YOU HAVE KNOWN THE FATHER!

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
Sep 28th, 2025

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
YOU
 HAVE KNOWN THE FATHER!

KEY VERSE

I write to you, little children, Because you have known the Father.” – 1 John 2:13 (NKJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

To know the Father is the highest privilege of every believer. Through Jesus Christ, we are reconciled to God and adopted as His children (John 1:12). Knowing the Father means more than head knowledge, it is an intimate relationship, marked by trust, love, reverence, and obedience.

The world presents distorted images of “god” that reflect human pride, idols, or traditions. But when you know the Father through His Son, you walk in His light, live in His truth, and reflect His glory. To know Him is eternal life (John 17:3).

CHARACTERISTICS OF THOSE WHO HAVE KNOWN THE FATHER

  1. They Walk in Obedience – “If you love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)
  2. They Abide in Love – “God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God.” (1 John 4:16)
  3. They Bear Spiritual Fruit – “By their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7:20)
  4. They Have Peace Beyond Circumstances – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee.” (Isaiah 26:3)
  5. They Seek Holiness – “Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)
  6. They Forgive Freely – “Forgive us… as we forgive.” (Matthew 6:12)
  7. They Long for His Presence – “As the deer pants for the water… so my soul pants for you, O God.” (Psalm 42:1)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. The Lost Child Found

A young boy once wandered off in a crowded market.

Frightened, he wept until his father’s voice called out,

“Son, I’m here!”

The boy ran into his father’s arms, safe and secure.

Lesson: When you truly know the Father, His voice brings comfort, direction, and safety in a world full of confusion.

2. The Trusted Shepherd

A shepherd led his sheep across a dangerous ravine.

While strangers shouted to lure the sheep, they followed only the shepherd’s call, trusting his voice.

Lesson: To know the Father is to discern His voice and follow Him, even when other voices compete for your attention.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Many know about God but do not truly know Him.

They follow religion, culture, or personal convenience rather than relationship.

The Father calls you today:

Return to Me, and I will return to you (Malachi 3:7).

DEEP REPENTANCE

Reflect on the areas where you have ignored God’s voice, doubted His love, or chosen worldly substitutes.

Confess honestly, lay your burdens at His feet, and resolve to walk closely with Him.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I confess that I have not always walked as one who truly knows You.

Forgive me for when I doubted, strayed, or sought other voices above Yours.

Wash me in the blood of Jesus.

Restore my heart to intimacy with You.

Let me walk daily in Your truth, love, and holiness.

From today, I want to know You deeply and follow You fully.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES

  1. Jeremiah 9:23-24 – Glory in knowing the Lord who practices kindness, justice, and righteousness.
  2. John 14:9 – He who has seen Christ has seen the Father.
  3. Romans 8:15 – We cry “Abba, Father” by the Spirit of adoption.
  4. 1 John 3:1 – Behold the love of the Father, that we should be called His children.
  5. John 17:3 – Eternal life is knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ.
  6. Psalm 103:13-14 – The Father has compassion on His children.
  7. Matthew 6:9 – Pray, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.”

HYMN

Abide with Me
Henry Francis Lyte (1847)

1. Abide with me: fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

2. Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away.
Change and decay in all around I see.
O thou who changest not, abide with me.

3. I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like thyself my guide and strength can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.

4. I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless,
ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.

5. Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes.
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Spend intentional time in prayer today addressing God as Father.

Write down one area of your life you struggle to surrender to Him.

Consciously trust Him in that area this week.

DEEP REFLECTION

Knowing the Father is not about having all the answers, but about resting in His heart. To know Him is to trust Him when life doesn’t make sense and to love Him even when the world rejects you.

CLOSING DECLARATION

I have known the Father, and I belong to Him.

His voice leads me, His love secures me, and His power sustains me.

I will walk in His truth, live in His love, and rest in His promises.

The Father is mine, and I am His, forever.

PRAYER POINTS

  1. Father, thank You for adopting me as Your child.
  2. Lord, deepen my relationship with You beyond religion.
  3. Father, remove every distraction that hinders intimacy with You.
  4. Lord, teach me to hear and follow Your voice clearly.
  5. Father, help me to walk in holiness and obedience.
  6. Lord, fill me with Your love so I can reflect it to others.
  7. Father, strengthen my faith when doubts arise.
  8. Lord, let my life glorify You in all things.
  9. Father, help me to forgive as You forgive.
  10. Lord, preserve me on the narrow way until I see You face to face.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION

Today, I declare that I know the Father!

His love overshadows my fears, His Spirit empowers my walk, and His hand guides my destiny.

No power of darkness will snatch me from His embrace.

I walk in His truth, His peace, and His victory.

I am a child of the Father, marked for eternity, in Jesus’ mighty name.

Amen!
