THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Oct 21st, 2025
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
THIS IS THE PROMISE THAT HE HAS PROMISED US — ETERNAL LIFE
KEY VERSE
“And this is the promise that He hath promised us, even eternal life.” — 1 John 2:25 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Eternal life is not a distant dream or a mere religious concept, it is the very heartbeat of the Christian faith.
It is God’s ultimate promise to all who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Eternal life begins not after death, but the very moment a person receives Jesus as Lord and Savior.
It is the life of God imparted to man, a life that transcends time, decay, and death.
In this world, promises are often broken, but God’s promises are everlasting and sure.
He has promised us something far greater than riches, power, or fame, He has promised us Himself.
Eternal life is fellowship with the Father, union with Christ, and communion with the Holy Spirit that continues forever.
To live for eternal life means to live with eternity in view.
It changes our values, our desires, and our purpose.
It calls us to walk in righteousness, love, and obedience, knowing that our citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20).
CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE
- Faith in Christ – “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life.” — John 3:36
- Obedience to God’s Word – “If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love.” — John 15:10
- Love for Others – “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren.” — 1 John 3:14
- Righteous Living – “To those who seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give eternal life.” — Romans 2:7
- Perseverance in Faith – “Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.” — Revelation 2:10
- Spiritual Renewal – “Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are renewed day by day.” — 2 Corinthians 4:16
- Hope in Christ Alone – “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” — Colossians 1:27
ILLUSTRATIONS
1. The King’s Invitation
A humble farmer once received an invitation from a great king to live in his royal palace.
The farmer, doubting its authenticity, ignored it.
Years later, he learned the invitation was real, but it was too late, the king had already chosen others.
Lesson: God’s invitation to eternal life is genuine and open to all.
Rejecting it through unbelief or delay is the greatest tragedy of all time.
2. The Two Seeds
Two seeds were planted side by side.
One stayed on the surface, afraid to die.
The other allowed itself to be buried.
Soon, the buried seed sprouted into a beautiful tree, while the other remained lifeless.
Lesson: Eternal life begins when we die to self and allow God’s life to take root in us (John 12:24).
CALL TO REPENTANCE
Have you received the gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus?
Are you living with eternity in mind, or have the pleasures of the world distracted you from the promise?
Jesus still calls:
Come unto Me, and I will give you rest.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Lord, I repent for chasing temporary pleasures over eternal purpose.
I confess that I have sometimes lived like this world is my home.
Forgive me for neglecting the salvation You freely gave me.
Renew my heart and draw me closer to eternal fellowship with You.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Heavenly Father,
I come before You in humility.
Forgive me for every sin and unbelief that separated me from Your promise.
I believe that Jesus died for me and rose again to give me eternal life.
Lord Jesus, I receive You into my heart today.
Let Your eternal life flow through me, cleanse me, and make me new.
Keep me faithful till I see You face to face.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

HYMN
When We All Get to Heaven
Eliza E. Hewitt (1898)
1. Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace;
In the mansions bright and blessed,
He’ll prepare for us a place.
Chorus:
When we all get to heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!
2. While we walk the pilgrim pathway
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when trav'ling days are over
Not a shadow, not a sigh.
3. Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving ev'ry day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.
4. Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we'll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open–
We shall tread the streets of gold.
