JUST AS HE IS RIGHTEOUS!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
JUST AS HE IS RIGHTEOUS!

(1 John 3:7)

KEY VERSE

“Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.”1 John 3:7 (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

God is not only righteous, He is the standard and definition of righteousness.

The righteousness of Christ is flawless, eternal, pure, and unchanging.

When Scripture says we are to be righteous just as He is righteous, it means that through Christ’s sacrifice and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, believers are called, empowered, and expected to reflect His character.

This righteousness is not self-made, for our righteousness is like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6).

It flows from:

To be righteous as He is righteous is to allow Christ to shape our thoughts, words, desires, behaviors, and decisions until we look like Him.

It is a journey of daily surrender.

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. THE CLEAN WATER JAR

A villager had two jars: one clean and one dirty.

When he fetched water, the clean jar preserved it, but the dirty jar polluted it.

He learned that no matter how pure the water was, the container determined the outcome.

Lesson:

Christ has given us His righteousness, but we must keep our “vessel” clean through obedience. Righteousness is both a gift and a walk.

2. THE MIRROR AND THE LIGHT

A man placed a small mirror in a dark corner of his house.

It reflected nothing.

But when he placed it near the window, it brightened the whole room.

Lesson:

You can only reflect Christ’s righteousness when you stay near Him.

Distance from Him dims your spiritual reflection.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you allowed compromise, sin, bitterness, pride, or disobedience to cloud your righteousness?

Have you been satisfied with religious activity instead of righteous living?

Today, the Spirit calls you back to a walk that reflects Christ.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Say:

Lord, I acknowledge where I have been careless with Your righteousness.

I turn from every hidden sin, from every compromise and worldly pattern.

Restore in me a clean heart.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Father,

I come humbly before You.

Cleanse me from every unrighteous thought, action, or desire.

Wash me in the blood of Jesus.

Restore within me a hunger for holiness.

Help me walk in righteousness just as Christ is righteous.

I surrender my will to Yours.

Make me a true reflection of Your purity and truth.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

HYMN

Take My Life and Let It Be
Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)

1. Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.

2. Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for Thee,
swift and beautiful for Thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filled with messages from thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it Thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is Thine own;
it shall be Thy royal throne,
it shall be Thy royal throne.

6. Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for Thee,
ever, only, all for Thee.
