BELOVED, KNOW THAT IT IS THE LAST TIME!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Oct 5th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
BELOVED
, KNOW THAT IT IS THE LAST TIME!

KEY VERSE:

“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”1 John 2:18 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

We live in a world where the signs of the end are becoming clearer each day.

The Apostle John’s warning to believers thousands of years ago echoes more loudly now:

IT IS THE LAST TIME.

This is not a message of fear, but of spiritual alertness.

The “last time” refers to the final dispensation before the return of Christ, a period marked by deception, moral decay, spiritual lukewarmness, and the rise of false doctrines.

Jesus Himself said in Matthew 24:12:

Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Yet, amidst all the chaos, this is also the time of revival, purification, and preparation for the Bride of Christ.

The Lord is calling His people to discern the times, awaken from spiritual sleep, and walk in holiness.

To “know that it is the last time” is to live with urgency, purity, and faithfulness, redeeming the time because the days are evil (Ephesians 5:16).

The end is not to be feared by the righteous but anticipated with readiness.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO KNOW IT IS THE LAST TIME

  1. Spiritually Watchful – “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour.” (Matthew 25:13)
  2. Anchored in Truth – “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)
  3. Holy and Set Apart – “Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)
  4. Walking in Love – “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples.” (John 13:35)
  5. Enduring in Faith – “He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13)
  6. Preaching the Gospel – “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world.” (Matthew 24:14)
  7. Awaiting Christ’s Return with Hope – “Looking for that blessed hope.” (Titus 2:13)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Midnight Alarm

A small town was known for sleeping deeply through the night.

One evening, the watchman saw a fire breaking out at the town’s edge.

He sounded the alarm, but many ignored it, thinking it was just another false alert.

By the time they realized it was true, much had been destroyed.

Lesson: Many today ignore spiritual alarms.

The “fire” of sin and deception burns close, yet the world sleeps on.

Now is the time to wake up!

2. The Prepared Bride

A bride prepared all her life for her wedding day.

She kept her dress clean and her lamp burning.

When the bridegroom delayed, some lost interest, but she remained ready.

When the call came at midnight, she rose with joy and met her beloved.

Lesson: The Bride of Christ must remain ready, regardless of delay.

The wise remain watchful, their lamps filled with oil, the Holy Spirit.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, are you living as though the end will never come?

Have worldly pleasures, distractions, or unbelief stolen your focus?

The Lord calls you today to return to your first love, to watch and pray, and to be clothed in righteousness.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Let your heart cry before God today:

Father, I have wandered far, forgetting the urgency of Your coming.

Forgive my lukewarmness, my carelessness, and my silence when I should be shining Your light.

Restore my zeal, purify my heart, and set me ablaze again for Your glory.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I repent for living without eternal urgency.

Forgive my spiritual slumber, compromise, and neglect of Your Word.

Lord Jesus, wash me clean by Your blood.

Ignite my heart with the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Help me to live as one awaiting Your glorious return.

Let my life, speech, and conduct proclaim that You are coming soon.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

HYMN

Wake, Awake, for Night Is Flying
~ Philipp Nicolai (1599), Catherine Winkworth (1858)

1. Wake, awake! for night is flying,
The watchmen on the heights are crying;
Awake, Jerusalem, arise!
Midnight hears the welcome voices
And at the thrilling cry rejoices:
Oh, where are all you virgins wise?
The Bridegroom come, awake!
Your lamps with gladness take!
Alleluia!
With bridal care yourselves prepare
To meet the Bridegroom, who is near.

2. Zion hears the watchmen singing,
And all her heart with joy is springing;
She wakes, she rises from her gloom.
For her Lord comes down all-glorious,
The strong in grace, in truth victorious;
Her star is ris'n, her light is come.
Now come, O blessed One,
Christ Jesus, God's own Son.
Hail! Hosanna!
We enter all the marriage hall
To eat the supper at your call.

3. Now let all the heav'ns adore you,
Let saints and angels sing before you
With harp and cymbal's clearest tone.
Of one pearl each shining portal,
Where, dwelling with the choir immortal,
We gather round your radiant throne.
No vision ever brought,
No ear has ever caught
Such great glory;
Therefore will we in victory
Sing hymns of praise eternally.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Take time today to reflect:

  • If Jesus came today, would you be ready?
  • Write down one worldly distraction or habit you must surrender to God.
  • Spend 30 minutes in worship and prayer, rededicating your heart to Jesus.

DEEP REFLECTION

We are not waiting for “someday”, we are living in prophecy’s fulfillment now.

Every decision today echoes in eternity.

The question is not:

When will Christ return? but

Will He find faith in you when He does?

CLOSING DECLARATION

I am awake, alert, and anchored in the truth.

I refuse to slumber in sin.

The Word of God burns in my heart, the Spirit of God guides my steps, and the hope of Christ’s return purifies my soul.

I am ready, watching, and waiting for my Lord’s glorious appearing.

Amen.
