ANCHOR SCRIPTURES:

“If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death…” — 1 John 5:16 (KJV)

KEY VERSE

“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness…” — Galatians 6:1

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The heart of God is not only concerned about the salvation of souls but also about the restoration of believers who have fallen into sin. In 1 John 5:16, Apostle John reveals a deep mystery of intercession, that believers have the privilege and responsibility to pray for fellow believers who have stumbled spiritually.

Many people are quick to criticize, expose, condemn, and abandon brethren who fall into temptation. But Christ teaches us another path, the ministry of restoration through love, prayer, mercy, and truth. The Church is not a courtroom of condemnation alone; it is also a spiritual hospital where wounded souls can encounter healing through repentance and grace.

The phrase “sin which does not lead to death” points to sins where the heart is still reachable, repentant, and not completely hardened against God. This does not mean sin is acceptable, but it shows God’s mercy toward those willing to turn back to Him. God desires repentance rather than destruction.

Intercessory prayer becomes a spiritual lifeline. When believers sincerely pray for fallen brethren, heaven releases conviction, mercy, strength, and restoration. Through prayer, chains are broken, spiritual blindness is removed, and hearts are softened again toward God.

However, believers must also be careful not to become comfortable with sin. Persistent rebellion, deliberate hardness of heart, and rejection of truth can gradually destroy spiritual sensitivity. Therefore, this scripture is both a call to intercede for others and a warning to guard our own spiritual lives diligently.

Jesus Himself demonstrated this ministry when He prayed for Peter before his fall:

“But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not…” — Luke 22:32

True Christianity restores, heals, warns, corrects, and uplifts. A mature believer does not rejoice at another person’s downfall but labors in prayer until restoration comes.

May God give us compassionate hearts that seek restoration instead of destruction.

1. The Brother Everyone Gave Up On

A young believer became entangled in worldly living and stopped attending church. Many criticized him and concluded he would never return. But one elderly woman prayed for him daily with tears. Months later, after a deep conviction from the Holy Spirit, the young man returned broken before God and became a devoted servant of Christ.

Lessons:

  • Intercession can rescue wandering souls.
  • Never conclude that God is finished with someone.
  • Persistent prayer produces spiritual restoration.

2. Peter’s Restoration After Failure

Peter denied Jesus three times, yet Jesus had already prayed for him. Though Peter fell badly, he did not remain there. Through repentance and restoration, he became a mighty apostle who preached salvation to thousands.

Lessons:

  • Failure is not always final.
  • Jesus still restores repentant hearts.
  • Prayer preserves believers from total destruction.

CALL TO REPENTANCE

Beloved, have you ignored a struggling believer? Have you mocked, condemned, or gossiped about another person’s weakness instead of praying for restoration? Or are you secretly living in sin while pretending outward spirituality? God is calling you today to genuine repentance, humility, holiness, and compassionate intercession.

Return fully to Christ while His mercy still speaks.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Lord, I confess every form of pride, hypocrisy, spiritual negligence, bitterness, and hidden sin within me. Forgive me for condemning others while ignoring my own weaknesses. Wash me thoroughly and restore a right spirit within me. Teach me to love righteousness, hate sin, and labor in prayer for others. Purify my heart and make me an instrument of restoration in Your kingdom.

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE

Heavenly Father,

I come before You in humility and brokenness. I repent of every known and unknown sin. Cleanse me by the blood of Jesus Christ. Remove pride, unforgiveness, and spiritual carelessness from my life. In Jesus Christ’s name.

Amen.

Will L. Thompson

Message of the Hymn:

This hymn emphasizes God’s loving call to repentance, restoration, and returning to His grace.

1. Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
calling for you and for me;
see, on the portals he's waiting and watching,
watching for you and for me.

Refrain:

Come home, come home;
you who are weary come home;
earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
calling, O sinner, come home!

2. Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not his mercies,
mercies for you and for me?

3. Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
passing from you and from me;
shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,
coming for you and for me.

promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, he has mercy and pardon,
pardon for you and for me.

