Surrendering to the Supreme Authority of Christ

KEY VERSE:

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:

There is no throne above His, no name higher, no kingdom stronger.

All power belongs to Jesus. Not some power. Not shared power. All.

He has power over:

• Death — and He defeated it.

• Sin — and He conquered it.

• Darkness — and He shines through it.

• Storms — and He speaks peace into them.

Yet, many live as if power belongs to their bank account, their boss, their fears, or their own hands.

We say Jesus is Lord, but we often live like we are.

That’s why this truth isn’t just a declaration, it’s a call to repentance and surrender.

ILLUSTRATION:

The Crown in the Dirt

Imagine a kingdom where the people wear crowns and call themselves rulers. One day, the True King arrives, radiant in glory. But many look at Him, then look back at their own crowns, and refuse to bow.

Only a few remove their crowns, fall to their knees, and say,

“You alone are King. Take Your throne.”

Too many are holding tight to false authority, over their lives, relationships, choices.

But the kingdom only works when the crown is returned to Jesus.

CALL TO REPENTANCE:

This is more than a memory verse, this is a soul check.

• Are you living like Jesus truly holds all power?

• Or are you still trying to control the pieces of your life?

• Have you bowed your heart, your habits, your will?

The only right response to “All power belongs to Jesus” is full surrender.

Let Him rule. Let Him lead. Let Him cleanse. Let Him restore.

PRAYER:

Jesus,

I acknowledge today that all power belongs to You.

Forgive me for holding on to control, for pretending I know better, for resisting Your lordship.

I surrender my pride, my plans, and my sin.

Take Your rightful place in my life.

Be my King, not in word only, but in truth.

In Your mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION SCRIPTURES:

• Colossians 1:16–18 – “He is before all things... in Him all things hold together.”

• Revelation 1:8 – “I am the Alpha and the Omega... who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

• Psalm 62:11 – “Power belongs to God.”

• Philippians 2:9–11 – “God gave Him the name above every name…”

CHALLENGE FOR TODAY:

Kneel in prayer, physically if you can, and say aloud:

“Jesus, all power belongs to You. I surrender all I’ve tried to control.”

Then write down all areas where you need to give up control today (e.g., fear, pride, a habit, a decision, career, marriage, health, etc) and hand them back to Him.
