YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN YOU FOR HIS NAME’S SAKE!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
September 25th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN YOU FOR HIS NAME’S SAKE!

KEY VERSE

“I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.”1 John 2:12 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Forgiveness is not based on your good works, efforts, or merit, it is entirely because of the finished work of Jesus Christ and for the glory of His Name. When God forgives us, He wipes away our sins, not because we deserve it, but because of the blood of His Son that was shed at Calvary.

Forgiveness is both a gift of grace and a declaration of God’s covenant faithfulness. Once forgiven, you are cleansed, justified, and restored into fellowship with God. Sin no longer has dominion over you, for you now stand in the righteousness of Christ.

CHARACTERISTICS OF DIVINE FORGIVENESS

  1. Complete Cleansing – “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18).
  2. Not Remembered Anymore – “Their sins and iniquities will I remember no more” (Hebrews 10:17).
  3. Freely Given – “Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).
  4. Restores Fellowship – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
  5. For His Name’s Sake – “For Your name’s sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity, for it is great” (Psalm 25:11).
  6. Brings Peace – “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).
  7. Leads to Transformation – “Go, and sin no more” (John 8:11).

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Erased Debt

A poor man owed a debt he could never repay.

He feared prison until one day, the creditor tore up the record and said,

For the sake of my son who paid the price, you are free.

Lesson: Christ canceled our debt of sin at the cross, for His Name’s sake, we are forgiven.

2. The Dirty Garment

A child played in the mud and came home ashamed, fearing rejection.

Instead, his father bathed him, gave him new clothes, and embraced him.

Lesson: God does not just condemn us in our sin, He washes us, clothes us in righteousness, and restores us in love.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Have you been carrying guilt, shame, or the weight of unconfessed sin?

God is calling you today:

Come, and let us reason together.”

Don’t delay, true peace comes only when you embrace His forgiveness in Christ.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Take time to confess those hidden sins before God.

Ask Him to search your heart (Psalm 139:23-24) and cleanse every impurity.

True repentance is turning away from sin and turning fully to God.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Father of Mercy,

I acknowledge my sins and failures before You.

I confess that I have strayed in thoughts, words, and deeds.

Forgive me, Lord, not because I deserve it, but for the sake of Your Son Jesus who died for me.

Wash me with His blood, restore my fellowship with You, and grant me the grace to live in holiness from today.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

  1. Psalm 103:12 – “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
  2. Micah 7:18-19 – “He will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.”
  3. Isaiah 43:25 – “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake.”
  4. Colossians 1:14 – “In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”
  5. Ephesians 1:7 – “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”
  6. Romans 8:1 – “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”
  7. John 8:36 – “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

HYMN

There Is a Fountain Filled with Blood
William Cowper (1772)

1. There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel's veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains:
Lose all their guilty stains,
Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains.

2. The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away:
Wash all my sins away,
Wash all my sins away;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away.

3. Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its pow'r,
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved, to sin no more:
Be saved, to sin no more,
Be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved to sin no more.

4. E'er since by faith I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die:
And shall be till I die,
And shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die.

5. When this poor lisping, stamm'ring tongue
Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save:
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save,
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save;
Then in a nobler, sweeter song
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Place it before God in prayer and declare,

Forgiveness is not a license to continue in sin, it is an invitation into freedom and holiness.

To live forgiven is to live transformed, walking in the light of Christ.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I am forgiven, not because of my merit, but because of Jesus’ sacrifice.

My past is erased, my guilt is lifted, and my future is secure in Christ.

Sin shall no longer have dominion over me, for I belong to Jesus.