WE HAVE CONFIDENCE IN GOD’S ANSWERED PRAYERS

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 9th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
WE HAVE CONFIDENCE IN GOD’S ANSWERED PRAYERS

KEY VERSE

“And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” - 1 John 5:15

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Prayer is one of the greatest privileges given to believers. Through prayer, humanity communicates directly with the Almighty God. The confidence of every child of God is not merely in speaking prayers but in knowing that God hears and answers according to His will.

The Apostle John emphasized a powerful truth: when we know that God hears us, we can also know that our petitions are granted. This assurance removes fear, doubt, anxiety, and unbelief from the life of a Christian. God is not deaf to the cries of His children. Heaven is attentive to sincere prayers offered in faith, righteousness, humility, and obedience.

Many believers pray but remain uncertain about God’s response because they lack confidence in His promises. The Word of God teaches that faith is essential in prayer. Hebrews 11:6 says that without faith it is impossible to please God. Therefore, confidence in answered prayers begins with confidence in God Himself.

Prayer is not a religious routine; it is a covenant relationship between a loving Father and His children. When we pray according to God’s will, our prayers align with His divine purpose. God answers prayers in different ways: immediately, progressively, or sometimes differently from our expectations because His wisdom is greater than ours.

One major hindrance to answered prayers is sin and disobedience. Isaiah 59:1-2 explains that sin separates people from God and hinders communication with Him. Therefore, believers must maintain holiness, sincerity, forgiveness, and steadfast faith.

Confidence in answered prayers also requires persistence. Jesus taught His disciples to pray continually and never give up. Delay does not mean denial. Sometimes God uses waiting seasons to build faith, patience, maturity, and total dependence upon Him.

Another important truth is that God’s answers are rooted in His love. Even when answers seem delayed, God is still working behind the scenes for the good of His children. What God promises, He fulfills. Every prayer prayed in faith according to His will produces results in God’s perfect time.

Believers must therefore pray boldly, trust deeply, wait patiently, and expect joyfully. God remains faithful forever. The God who answered Elijah by fire, delivered Daniel from lions, and raised Lazarus from the dead is still answering prayers today.

Today, let your heart rest in this divine assurance: God hears you, knows your tears, understands your burdens, and will answer according to His perfect will.

CONFIDENCE IN GOD’S ANSWERED PRAYERS

THE WORDS OF TRUTH DAILY DEVOTIONAL
May 8th, 2026

𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
CONFIDENCE IN GOD’S ANSWERED PRAYERS

KEY VERSE

“And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” — 1 John 5:15

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Prayer is not a religious routine; prayer is fellowship with God. One of the greatest blessings given to believers is the confidence that God hears and answers prayers offered according to His will. The Scripture says, whatsoever we ask”; not in doubt, fear, or rebellion; but in faith, obedience, and alignment with God’s purpose.

Many believers pray but struggle with assurance. Some think God is too far away, too busy, or unwilling to respond. Yet the Word of God establishes a divine certainty: If we know that He hears us… we know that we have the petitions.” God’s hearing guarantees God’s response.

Answered prayer is rooted in relationship, faith, righteousness, obedience, and persistence. Prayer moves mountains, opens impossible doors, heals broken lives, restores destinies, defeats satanic attacks, and brings heaven’s intervention into earthly situations.

However, unanswered prayers can sometimes result from unbelief, unforgiveness, disobedience, sinful living, wrong motives, or lack of persistence. God desires His children to approach Him boldly, trusting His love and power.

The believer who understands the authority of prayer will not live helplessly. Heaven responds when faith-filled prayers rise from sincere hearts. God still answers prayers today. He answers in His timing, wisdom, and perfect will.

Whatever you are asking God for today, do not surrender to discouragement. Continue standing on His promises. The God who answered Hannah, Elijah, Daniel, blind Bartimaeus, and the early church still answers today.

CONFIDENCE IN GOD’S RESPONSE TO OUR PRAYERS

KEY VERSE

"And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." - 1 John 5:15 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The foundation of a powerful prayer life is not just speaking to God, but knowing He hears you. Many believers pray with uncertainty, hoping something happens. But this scripture establishes something deeper: confidence.

