restore the fallen gently – Restoration is a family responsibility (Galatians 6:1).
- To share spiritual inheritance – We are co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17).
- To prepare us for eternity together – Heaven is a family gathering (Revelation 7:9).

1. Children of One Roof
In a home, siblings may differ in age, personality, and gifts, but they share the same parents, name, and inheritance.
When danger comes, they stand together.
Lesson:
In Christ, unity is stronger than diversity.
2. The Bundle of Sticks
A single stick breaks easily, but a bundle bound together is nearly impossible to snap.
Lesson:
The enemy targets isolated believers.

HYMN
Blest Be the Tie That Binds
John Fawcett (1782)
1. Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above.
2. Before our Father's throne
we pour our ardent prayers;
our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
our comforts and our cares.
3. We share our mutual woes,
our mutual burdens bear,
and often for each other flows
the sympathizing tear.
4. When we are called to part,
it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still be joined in heart,
and hope to meet again.
5. This glorious hope revives
our courage by the way;
while each in expectation lives
and waits to see the day.
6. From sorrow, toil, and pain,
and sin, we shall be free;
and perfect love and friendship reign
through all eternity.
