𝕋𝕀𝕋𝕃𝔼:
HE SENT HIS SON TO BE THE PROPITIATION FOR OUR SINS!

KEY VERSE

“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” - 1 John 4:10 (KJV)

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

The greatest revelation of God’s love is not seen in creation, miracles, or blessings; but in the giving of His Son, Jesus Christ, as the propitiationthe atoning sacrifice, for our sins.

The word propitiation means the turning away of wrath by an offering.

Humanity, because of sin, stood guilty and condemned before a holy God.

Justice demanded punishment, but love provided a substitute.

Jesus did not merely cover sin; He removed it, absorbed the penalty, satisfied God’s righteous judgment, and opened the way for us to enjoy fellowship with Him.

Every drop of blood Jesus shed on the cross was a declaration:

You are loved, forgiven, and redeemed.

This devotional reminds us that we did nothing to earn this love.

God Himself initiated salvation.

He moved toward us when we were running from Him.

The cross is the eternal symbol of divine exchange, our guilt for His righteousness, our condemnation for His mercy, our separation for His intimacy.

Because of Christ’s sacrifice, no believer needs to walk in fear, shame, or bondage.

We stand accepted, justified, and reconciled.

A king built a massive bridge to reach a rebellious village.

The villagers rejected him, but he sent his only son to mend the bridge.

The son gave his life repairing it, allowing the people safe passage into the kingdom.

Lesson:

Jesus is the bridge between God and man

Without His sacrifice, access to God is impossible.

2. THE INNOCENT LAMB ON THE ALTAR

An ancient shepherd offered a spotless lamb to atone for the sins of the community.

HYMN

There Is a Fountain Filled with Blood
William Cowper (1772)

A timeless hymn proclaiming cleansing through the blood of Jesus, the perfect propitiation for sin.

1. There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel's veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains:
Lose all their guilty stains,
Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains.

2. The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away:
Wash all my sins away,
Wash all my sins away;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away.

3. Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its pow'r,
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved, to sin no more:
Be saved, to sin no more,
Be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed Church of God
Be saved to sin no more.

4. E'er since by faith I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die:
And shall be till I die,
And shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die.

5. When this poor lisping, stamm'ring tongue
Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save:
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save,
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save;
Then in a nobler, sweeter song
I'll sing Thy pow'r to save.