When God hears, He does not ignore. His hearing guarantees His response, though not always in the way or timing we expect. This verse reveals a spiritual law:

Hearing leads to having.

However, the condition is crucial, our prayers must align with His will (as seen in verse 14). When your desires are shaped by God’s Word, your prayers become effective, assured, and unstoppable.

Doubt weakens prayer, but faith anchored in God's promises brings results. Prayer is not begging; it is engaging a faithful Father who responds.

If God hears you, then your answer is already in motion, even if unseen. Your responsibility is to believe, align, and remain steadfast.

KEY VERSE

"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us." - 1 John 5:14 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The assurance that God hears us is one of the greatest privileges of being His child. Prayer is not a ritual or empty exercise, it is a living communication with a responsive Father. The scripture does not merely say we pray; it emphasizes confidence, a bold, unwavering assurance rooted in our relationship with God.

However, this confidence is not based on emotions, volume, or repetition. It is anchored in alignment with God’s will. When our desires are shaped by His Word, our prayers become powerful, effective, and answered.

To say He hears us means:

  • God is attentive to your voice
  • God is concerned about your needs
  • God responds according to His perfect wisdom

Many believers struggle because they doubt whether God is listening. But scripture makes it clear: He hears consistently, faithfully, and lovingly. The issue is not God’s hearing, it is often our alignment, faith, and persistence.

When you understand this truth, prayer shifts from desperation to confidence, from fear to assurance, and from routine to relationship.

  8. To cultivate obedience (1 John 3:22)

  9. To grow spiritual sensitivity (John 10:27)

CONFIDENCE IN PRAYER THROUGH GOD’S WILL

KEY VERSE

"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us." - 1 John 5:14 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Prayer is not merely speaking to God, it is aligning with His divine will. Many believers pray but lack confidence because they are uncertain whether their requests are in harmony with God’s purpose. This scripture establishes a powerful truth: confidence in prayer is born from alignment with God's will.

God is not obligated to answer every request, but He is committed to answering prayers that reflect His will, His Word, and His purpose. When your desires are shaped by His Word, your prayers become effective, powerful, and unstoppable.

Praying according to His will requires:

  • Knowing His Word
  • Yielding your desires
  • Trusting His wisdom over your emotions

When your heart aligns with God, your prayers shift from “Lord, do what I want” to “Lord, let Your will be done.” That is where power, peace, and answers reside.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To understand the foundation of confident prayer (1 John 5:14)

  2. To align desires with God’s will (Romans 12:2)

  3. To grow in spiritual discernment (Hebrews 5:14)

  4. To eliminate selfish prayers (James 4:3)

  5. To deepen relationship with God (John 15:7)

  7. To pray with faith and assurance (Mark 11:24)

  8. To develop obedience to God’s Word (Deuteronomy 5:33)

  9. To cultivate patience in waiting (Romans 8:25)

  10. To experience answered prayers consistently (John 16:24)

  1. Faith-filled (Hebrews 11:6)

  2. According to God’s will (1 John 5:14)

  4. Righteous (James 5:16)

  5. Humble (2 Chronicles 7:14)

  6. Spirit-led (Romans 8:26)

  7. Word-based (John 15:7)

  8. Thankful (Philippians 4:6)

  10. Obedient (1 John 3:22)

2. THE TRAIN ON TRACK

A train only moves effectively when it stays on its track. Once it derails, movement stops.

Lesson: Prayer only produces results when it stays aligned with God’s will.

Return to God if your prayers have been self-centered, faithless, or disconnected from His Word.

DEEP REPENTANCE

Acknowledge areas where you have doubted God, demanded your own way, or ignored His will.

APPROPRIATE HYMN

Trust and Obey
John H. Sammis (lyrics) & Daniel B. Towner (music)

Message: A hymn emphasizing obedience and trust in God’s perfect will.

1. When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:

Trust and obey,
for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.

2. Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.

3. But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.

4. Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we'll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
