CHOSEN BY GOD: LIVING AS HIS ELECT
ANCHOR SCRIPTURE
“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ…” - 1 Peter 1:2
DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Being elect according to the foreknowledge of God reminds us that our salvation is rooted in God's gracious purpose. God knows us, calls us and desires that our lives should reflect His holiness.
Election is not a license for careless living. We are chosen unto obedience, sanctification and fellowship with Christ. Therefore, I must live with gratitude, humility and a sincere desire to please the One who called me.
I am chosen to serve, sanctified to obey and called to live for God's glory.
BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES
- To understand my identity as God's chosen person — 1 Peter 2:9.
- To pursue holiness through the Holy Spirit — 1 Peter 1:15–16.
- To obey God's Word wholeheartedly — John 14:15.
- To live as God's representative on earth — Matthew 5:16.
- To remain faithful until the end — Matthew 24:13.
BIBLICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ELECT
- Chosen — belonging to God.
- Sanctified — being separated for God's purpose.
- Obedient — willing to follow God's Word.
- Holy — reflecting God's character.
- Fruitful — producing works that glorify God.
ILLUSTRATIONS
1. The King's Ambassador
An ambassador represents his king in a foreign land. He does not behave according to the values of the country where he temporarily resides; he represents the authority and character of the one who sent him.
Lesson: As God's elect, my lifestyle should represent the King who chose me.
2. The Chosen Vessel
A valuable vessel is selected for a special purpose. Its usefulness depends on remaining clean and available for its master's use.
Lesson: Being chosen by God should motivate me to remain spiritually clean, available and obedient.
PERSONAL CALL TO REPENTANCE
Have I truly lived like someone chosen by God?
Have I allowed sin, pride, compromise or worldly desires to contradict my identity in Christ?
Today, I return to God with a willing heart and ask Him to restore my obedience.
DEEP REPENTANCE
Father, I repent for every way I have taken Your grace for granted. Forgive my disobedience, compromise, pride, spiritual laziness and love for worldly things. Purify my heart and restore my desire for holiness. Help me to live worthy of the calling You have given me, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
Lord Jesus, I surrender myself completely to You. Wash me from every sin and cleanse my heart. Let the power of Your blood continually speak for me. Help me walk in holiness, obedience and truth. Let my life demonstrate that I belong to You, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

HYMN
I Have Decided to Follow Jesus
Author: Traditionally attributed to an anonymous Indian Christian convert; the hymn became widely known through missionary Sadhu Sundar Singh and later arrangements.
“I have decided to follow Jesus,
No turning back, no turning back.”
Chorus:
“No turning back,
No turning back.”
Lesson: God's elect must respond to His calling with steadfast faith and obedience.
TODAY'S CHALLENGE
Today, I will consciously make one decision that demonstrates obedience to God, even if it is difficult or unpopular.
I will choose God's will over my feelings, God's Word over worldly pressure and obedience over convenience.
DEEP REFLECTION
Why did God choose me?
Not merely to receive His blessings, but to know Him, obey Him, become holy, bear fruit and reveal His glory.
My election should produce transformation.
If God has chosen me, my life should increasingly look like someone who belongs to Him.
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
Beloved, never measure your worth by people's acceptance.
You are known by God.
Your calling may sometimes feel difficult, and your journey may contain trials, but God's purpose for your life has not changed.
Remain humble. Remain obedient. Remain faithful.
The God who called you is able to preserve you until the end.
ETERNITY IN VIEW
Earthly recognition is temporary, but God's kingdom is eternal.
One day, every believer will stand before Christ. The question will not simply be whether we claimed to belong to Him, but whether our lives demonstrated faith, obedience and perseverance.
Let me live today in preparation for eternity with Christ.
PERSONAL CLOSING DECLARATION
I declare that I belong to God. I am chosen for His purpose, sanctified by His Spirit and called to obedience. I reject every lifestyle that contradicts my identity in Christ. I will walk in holiness, bear fruit, remain faithful and fulfil God's purpose for my life, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
PERSONAL PRAYER POINTS

Father, thank You for choosing and calling me into fellowship with Christ; help me remain faithful to You, in the name of Jesus.
-
Holy Spirit, sanctify my heart and remove every habit, attitude and desire that contradicts God's will for my life, in the name of Jesus.
-
Father, give me grace to obey Your Word even when obedience is difficult, in the name of Jesus.
-
Lord, let my life bear lasting spiritual fruit and bring glory to Your name wherever I go, in the name of Jesus.
-
Father, preserve me from falling away and help me finish my Christian journey faithfully and victoriously, in the name of Jesus.
PERSONAL PROPHETIC DECLARATION
I declare that I am chosen, preserved and empowered for God's purpose. Every force working to derail my divine calling shall fail. I shall not lose my identity in Christ. I shall walk in holiness, grow in grace, obey God's Word and fulfil my divine assignment. The Holy Spirit shall strengthen me, the blood of Jesus shall speak for me, and God's purpose for my life shall stand. I shall finish well and finish strong, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
