KEY VERSE

"Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?" - 1 John 5:5 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The foundation of Christian victory is not effort, religion, or moral struggle, it is faith in the identity of Jesus Christ as the Son of God. This truth is not merely intellectual; it is transformational.

To believe that Jesus is the Son of God means:

  • Accepting His divine authority
  • Trusting His finished work on the cross
  • Submitting to His Lordship
  • Living in the power of His resurrection

The world represents systems of sin, fear, pride, and unbelief. No human strength can overcome it. Victory comes only through spiritual alignment with Christ.

Faith connects the believer to:

  • Divine power (Romans 1:16)
  • Eternal life (John 3:16)
  • Authority over sin (Romans 6:14)

When you truly believe, your identity changes, you become:

  • An overcomer
  • A child of God
  • A carrier of divine life

This belief produces boldness, righteousness, and endurance. Without this foundation, Christianity becomes empty religion. With it, life becomes a victorious walk with God.

BIBLICAL OBJECTIVES

  1. To strengthen faith in Jesus as the Son of God (John 20:31)

  2. To establish victory over the world (1 John 5:4)

ILLUSTRATIONS

1. THE ROOT AND THE FRUIT

Lesson:

Your results depend on your spiritual connection, not your effort.

HYMN

My Faith Looks Up to Thee
Ray Palmer (1830)

Theme: Dependence on Christ alone

Message: Total trust in Jesus for salvation and daily victory

1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
take all my guilt away;
O let me from this day
be wholly Thine.

2. May Thy rich grace impart
strength to my fainting heart,
my zeal inspire;
as Thou hast died for me,
O may my love to Thee
pure, warm, and changeless be,
a living fire.

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
and griefs around me spread,
be Thou my Guide;
bid darkness turn to day,
wipe sorrow’s tears away,
nor let me ever stray
from Thee aside.

4. When ends life's transient dream,
when death’s cold, sullen stream
shall o'er me roll,
blest Savior, then in love,
fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
a ransomed soul.
