THE WORDS OF TRUTH
DAILY DEVOTIONAL
September 20th, 2026
𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
YOUR PRESENT TRIAL IS TEMPORARY, BUT YOUR GLORY IS ETERNAL
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE
“Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations.” - 1 Peter 1:6 (KJV)
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
The believer's trials may be painful, but they are temporary. Peter says, “though now for a little while,” reminding us that our present suffering does not have the final word.
God can use trials to test and strengthen our faith, purify our motives and prepare us for greater glory. Do not make a permanent decision because of a temporary situation.
The night may seem long, but morning is coming. Your tears have a limit. Your trial has an expiration date. God's promise is greater than your present pain.
BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES
- To understand the temporary nature of trials — 2 Corinthians 4:17.
- To maintain joy and hope during difficulties — Romans 12:12.
- To allow trials to strengthen our faith — James 1:2–4.
- To trust God's purpose even when we do not understand it — Romans 8:28.
- To remain faithful until our eternal reward — Revelation 2:10.
BIBLICAL CHARACTERISTICS
A believer who understands that trials are temporary should be:
- Patient — waiting for God's appointed time.
- Faithful — refusing to abandon God under pressure.
- Hopeful — expecting God's intervention.
- Prayerful — seeking God's strength rather than surrendering to despair.
- Enduring — continuing until the victory comes.
ILLUSTRATIONS
1. Joseph in the Prison
Joseph's prison experience appeared to be a setback, but it was only a temporary chapter before his elevation to the palace — Genesis 39:20–23; 41:39–41.
Lesson: A temporary prison cannot cancel God's permanent purpose.
2. The Disciples in the Storm
The disciples thought the storm might destroy them, but Jesus was in the boat and eventually commanded the wind and sea to become still — Mark 4:37–41.
Lesson: The presence of a storm does not mean the absence of God.
PERSONAL CALL TO REPENTANCE
Have I allowed temporary trials to produce permanent bitterness, unbelief, anger, disobedience or distance from God?
Today, I must return my heart completely to God and trust Him again.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Lord, forgive me for the times I have doubted Your faithfulness because of my circumstances. Forgive my murmuring, fear, impatience and unbelief. Help me to understand that my present troubles are temporary, while Your promises are eternal. Give me grace to remain faithful until my testimony comes.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Heavenly Father, I repent of every attitude and action that has displeased You. Wash me clean through the blood of Jesus Christ. Restore my faith, renew my hope and strengthen my relationship with You. Help me to trust You even in difficult seasons and never abandon Your purpose for my life, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

O God, Our Help in Ages Past

Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.”

TODAY'S CHALLENGE
Identify one situation that is causing you fear or discouragement.
Today, consciously surrender it to God and declare:
“This is only for a little while. God will see me through.”
Do not give up because of a temporary season.
DEEP REFLECTION
What if the situation I am crying about today is actually preparing me for the testimony I will celebrate tomorrow?
My present situation is not my final destination.
The trial is temporary.
The lesson may be permanent.
The testimony will remain.
The glory will be eternal.
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Beloved, do not quit in the middle of your story.
You may be experiencing financial pressure, disappointment, rejection, delay, opposition or uncertainty, but remember: “though now for a little while.”
God has not forgotten you.
Keep praying.
Keep believing.
Keep obeying.
Keep moving forward.
Your present pain is not greater than God's purpose for your life.
ETERNITY IN VIEW
Everything we experience on earth is temporary.
Our possessions, positions, struggles, successes and disappointments will eventually pass away. But the eternal glory promised through Christ will never end.
Therefore, let me never sacrifice my eternal inheritance because of temporary comfort.
I will choose eternity over temporary pleasure and faithfulness over temporary relief.
PERSONAL CLOSING DECLARATION
I declare that my present season will not destroy my future. I will not give up, I will not lose my faith and I will not abandon God's purpose for my life. Every trial working against me shall become a testimony. I receive strength to endure, grace to overcome and faith to finish well. My season of heaviness shall give way to rejoicing, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
PERSONAL PRAYER POINTS
-
Father, give me grace to remain faithful during every difficult season of my life, in the name of Jesus.
-
Every power assigned to turn my temporary trial into permanent defeat, be broken, in the name of Jesus.
-
Lord, strengthen my faith and give me patience to wait for Your appointed time, in the name of Jesus.
-
Father, turn every present affliction into a testimony and every disappointment into divine appointment, in the name of Jesus.
-
Lord, bring me out of every season of heaviness and usher me into a new season of joy, restoration and glory, in the name of Jesus.
PERSONAL PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I decree that this difficult season shall not consume me. The Lord shall sustain me through the storm. What looks like delay shall become divine preparation. What looks like rejection shall become redirection. What looks like a closed door shall lead me to God's appointed door. My tears shall become testimony, my weakness shall become strength, and my trial shall produce glory. I shall come out better, stronger and victorious, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
PERSONAL WORDS OF TRUTH
Though now for a little while, I will not give up.
Though I weep, I will still trust God.
Though I am tested, my faith will not fail.
Though the road is difficult, I will keep walking.
Though the night is long, morning is coming.
Though my trial is painful, God's grace is sufficient.
My trial is temporary.
God's promise is eternal.
My testimony is coming.
My glory shall be revealed.
TODAY'S WORD OF TRUTH
“THIS IS ONLY FOR A LITTLE WHILE; I WILL ENDURE THE SEASON, TRUST GOD THROUGH THE PROCESS, AND COME FORTH WITH A TESTIMONY.”
